imiss toronto acting camp has always been popular with the sexually misguided. It’s a pose, of course. You’re too young to remember “Beyond The Fringe” which had a truly hilarious camp sketch. Ah, those were the days, when we were still allowed to laugh at this idiocy

This was so lovely to watch. Like watching two friends have a chat and you just so happen to be in the room

There is a reason he is SIR Ian McKellen- pure class, with a great sense of humor

More heartwarming than Sir Ian talking about his younger days and his struggle with being gay when it was against the law is to hear him talk about how thankful he was to make a killing in the cinema. That is not something which you ordinarily expect from a Shakespearean, especially one of his caliber. Makes it that much easier to enjoy the material in his filmography.

if sir Ian just talked for hours and hour I'd listen to every word . his voice is so calming

Great Interview buy Sir Ian is absolutely right about prostate cancer---GET CHECKED. I wouldn't even wait till 60, start in your mid 40s. Most men, if they live long enough, will develop prostate cancer. Sometimes it's benign and requires no action, sometimes it's aggressive and may spread and kill you. However if you catch it early it is VERY treatable. My dad had it, caught it early, had it removed and 6 years later is doing completely fine. Gets checked every 6 months, so far so good, no more cancer.

I wish your father good health. It is very treatable when detected early. My uncle had it and lived another 10 years before he died in 2012.

Vicious was brilliant but towards the end, they needed to do a few more rewrites on the scripts. When a show fails, it's almost always the writing.

There's an interview Ian did from the 70s with Dick Cavett here on KZread, so young and love his look.

I love Ian McKellen but nothing beats his power on stage. I've seen many different performances but his Richard III at the NT is brilliant. His opening of "Now is the Winter of our Discontent" is like machine gun fire. He is best on stage; he feeds off the audience.

2 beautiful human beings chatting like old friends. :)

Alan is really funny, his quips remind me of Clive Anderson, but obviously less biting

Must we have titles that are indicative of one or two sentences in the entire interview?

There is something very soothing about Ian, he is very warm and charming.

I think I could have enjoyed this but for me there were 2 problems: the accents were a bit difficult to understand, and they must have had their microphones on their belt buckles as the sound level seemed very uneven.

Derek is happy with Richard (for about 40 years now) and I only hope that Ian finds somebody that he is happy with. This is a great interview.

Prostate cancer is deadly when it appears at an earlier age. However, when it appears in ages 70 and beyond for some unknown reason it behaves in a very indolent way

I have seen Ian McClellan in only a few parts but he has a great range, by which I mean he can play a "baddie" and/or a sweet, gentle, older man equally convincingly.

Legends both these men are icons

I'm American and I paused after reading "The Hobbit shooting" for completely the wrong reason.

People tend to crucify me for me stance on gay people. I disagree with the notion that Ian McKellen is awesome because he is gay. Instead, I think that he is a great actor, a good person with a lot of beautiful qualities that simply happens to be gay.
