Ian Khama aggrieved over SADC snub

Ian Khama says he's disappointed that SADC leaders excluded his family while honouring his father. An award was given in Kinshasa, DRC, during the SADC Heads of State and Government meeting two weeks ago.
Khama, and his young brother, Tshekedi Khama, have also spoken for the first time about the death of their sister, Jacqueline Tebogo Khama.
Neither attended the funeral in June, as they are based in South Africa due to tensions between the Khamas, and the current President, Mokgweetsi Masisi.

During his regime (Ian Khama) the paramount chief of bakgatla had to leave the country to save himself from Ian Khama. The mother of Kgosikgolo for bakgatla was buried in absence of his elderst son Kgosikgolo Kgafela II. This was due to the law that the former president Ian Khama passed during his regime. The current president is implementing that law accordingly. Remember when you 👉 someone three fingers (3/5)or 60% )are pointing at you. One finger is 20%. Sophie’s journalism is rotten. If she really wants South Africans to know what is happening in Botswana, she should ask more intelligent questions. And why is it that it is always Sophie that interviews the Khamas? My, suggestion is that the Khamas should call a press conference and open themselves up to more pointed questions that Sophie has proved to be incapable of.

Funny enough, even those who support him have never asked him what the problem is all about. At the same time, it is fair to say Batswana now know precisely why he would like to make everyone, even those he used to despise, to believe that he is at logger heads with a sitting president of this country. Tell Sophie to ask the Khamas why they are in SA and not in their supposed to be country. The current president of Botswana does not owe the Khamas even a cent. On the other hand, most Batswana would tell you that they have a lot to answer to the courts of law, in Botswana; if JZ can be sued so thoroughly in SA to the extent of being imprisoned, then surely, you can understand why even the Khamas can never be above the law. South Africans are his host and are prepared to protect him at all cost, ask Thabo Mbeki to say what the Khamas are running away from and insist on him producing any proof that he may have; JZ did not run away from SA.

They are not meant to rehabilitate but to intimidate and humble. I always hear people talk about who the best president in Botswana was, and the answers I get are always subjective because there has not been a tangible result from any Botswana president except for the late Sir Seretse Khama who laid out the foundation. Tangible results are based on Human Development Index and by far it only exists on paper but in reality, it’s a struggle for most of Batswana,. Sadly those are the realities.

One almost gets a sense that the South African media is also careful not to give him too much airtime, in case the current leadership complains. The two really seems a bit arrogant and is clearly on a mission to discredit the current duly elected leadership of Botswana

Massive I over the top, he is the only Botswana president who wants to be a dictator. Why do Botswana based tswanas distrust south African born tswanas? There is tension which I cannot understand. When you meet them they are standoffish?

Are you kidding? I love my South African Tswanas:) When I hear their broken Setswana I just want to hug them and teach them to speak proper Setswana from Botswana. When I am in South Africa I feel welcomed and embraced. I do agree that Botswana folks can be standoffish.
