    Such an honor to be a part of this campaign. We're just a small part of this community, but proud that we can be setting an example to others. Asian Americans still have so much to offer and a long way to go, so let's keep it up!

    Wong Fu is too modest. Their work back in the early days was a big inspiration for all the "mainstream" actors. Back in the early days, Asians had no where to see other Asians on the screen, so WongFu on KZread was a way for them to picture success.

    I really love how inspirational this is, you don't even have to be asian to feel that and to know what it's like for your parents or family to tell you that you should do what makes money. But watching things like this, makes me think "hey, we all should do what we love, what we believe in." Asian or not, we all deserve to do what we love, whether it's hard or not. We can't let the fear of striking out keep us from playing the game.

    With Asian parents I think that when you decide to pursue the arts, they fear the success of such a decision. Especially when you guys were starting out, there was no guarantee that you could turn this in to a career. Whereas being a doctor or a lawyer is guaranteed to make you financially stable and you can have a good life.

    Amen, dude. My passion lies in becoming a musician (like a session musician), but, like any other art major, there's jokes about how, coming out of university with an arts degree we stay at home in our parents house, jobless, doing nothing. And, tbh it is kind of scary when we question ourselves if we're really going to make it or not in this field, well at least for me.

  • @Burt0nB04rd3r

    I think it's scary for anyone to question their life choices and their future. And you could always find a stable career that only requires a 4 year degree and do that until you find success in music. At least that way you can fund your passion and you can be independent and self sufficient until you find success in your passion. Good luck.

    Burt0nB04rd3r That's what everyone is telling me though, to also study something else that isn't music. After doing so much academics in the IB, I really can't bear with continuing to study something else that I'm not interested in, and I tend to think that I will find success in music if I focus solely on that instead of also having to worry about other stuff. But I guess I have to be kinda realistic as well, but idk. I'll just try my best and see what happens.

    I am the first to say I am not a fan of Wong Fu Productions. The reasons are simple at the moment, I couldn't relate to them. I found their work very bubble gum for guys who look so intelligent. Now, this is where it gets interesting, I do respect Wong Fu is crazy smart because they were able to achieve the respect of so many fans! The only thing I would encourage from Wong Fu is to not do the same thing as North American production companies and cast one ethnic group, makes Wong Fu no different from mainstream media casting which is 98%-100% Asians and 2%-0% non. Don't get me wrong, you have made a mark, but that mark is in the Asian Community. My question would be why bother claiming you're making a mark when you're doing the same black and white as some of the NA film companies that cast 98% Caucasian? I understand Asians trying to make an impact, shouldn't it not be Wong Fu not just opening opportunities for Asians but for everyone? Again, that question is still very young as Wong Fu is only 10 years old and that's a baby. Who knows what Wong Fu will do in the future. I definitely respect Wong Fu are amazingly hard working folk and I get that Asians should be proud, I also get by being Asian shouldn't distract any Asians from thinking we more than just human.too!

  • @rahmanamuhammad3540

    @rahmanamuhammad3540

    10 жыл бұрын

    I don't think there's anything wrong with the fact they cast 98% Asian. I'm East African, and if I owned a production company, I would problely cast more of people who look like me. I think that people want to promote themselves, and they are more concerned about their own race being seen in a positive light. And that is 100% okay. The reason NA film companies cast 98% white is because the people who own them ARE white! The other 2% are to appease whiny PC people like yourself. People are concerned with the perceptions of themselves more than anyone else, and that's 100% natural, sane, and normal. You only concern yourself with other people when you are secure. It's not racism. Just self-prevasion and common sense.

  • @ThatGmoney

    @ThatGmoney

    10 жыл бұрын

    Rahmana Mary I think you're over reading my post, ut that's alright, I'll be clear. I never said anything about what Wong Fu were doing would be racist. I hope you being a production company you own you would ask the necessary questions before assuming what I was trying to attend. Whether a production company is own by whatever the nationality, would you not bring my viewers and business if you had a broader ethnicities? By you saying, you yourself would only invite a certain group, really shows to me are you ready for business and could your opinion of your world be limited? Do you think you could be a better director and business owner by not jumping into conclusions that I did not intend a racist post. I respect it's your company and what not, but to instigate that I'm complaining when I'm allowed my right to voice my opinion would be the same as to you what you posted to my reply. Again, if my post was annoying you, I really suggest perhaps asking yourself did it really annoy you or is it because I don't exactly agree with you and I'm allowed that right as much I respect yours because I'm not assuming you're narrow minded but I have a right to ask.

  • @rahmanamuhammad3540

    @rahmanamuhammad3540

    10 жыл бұрын

    G Money Okay, your reply was all over the place. First of all, I don't own a production company, that was a hypothetical statement. "Whether a production company is own by whatever the nationality, would you not bring my viewers and business if you had a broader ethnicities?" No. I think that as long as you market, advertise, and make your project cool, people will watch it regardless of their own race. For example, Frozen. Frozen had not one not-white character, but it beat out Toy Story as the highest grossing Disney movie. And, I'm not Asian, but I still watch WongFu sometimes. Sorry if I "jumped to conclusions". But I'm tired of seeing people commenting about WongFu's use of Asian actors. And normally the gist of what they're saying is "racist".

  • @ThatGmoney

    @ThatGmoney

    10 жыл бұрын

    Rahmana Mary Currently, Wong Fu isn't hitting every market though. Again, like I said, they are still young and I thank you for apologizing. Also, "Frozen" would attract a broader audience because their audience enjoyed "Frozen's" art form, like many enjoyed "Spirited Away". I like the point you made about Frozen because another good example would be "Titantic". However, I was pretty clear Wong Fu is still young in my first comment so I don't know how they will grow.

  • @rahmanamuhammad3540

    @rahmanamuhammad3540

    10 жыл бұрын

    G Money I originally wasn't arguing about thier youth. I was arguing about their right to feature 98% Asian actors if they want to. Are you trying to say that WongFu would grow better and faster by using more diversity? And what exactly do you mean by Frozen's "art form"?

  • @svmathtutor

    The great thing about Phil and all the other Asians on KZread dramas, comedies, etc is they completely shatter the false stereotype of Asians being "robots". This is 2019 and suddenly there's a huge wave of anti-Asian sentiment out of New York to keep Asians out of the specialized tech schools and limit their numbers in Ivy Leagues, and calls to break up "big tech", and justifying it by falsely claiming Asian are "robots" and score low on the "personality scale".
