IAI, Israel MOD and the U.S. MDA announce the development of Arrow-4

Arrow-4 will be an advanced, innovative interceptor missile with enhanced capabilities. It will address a wide range of evolving threats in the region and will replace the Arrow-2 interceptors over the next decades. Its development is led by the IMDO and the U.S. MDA, with IAI as the prime contractor for the development and production of the system and its interceptors.

Its not about it being expensive. Israel is a very rich country. But just like the Lavi, An Israeli jet can hurt the American arms industry badly. And this is the main reason. It would harm both Israel and the US

@@asaf6395 Building the Lavi would have been far too expensive for the Israelis as long as there were alternatives. The alternative was the F-16, and it was cheaper (for the same capability) to buy advanced F-16s than it would be to develop the same capability in a Lavi. As pointed out below (by Gabriel Joseph), the US put a ton of pressure on Israel to simply buy F-16s (which were extensively modified) rather than continue developing the Lavi. Interestingly enough, there is a lot of talk that the Israelis then sold their Lavi technology to China in the 90s, where it eventually was developed into the current generation of indigenous Chinese fighters. So perhaps the US would have been better off letting the Israelis develop the Lavi after all!

Actually they love it....the Saudis and the other arab states (with some minor exceptions like Syria) understand that the Israelis share a common enemy with them...the Iranians. The Arrows will limit (if not eliminate) the effectiveness of the Iranian ballistic missiles, and that is a win for everyone in the region.
