Both the cars share the same platform and engine.. Mileage will slightly be better in the nios given it's aerodynamic shape and design

U can buy Alto ,best for city ride.

@@mrpatil507 sir... I have driven both the cars.. I chose nios coz it's a better car to drive in terms of stabilty, rear seat comfort when compared to the Exter. Both the cars share the same engine and platform but i would prefer a nios which has a lesser ground clearance and this will really help the car on highway drives.

Sir out of all these options, I would suggest you the Grand i10 nios..... Ignis zeta will also be a good option but the safety and build quality will be a question keeping in mind your family. Tiago has got the best build quality but has a 3 cylinder engine and the nvh levels are way higher....
