We use Hakko stations at work. I like them quite a bit.
Great vid. Great to see Leslie with that camera. High quality gear and serious photography.
Love my Hakko.
So you LIKE Aussie soLdering irons hey? Hakko are a good brand too! I like Wellers tho! Every electronic/computer place I ever worked at used Wellers!
Yo Dylan, have you considered doing a pickup review for Bareknuckle pickups? Your reviews are always really fair, i'd be interested in to hear your thoughts on them since they are a bit pricey (compared to others)
The software you're using for your Livestream that gives you those banners or logos uptop and then allows you to put the comments up on the video is really slick!
I switched to Hakko over a decade ago, after countless Wellers falling apart.

I realized one day I had 3 different Wellers stuck in various tool boxes and I never used any of them b/c none of them seemed to work right or get hot enough. This vid makes so much sense and I'm going to order a Hakko station.
Love this new tool channel... Also, nice Benchmade. So refreshing to see dudes using actual knives instead of a kitchen utensil or box cutter.
Another great video as always.
I was thinking about picking up that soldering station too. I wish there was an option for a standard black housing, but oh well. That coloring is Hakko's thing anyway
Great Video, I have the same one I got recently. Your video confirmed that I made the right choice as well. I also 2 complete tip packages for different applications. You're very right about the sponge I never use it since I have the brass brillo pad thingy. I can't remember the correct terminology for this comment.
What do you think of lead-free solder? I just learned that lead-free solder melts at a higher temperature and doesn't flow as readily as 60/40 tin/lead solder. I've been using lead-free for years, and just thought I was really bad at soldering.
i just bought the identical unit a couple weeks ago. it's MUCH better than the shit unit that stew mac sold me a few months ago

If 700° is 700° and a soldering iron tip is a soldering iron tip, what do you think accounts for the performance difference between the two irons? Is it that the Weller isn’t actually putting out that heat, the Weller isn’t delivering consistent heat, or something else?
@karaokedogs2618

The key issue is that the thermal mass of the object being soldered causes heat to flow out of the iron and into soldered object,, leading to temperature drop of the soldering iron. The better Hakkos have a temperature sensor built into the tip, which speeds up the response time of the temperature controller and keeps the tip temperature more consistent (the champions in this regard are the pricey Metcals). If your soldering iron doesn’t have a fast-response temperature controller, you can ease the problems of tip cooling by either choosing a heavier tip (greater thermal mass), or soldering with two irons at once.
Nice video apart from the background music which is distracting especially in the wildlife section.
5:46 He touched that humbucker with a bare hand, but it must be hot. oof.

The world is barely even ready for 4K videos, you have no need to do livestreams in 4K lol

@@EarthSouthside The people who will complain are probably the gamers and tech nerds. Personally I was surprised when I noticed 720p no longer counted as HD! Didn't think about the editing side of the higher resolutions, though. Definitely see a value there! Shoot in 16K to make the best 144p video possible!
