I won this Twin Turbo AWD Police Car for $5K from Auction! They Made a BIG Mistake!
IDK who let this one go for so cheap but I should be arrested for THEFT! This thing is a twin turbo v6 with almost 400hp and it's a police interceptor!

One hour of engine idle time is equal to 33 miles of driving, according to Ford. 4800 hours equals 158,000 miles so mileage equivalent is around 300,000.
Twin turbos and all-wheel drive makes it a true Taurus SHO. Remember that police departments don't care about fuel mileage and they have a full-time maintenance department, unlike the retail public.
With a 3 bar map sensor, cooler thermostat and spark plugs along with an SCT tuner you can make that thing an absolute monster
Whatever you do, do NOT add a light bar to that car. Impersonating a police officer is a FELONY and they WILL put you in PRISON if they see that driving around town. You have been warned.
Those are great cars. I drove a 2013 Taurus Interceptor for almost 10 years while I was a patrol officer. I thoroughly enjoyed the car. Only problem I had with it was when the steering sensor went out.
That car was never used for patrol. That car looks like it was used for administrative use. An upper-level official drove that to and from work and for his duties. I would say you scored on that puppy. A police Chief in some large city drove that car. Nothing but the best for the Chief....lol. No sign of any markings or emblems ever being on it. It is so clean it has been babied.
Any time anything is put up for auction, it should sell for the highest bid, unless there’s a reserve. Otherwise they shouldn’t be calling it an auction.
They usually Disconnect the lights and stuff when they send it to the auction
That is a clean interceptor. I’ve owned several and just love them. Change the PTU fluid ASAP and watch for leaking water pump. Should be a wire under the dash for the horn that they cut. The braces in the trunk are only on interceptor models and what gives it the 5 star rear end crash rating. Back seat is vinyl but feels like leather.
That’s my car that I traded in a couple months ago. If you want the siren/air horn to work there’s a breaker under the hood on the battery. As for the normal horn, you just need the red switch on the siren controller turned off and it will work. I got it from a dealership in Ohio after a local department traded it in around 110k. I still have the cage for the back if you’re interested.
The is the cleanest Ford Taurus I've seen. Normally things are falling apart in them. Great find Randy!
My cruiser is a 2015 AWD Taurus with 113000 miles and almost 18000 engine hours. Handling is incredible, especially on wet roads. With all my gear on, it's not that comfortable after 8 hours of driving. Great find though.
As for the horn, there is a loop located under the lower center of the dashboard. Sometimes they cut the horn wires and splice in the siren control.
They must have really taken care of it. It looks great for as much mileage as it has.
The MPG was probably a lot of idling. Mine gets 28 to 32 on highway.
That driver had expired tags, but you had no tags. L O L
The siren box likely just had the fuse pulled or the breaker under the hood turned off. I’d check that.
Depending upon the agency that it came from, most Police cars are ridiculously and meticulously maintained as a matter of necessity. I think you got a great deal and a great car!
5k is around what they sell on the used market, but this one is much nicer than what the 5k ones look like. Great find!
That 1940 Chevy is top notch, they couldn’t have picked a better color! I completely understand the struggle about getting rid of it!
