I vicariously love Jade, especially in the eating "contests". It is semisweet to see signs of aging in our pets. Older dogs bring a different joy into our lives. It's lucky that you have a video record of all your pups! I wish that they could live forever too but I wouldn't trade having them because we had to say goodbye too soon! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your comment. The pain of losing my shepherd in May hurts so that I think I’ll never get past it but your comment is an encouragement maybe I will. For now I enjoy other people’s dogs

This hit me hard. God... I am in tears. We are on our 3rd GSD in my 30 years as a human and she is so sweet. We lost our first at 16 yrs old and our 2nd at 1yr11month years old. I just tucked my sweet girl to bed for the night and the look she gives me gets to me every time. Hug, kiss and spend as much time with your animals as much as you can.

Having adopted rescues and then having to say goodbye, when you don't think your heart can endure another "goodbye" of one of our treasured doggo family members, we open our homes and hearts to yet another--never to replace one that we've lost, as they are all unique just like humans, but we'll love them just as much for their uniqueness and what they bring to our lives. I have come to believe that no matter how long a dog lives, it simple will never be long enough. I do know that as flawed a human as I am, I am without question a better version of me for having shared my life with dogs.

They never live long enough. They are never replaced, only succeeded.

I will be 49 in October. I didn't get my first dog that was mine until 2006. I actually got to see him be born. Georgie was almost 11 when he passed in 2016. I held him long after his last breath. He saved my life. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. Now I have 8 dogs and every now and then I remember they are just heart aches waiting to happen. I promise it is worth it. Thank you for the awesome videos.

I really felt the tears coming...I lost my eldest Kyi-Leo dog, Jo-Zi, late January. She was 19 years, 2 months and 10 days...she passed on her own in my arms. Teddy, her doggie great nephew, and I can now smile and laugh about our best memories with Jo...always in my heart and never, ever forgotten. The bond is the strongest.

Life is too short especially for dogs. I just lost the joy of my life for the last 13 years. Enjoy every moment you have together.

Such a tender story. My current dog is a female GS and she is 10 1/2 years young. She’s my 3 and probably last GSD due to my age and or circumstances. I watch your videos because they are so cute and many parts remind me of her or one of my other dogs. The antics are never ending, even at her age. I can so relate to this. I lost two of our beloved kitties one in September and one in July. They were both 17 years old so we had them for a good long time. Even if they live to be 100 it would still be horrible when they have to leave us. I still cry everyday. a love so deep also means eventually a grief so deep. Enjoy your animals, I enjoy watching your videos.

I, too, wish they could live forever. The joy that everyone of my fur children have brought me over the years has kept me going.

I lost my GSD Koga just this year. Woke up on New Years Day. He hid from us in his last moments and I just wish I couldve been there for him. Maybe hed still be here if I was.. I miss you, Koga.

They only spend a short time in our lives. I’ve had a dozen rescue dogs over the years, sometimes two or three at a time. They’ve all been wonderful, but three of those dogs were my soulmates. Their passing was a crushing blow. But my house is filled with their pictures - more than my own children! - and the great memories remain.

Yeah, I am dreading the day. Both my girls are 12 years old now and definitively are showing their age. I can't imagine what it's gonna be like not having them both around in a few years.

We are blessed to have been their whole life and saddened they are just a part of our lives. Love each of them when you are lucky enough to have another one.

Karen, why are you doing this to me?? 😭 I had both my beagle girls for 17 1/2 years each and I treasure every memory (and the 5 million pictures!) I have of them! My younger one hasn’t been gone a year yet and people still ask all the time when I’ll get another one. Never say never, one day I’ll be able to open my heart for a new generation of puppers! ❤

Yes, it’s just heartbreaking to lose a fur baby - I lost my beloved chocolate Lab, Abby, to cancer 5 years ago & I still miss her terribly - she was the dog of my heart - she was 13 but it just passed by in the blink of an eye - I’ll never be completely over the loss of her 💔

She was and still is a beautiful girl despite her few grey chin hairs!

I know. It kills me when I look at mine. I have 2 girls that are close in age, 10 and 11. Then a girl that's almost 8, a male that's 7 and another female that's 5. It is nice when they reach the older age and all of their training clicks, and they are perfect angels but at the same time, you start noticing the naps get longer and more often. I know the time I have gets shorter and sometimes I want to sit down and cry. Especially with this group. 😢 I do feel blessed to have had the best breed in my life for the last 25-30 yrs. Even though I have 5 of my own, my husband and I like to watch yours, nod because we know...oh that's a gsd thing... or know that your dogs won't steal food because you trained them well and they are trained gsd's....or the naughty things they might do, because that too is something it seems every gsd we have ever had or met acts the same. I vow to be able to dremmel ALL of my dogs, not just 3 of them...lol I show them yours and yes, they will watch your dogs with cocked heads. I hope that dreaded day is long in coming for all of us!!!! 🐾❤🐾

We live much longer than dogs, so loss is inevitable in our relationship with them. But dogs do not want us to be sad. When they are gone, I think they want us to remember them but not to be overcome with grief and lasting sadness. Your dog does not want to be the reason you are sad after they are gone. Also, I think it's important to focus on the here and now, where we can love the dog, and experience that with all out faculties- rather than spending some of our emotional energy projecting into a future where they are gone. The dogs want all your attention to be focussed on THEM rather than being lost in a melancholy reverie.

Two weeks ago, I just lost my dog Max, a 16 year old retriever mix. I’ve had him at 4-5 weeks old. He was a rescue and such a great dog.🦮🕊🦋

I’ve had to put 3 dogs down. The 3 worst days of my life. I will never forget them.
