I Went To Rehab - My Experience

Rehab has been something I’ve gotten a lot of questions about since I went in January 2019. I totally understand why as it’s something that is kept very hidden and hardly spoken about. As I have no shame, I don’t mind sharing my experience! Also, I had such a good time it feels appropriate to talk about it as I know there’s so many negative stories out there. If you’ve got any questions, let me know in the comments below. If I get enough, I’ll do a follow up Q and A. Thanks so much for watching, have a happy day! Janet x

So glad you found your way back. I tried so many times to put the bottle down but the day my now wife got pregnant I've not picked it up since, 12 years on. Therapy for my PTSD has helped me along with my kids.

One is to many and ten is never enough!!! THats the truth about any addiction. I am a recovering addict myself. I have been clean for 8 years now. I do not drink or any drugs, but at times it gets tough. What i love about you janet is your willingness to speak the truth hoping someone else will hear what your saying and maybe go to rehab or doctor or whatever it takes for their addiction. Your a Boss, Never lose that about yourself, its hard to find these days!!! You are a beautiful human!!!!

I spent 6 months in Ark House Rehab, saved me from my self, found the rooms on leaving, and now have the privilege of working in the very same rehab for the past 9 years, I'm very blessed to have this in my life today, thank you for speaking on this subject, 🙏

As someone who's lost their mum at a young age, and felt similar things to you... Your mum will never be disappointed with you/ in you. ❤️ I'm so proud you got the help you needed. I'm still working on myself and my problems.

My heart goes out to you Janet. We've all lost lovely people. I lost my high school sweet heart after 37 years of marriage to cancer. Spent the last 4 years recovering from grief. Like you, I finally escaped the 'bubble' of emotionlessness and can 'feel' life again. So glad you found help, friends and life again. I wish people would have been there for me. Thank you so much for continuing to give of yourself to help others. I'm absolutely thrilled to see you happy and healthy. You inspire me. Thank you.

After watching this amazingly honest and eye opening video; I am finally beginning to understand why I never want to stop supporting you. You give me strength. When I think I am having a bad day I just remember all that you have overcome and count my blessings. And I pray you never need rehab ever again. Thank you for sharing your life with us. You make a difference. 🙏

Glad that you've shared this. It's important for addicts your age to see that they are not alone and that there is a way out. You mentioned it in that you were glad to have people your age there with you. Keep sharing, you save two lives - your own and the person's that is ready to hear what you have to share.

Thanks for talking so openly about it! It’s great to hear you tear down some of the stigma of rehab and describe it as a place that can help you change for the better! 💙

I adore you so much for posting this Janet! I went to rehab for drug addictions at the start of 2020 and it was amazing for so many of the reasons you described. The closeness that you form with other addicts is like nothing else and you made me laugh so much remembering silly adventures and ways we were treated like children. I'm also really happy that you expressed the severity of benzodiazepine addiction as it's one of the most insidious yet dangerous, as in the withdrawal can actually kill you. And this isn't as widely known as it should be. I'm so proud of you and I know how difficult this is 💚💚💚
