I talked about this with my friend about how we wished the villagers were still mean or at least still a little mean (especially the snooty and cranky types) like the old games. Cause it made interactions interesting, it gave you drama and it actually have you a reason to hate a villager that wasn’t just cause they’re ugly.

They used to talk so much! I had a normal villager telling me they found a letter a few days ago and then I waited til they showed me the letter like in WW but it never came the subject closed and the dialog too 💀

exactly, i hated pudge so much in WW cause he was just so rude but now i have no reason to hate any villager unless theyre jocks cause only jocks seem to point out that my clothes look bad in their opinion (so far at least lmao)

I didn't find anyone despite hunting for nearly 24 hours straight (I know in my defence I am stupid) and ran out of tickets so that was. .. An event.

I found Sherb on one of my first mystery island (where you craft the items for their homes) I thought he was cute so I took him, but then he sent me a dolly in the mail which was weird but I ignored it. Not long after I saw him with a thought bubble, so I thought he was leaving which I didn’t mind. Instead, he said something along the lines of “I have too many magnetic knife racks, then handed one over to me and then said, sorry but I need you to take it”. Kicked him off immediately

I have a similar story to your story about Rodney So it was a lovely day in New Leaf and I was just strolling around and saw a pretty empty looking area in my town and I thought “I know, I’ll put a rainbow spiral of flowers here!” Now I spent ages getting all of the different colours of the flowers (I didn’t time travel at the time so this took a few days) and then I finally finished it. I was so happy with it and then I logged off for the day. A few days after I finished it, I logged in and was like “oh! I’ll go look at my cool flower spiral I made!” And when I got there. The flowers were gone. Want to know why? BECAUSE STUPID MONIQUE PLACED HER HOUSE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOWERS 😀🔫

okay i’ve had sherb since i chose my 3 villagers at the beginning of the game and honestly i kind of like the idea of him being vaguely psychotic? like we don’t really have anyone who can fight, our snooty villagers could make anyone cry but if someone was invading the island with guns we’d be in trouble, but then sherb appears out of nowhere with a copious amount of knives and his happy little ( ^ω^ ) face

i agree with ur stance on ugly villager hate, but im sorry i cant tolerate the gorilla villagers. i have a huge fear of gorillas because of that spongebob episode where he got ripped in half by a gorilla. rillaboom makes me go into primal panic. its the howling that scares me they just have massive teeth and massive muscles and silverbacks could rip me to ribbons without breaking a sweat

I'm so jealous that you got to go to Medieval Times on your elementary field trip and I got trauma from this freaky indoor anatomy park that had giant body parts we "explored". Pure trauma.

Amateur, I bought a ring which cost quite a lot and I was testing how the mechanics work in the game and Eugene came to me and trade it with a boring shirt. (I was supposed to give it for free anyway )

Omg your experience with Rodney was my experience with Gwen. She gave me an awful nickname and said some patronising comments and I wanted her out. I did everything I could like hitting her with a shovel, pushing her in pitfall holes, not talking to her and eventually she considered leaving. I was so happy I said yes leave and she turned around and made some snappy comment about not leaving that easily and stayed! I was fuming 🤣😂 so I get the hatred 😅

I remember one time my starter villager Fuschia moved out and I didn't touch the game for a week and when I came back the plot was autofilled by Cole. I haven't talked to him even once since he moved in.

Omg I HATE Rodney!! 😂 my husband had him in his island and tried to kick him out for ages because he found him a bit annoying and when he finally kicked him out of his island , he ENDED UP IN MINE because I had an open plot 😩. I had two open plots and filled one and didn’t know villagers could come from other islands. So he moved in and was super annoying and creepy, he would hit on Ankha , and would hide at random areas and sing without a radio in sight around the island, so sometimes I’d just hear singing but not see him. I would just ignore him, and one day I hardly pushed him trying to get around him and he started acting like I beat him up 😆, so I started to gift him trash 😝 . He was so … annoying, and remembered by husband from living in his island. It took me like two months to finally get rid of him.

The "singing without a radio in sight" (or microphone) anywhere on the island beides the plaza is a thing all villagers with the singing hobby can do.

In my new leaf town i put my house on its own corner and put flowers everywhere in a pattern and loved how it looked! (This was before the amiibo update where it prevents villagers from putting their houses on your flowers) I woke up to a house immediately in front of my door and i was so upset! It was Bella and she trampled all of my flowers! Now I still don't like her. XD

Ok abt the stop hating on the ugly villagers: U R SOOOO RIGHT! Ok my story on why i LOOOOOVE renée and i miss her soo much: So i had this town (the name doesn't matter), and she was my starter. At first I didn't rlly like her so i was planning to kick her but she grew on me for three reasons: 1. SHE FRIGGING COOL 2. She came to my bday party 😌✨ 3. She sent me a letter telling me that she found some pics of her and her old friends doing cringey things, AND THE EPILOGUE OF THIS LETTER LITERALLY WAS: still cringing abt these, Renée. This was when i said: I LOVE RENÉE WITH MY WHOLE HEART.

My fave “ugly villager” is Hazel. A lot of people hate her cuz of the unibrow and uni-wow catchphrase but she was one of my first starter villagers and I love her so much. Shes just an icon. Slay that unibrow girl

there actually is a method for placing villager houses in new leaf, welcome amiibo made it so villagers can no longer move on top of paths, so you can place pathing around your town to force them to move into a certain spot. i used that method in my current town to place my villager houses in a line, it’s a huge pain in the ass but it’s worth to not have them move in front of your buildings
