What irritates me the most is the fact that Noah’s considered a bad boy when in reality he shouldn’t have to be. He’s a privileged white guy with loving parents, has a beautiful house with a pool, gets accepted to Harvard for some reason, has a car, plays sports, is attractive, isn’t addicted to drugs etc. The only thing making him seem as “bad” is the constant fighting, but still, what the hell is making him fight in the first place?? There’s no trauma or struggle anywhere in his life to motivate that.

He has anger issues HUGE RED FLAG: When his little brother find them together and Elle is hurt he thinks the brother did it! They tried to make him Christian Gray but spoiler alert Christian Gray Is awful and shouldn’t be duplicated! He gets into fights all the time! Fights that he starts! and the funniest thing is she doesn't even look sexy or slutty or revealing. ppl who tells girls this often are just perverted because the girls don't look slutty or sloppy or revealing in any way. I've literally worn full outfits (I'm very conservative), in work clothes, anything that just looks nice and that's apparently inviting as well. so the mindset is just a bs excuse for harassment. OK so a psychological horror marketed as a romance. And we watch this toxic man or woman deal with their partner in very toxic ways but the main character still convinces themself that their partner loves them and maybe the main character even does love them (the love interest). And it’s a way to kind of demonstrate how hard it can be to detangle yourself from a toxic or abusive relationship because your mind plays tricks on you and convinces you that it’s normal, that it’s healthy, that it’s OK, that’s justifiable. And we watch them as they struggle to get away and escape, made more difficult because they cut off all other ties because the love interest convince him that those people are bad for them. But it doesn’t end once the main character escapes because it doesn’t just end once you get out of abusive relationship. There’s still recovery and relearning your value or learning it for the first time in some cases. They’re still learning who to trust you can’t be trusted. There’s trying to rebuild yourself into something without them. This abuse and this trauma isn’t romanticize. This is what is happened to so many people and what is continuing to happen to so many people and this would be a statement about why it’s dangerous to idolize these abusive and toxic relationships. I do say all of this knowing full well that the “romantic lead” who is pretty obviously abusive and toxic and horrible and (maybe hopefully dead by the end) would be romanticized.
