Yes, I definitely remember the #262 days. I'm curious whether there had to be any "non-golf" components to achieve this speed? Is it all technique and mental or did he also have to make body changes? Stretching, diet, strength, etc.??

I've followed your channels since 2013. I avg 208 on the course (SS data) - due to mishits and the ball going errant (smother hook) - trees tend to shorten drives. When I go to the driving range I spend about 20 balls with my driver and swing out of my socks. It actually helps me keep distances up with all clubs especially as I age.

I've been watching your channel for years and you have absolutely transformed my game in that time. I've gone from mid 90s to low 80s in about the last 4 years. I've gone from hitting a MASSIVE slice to bringing it into a fade that misses right from time to time. Every time I watch a video of yours, I pull a club out and start swinging away in my living room (much to the chagrin of my wife and cats) to see if I can incorporate the new information into my swing. That being said, you blew my mind with the wall analogy. My hip sway is gone (been trying to fix that for months) and I feel so much more stable throughout the swing. Thank you for that, Mark. Keep going and thank you for your content.

I have been completely changing my golf swing looking to gain primarily consistent and more accuracy while having distance as a secondary goal. I was swinging extremely hard and still only getting 105mph club speed really giving it everything I have. Only when I found 3 videos, this being one of them, am I putting all the pieces together and realizing the problems. Everything in your "before" is what I was doing. I've increased my accuracy significantly, increased my club speed to 115, while hardly swinging the club (at least compared to previous). I'm excited to put it all together and get out on the course this year. This video seems to put the whole picture in perspective. Great job mate. :D

Mark, congratulations on 320+. I first discovered you in 2017 while my newborn twin girls were in NICU. Your energy and excitement inspired me to make a return to playing golf. From 2005-2012 I could shoot under par on any given day. A severe back injury put a stop to all that and I lost all interest in golf. I tried to play a few times but I'd lost all feel of the club and my power was gone. It wasn't till you that I started to find all that again. I still bag a set of Mizuno mp-32's I bought brand new. With your help I hope to return them to their glory days. Thank you so much for helping me rebuild my game and find the joy of golf again! Many blessings to you my friend!

Mark this is excellent content. As a ‘safe’ scratch golfer growing up with the end of persimmon and balata in the 90s hitting fairways was my skill. Distance, not so much. As I’m now mid 40s I want to unlock my potential and gain yards. Working on my body I’ve lost 6 stone in weight and with a physio/trainer ensure I’m injury free and mobile and improving swing mechanics with Damian Taylor. I’m working on exactly the same as you to unlock that distance puzzle. Makes so much sense so anyone else watching … Mark is on the money here. I’m a 150 ball speed wafter and working on 160 and then 165 as my goal for next summer. The ‘intent’ you emphasis … is key. Thanks Mark. Fantastic content. 🎉

This video makes me happy inside. I've been following this channel for years. It's been my stable go to for entertainment and a source of things to think about. All this time, the one splinter in my mind has been your distances hit Mark. I'm in my mid 40's and I comfortably sit in the late 160MPH 300yard drives. I'm not bragging. I've just wished for years that you would unshackle yourself a little and hit bloody thing harder. And today the day has finally come where I see the golf swing I've believed for years that you could do. The next step might be to slide that front leg out of the way a touch to slam some mighty 300+ bombs. It's a drug. Once you've gone 300 you can't go back. Love your work, mate! Now get yourself down under! There are hordes waiting to have a round with you.

I enjoy watching an established and knowledgeable person journey through changes that challenge "old" ways of thinking and embrace trial and error (using quantifiable data in your case). I know I've picked up several nuggets from your videos that have helped me in my attempts to get better, specifically since early 2020. I can proudly say, with the help of one lesson (iron striking/compressing the ball) and committing to getting better (well, as much as a weekend hacker can), I have seen big distance gains across my bag--at least 2 clubs with irons and ~30 yards in performance average with the driver (according to Shot Scope--244 yds in 2020, longest 278 yds, pre-lesson, vs. 273 yds as of today, longest of 330 yds). Even better, I finally broke 90 last year and have 2 rounds of 86 under my belt this season! This is huge for me!!! I can't count how many times you've recommended getting lessons, but I'm happy I finally listened! Cheers Mark 🍻

Worked so hard with vertical forces and now seeing the improvements. I was 98 mph with driver. I’m now 106 and rising. Improved rotation. Better strike. Exactly my story. Was off 4, now out to 8 (recent family loss etc.), around 100 mph and feeling like I'm not likely to get below 4 (bit of work to do to get back there however). Big motivation in the form of a 13yo son (only 36kg and 150cm) who is now singles and hitting his driver 200m at around 85% fairways hit. He can beat me off the stick, but I can still outdrive him and I want to keep it that way for some time yet! At 55 I hope there is still hope. Great to hear of your success Mark. Great video Mark. I had similar revolations recently with my general golf game. I felt I wasn't getting the distances I once had and fell into a trap of playing safe golf and then into a lazy swing. I suddenly thought to myself my swing needs to be more athletic and powerful. I gripped the club slightly tighter ans used my shoulders to turn rather than my arms leading the takeaway. Then on down swing to pivot my hips to start downswing and really jump into my lead foot. Some how it worked and started hitting ball further and dispersion was pretty good, if not better.

The great thing is being able to dial it back into that controllable swing on the course and getting a solid 8-10yds. deeper on a lot of holes. Already have seen it on several par 5's last month. My old "max" is my new average and my new average is getting that 1.5 smash sending it out to 250 carry range. I'll check out more videos. My goal is to crack into the 150+ ballspeeds and stay there. Get my new max to be my new "average" swing by next spring.

Loving this! Pressing hard is something I’m always guilty of, costs me a lot of shots but basically my intent is there!! Just lacking in face control, a problem that I’ve had in my entire 20+ years of playing. If I try to play safe the problems are still there, so why not ‘intend’ to get closer all the time..?! The psychological reward is there when it works even if the reality is still your overall score doesn’t improve, it’s those rewards that keep us coming back to the course time and time again as amateurs.. Well done on that 320 tho, seriously, you can go to the course now knowing those 280 , 290 greens are easily within your ability to hit or at worst get pin high for birdie opportunity without forcing it. Nice work!

So I recently went for a lesson and it changed me completely. Stronger grip and more hip movement in the back swing has left me with more space to get after the ball. It feels totally alien but the improvements or distance and ball flight out weight the old reliable feelings I have 💣

Great video Mark! Just when you think you've heard it all, someone brings something new. Biggest thing I took was the strong grip and angle. I know that is where I fail. I have some good speed, but also put way to much spin on the the ball. I've always struggled with that. Been fitted, doesn't matter. I will definitely be trying these techniques. This could be just the answer I've been looking for, for a long time now. can't wait to try it. Thanks Mark!

Magic instruction Mark, the mental commitment side so helpful and the reaction to hitting ur target distance again at the 8min 40sec in is brilliant a skill in itself. Cheers Gordie.

Great content as always Mr Crossfield , plus possibly the best advice on YT which starts at 10.20 you need to get it wrong ( the only way to get better is doing it wrong enough times to work out where better is ).. I can't tell you how much my game improved once I embraced that concept many moons ago , funny thing is we are told all our lives to keep trying . and when we fail, try try again , funny that !

Well done Mark, After a long layoff through commitments and then illness I am now back playing and trying to change my swing totally I was never long but pretty accurate and at the moment the swing speed and ball compression is starting to arrive but your right it's soooo hard to have the intent when I could hit 2 clubs more and not be 40 yards left and right of where I aimed. This video has spurred me on to keep persevering longer at least so more videos on this topic would be welcomed by me at least 👍

Good on you Mark, never stop trying to push the limits.. I just did one of mine too. The other day ,while still autumn, good weather,, First hole,, I hit the drive, passing the bunker on the right, I got on the green, at, 287m,, had a laugh,, met 2 mates on the back 9, mentioned the drive on one,, they said ye but can you do it on 10,, It had left and right front bunkers ,I hit my drive, Passing both bunkers,I got on the green while group in front were still putting,, They couldn't hear us yell out FOOUUR! that was 293m.. I finally did the double,, 1&10 same day.. that was one of my bucket lists. At 62, age is just a number for me,, I'm an 8 H/C and the next goal is scratch, and that is 90% putting for me. Sure there are scratch player in their 60's but my driving still gets people asking How do you do it.. Limits are challenges and challenges are opportunities. well done,, keep inspiring.

Excellent. Someone finally explained why I’ve gained 30 yards to my drive. I am usually happy with a 260 drive. So I adjusted a few things that you mentioned on vacation and hit a session on the driving range, Felt solid. I forget my launch monitor at home. So no idea I gained distance. Step up to a par 4 with water at 300 about 70 odd yards from green. Blind tee shot over a hill. I’m expecting my ball 260-270 roll out and I’m in the water. So now I’ve got to get to the launch monitor and figure things out.

Mark, the gems in your back catalogue appear to have no end. I missed this one when it was released (I am subscribed and belled but life must have put up a blocker!) Wish I had a launch monitor for that feedback required to commit as you say but we can still push the belief by watching the end result beyond some numbers on the screen. Great video, yet again.

Congrats on finally hitting that green!!! It would be great to see a video of different ideas about how you use your legs, when I try it how you’ve explained previously I find myself almost falling back after hitting the ball and feel like my right leg almost gets over taken by the jump motion. Thanks for the videos and again congrats!

Honestly I have seen this because I went to a facility where it had a Toptracer bay, but not using the standard balls that come with it. What i noticed is that the harder I tried to over swing, i actually started to (mostly) hit the ball straighter than i ever have when I am just trying to swing within myself. i was getting up to 167 ball speed with driver and carrying it easy 290+ and it would easily hit a 60-65 yards window that I block practice for. You're on to something for sure!

This is literally unbelievable. I watched this video last night. Today I stopped in a local golf shop and picked up a driver and applied the ideas you shared and no word of a lie I hit a fair dozen drives carrying in the 280-290 range, in the mid 160s for ball speed. My typical drive at the range and on the course is carries around 250. I've literally never seen such simple advice have such immediate impact. Well done sir!

Congrats Mark! Would love to hear more details about your swing feels vs reals metrics. and especially some slo-mos.. ex: do you feel like you're keeping lead arm pinned to your chest longer or etc... I'm already swing pretty fast but I sadly can't keep it on the planet so It's not as much for speed as much as I love everything technical... I have a radar and sim so it gives something to play with during winter. Thanks

One of my fav vids Mark, currently struggling with said distance off the tee. Averaging 200-210 max with 5 wood, Driver be lucky to get to that. Holding back my game although only been playing 5 months. No facilities in my area (West Suffolk/Norfolk/Cambs) allow driver to be hit at the range so hit a bit of a brick wall and seem to be accepting hitting fairways but leaving myself a 5 iron in.

Great video Mark - very interesting as always! As others have said: Definitely like to see how to time that lead leg movement (and any adjustments to the rest of the swing)- maybe with some ideas as to how it could be measured for those of us without access to force plates, e.g. key moments in a video of the swing(?) I think move the green to 340: looks like you’ll be getting to 330 in no time! 😁👍
