Just swapped my exhaust for a quieter one on my 440 block. Much better as its quiet and you can now hear the induction sound.I find straight thru pipes too loud and detract from the car in my opinion. I had a custom stainless system built. Nice car that charger and i understand how the owner wants to make it all loud, BUT i think a little less is more..balancing the induction sound with the final exhaust note is good way to go

Never was much of a fan of American cars but ones from that period are iconic and a part of our collective history. The sound of this particular example is the epitome of how a big lazy V8 should sound. Also thanks for calling out the corruption that’s going on between government and the oil companies. I personally think it goes far deeper and is more sinister than most people realise. While we should all support a better environment, the science behind global warming is far from conclusive and the idea that EVs are the only solution, or indeed any kind of solution at all is preposterous and utter madness. People need to wake up to this fast before they lose everything that is dear to them.

Straight pipes may hurt performance. Some glasspacks would give you that great sound and at least you'd have back pressure. I have a set running 90 degrees out on either side of my 302 pwd 60 F100.

This along with the engine in a Rover are both cross-plane crank V8s. Flat-plane crank V8s are VERY rare and only built in any number by Ferrari. Some Lotus Esprits had them too. Otherwise great video, loved the Dodge!

Couldn't agree with you two more about this (so called) fuel crisis ! Like your attitude ; no seat belts , smoking behind the wheel and a bad ass car , good to see ! In the early nineties I too had a 1972 Charger SE (special edition) . Main difference being the side windows didn't slant up at an angle , they were just 90 degrees straight . Mine was 400ci (6.6 litre) 4 barrel with a floor shift "slap-stik" shifter 727 torqueflite auto . Slot mags and a white vinyl interior completed the look . Agree the second gen were the best looking Chargers but if I had the choice I'd go for a 1970 Coronet Super Bee with a 440 (hey , I can dream!) Just out of interest Shelly , do you watch Graveyard Carz on youTube ? If not have a look , I think you'll like it .

Sheldon, just FYI - most US V8 are cross-plane, including the Mopar LA block in the '72 Charger. Rover V8 is cross-plane as well from stock, though there are kits to convert the it to flat plane. I don't think the same is available aftermarket for the classic LA or B/RB Mopar blocks. Cross plane is the one with the rumble - even a Rover V8 with the stock crank can burble along like a Mopar LA with the right exhaust. By comparison, a flat plane has a much smoother sound at idle and when one gives it the beans, it breaks into something that sounds straight out of Monza in the 1960's - that "F1" sound some might say upon hearing it. Motoring journalists were besides themselves a few years ago when Ford released the S550-based Shelby GT350 with a flat plane crank - definitely check out a couple of those Shelby exhaust note videos if you have a chance. There's no mistaking the sound once you've heard it.
