That’s known as a “cast gag” R.L being a drama teacher is a reference to Jack black being an actor😊
I typically dislike the quirky aunt character in films, but I'm a fan of Jillian Bell, so I'll allow it. Jack Black is always awesome, plus the RL Stine cameo at the end makes me smile. I think this does solid service to the original series. I didn't grow up watching the series, but I fondly remember watching DVD sets of the show.

I grew up with Goosebumps books and while this movie came out when I was an adult, I freaking love it and it’s on my Halloween movie playlist! I love Jack Black, all the references to the book characters and the humour is great! Also to your comment of Slappy being a horror R rated movie, check out Dead Silence. Slappy traumatized me as a kid and I have never recovered since. I first found out about him in elementary school, I'm now about to start college and I still occasionally have nightmares about waking up to find him sitting at the foot of my bed with all my stuffed animals waiting for me. I'll always be a Goosebumps fan, R.L Stine is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to writing, but there is something about Slappy that just deeply disturbs me and I can't shake the feeling that if he weren't from a kids series he'd be on the same level as Chucky when it comes to killing people

It was pretty good

RL Stine made a few appearances on the tv show. He usually did a quick intro for the bigger episodes like The Haunted Mask 1 & 2, Werewolf of Fever Swamp, and even Night of the Living Dummy 3.
For spooky season, you definitely gotta check out Saw, the original film from 2004! Saw X comes out next week, but the best thing about the new film is that watching the other nine sequels is not required in order to understand.
As a girl who LOVES goosebumps books and shows and movies I’m super happy too see KZreadrs watching it and liking it! Have the BEST day!!
R.L. Stine has always been my favorite author from twelve to now! I read the Fear Street Series and I am trying to get the Fear Street Saga! My favorite Goosebumps and Horrorland books were It Came From Beneath the Sink, Monster Blood & For Breakfast, the Curse of Camp Cold Lake, Revenge of the Living Dummy, The Scream of the Haunted Mask. And yes that was R.L. Stine at the end, which I thought was so freaking cool! Okay... my geeking out is done. It came from beneath the sink scarred me, I mean I hated having to look in the cabinet underneath ANY sink! Favorite flavored soda, Pepsi or Dr. Pepper - apparently liking Pepsi is blasphemy for a Texan 🙄
I was bummed that only Jack Black returned for the sequel but it was alright. It has the beautiful Madison Iseman from the Jumanji movies and Jeremy Ray Taylor from the It movies plays her little brother.

When Mr. Stine (Jack Black) said he sold more books than Stephen King that was actually true. King has sold over 300 - 350 million books while R.L. Stine has sold over 100 - 400 million.
If you liked Goosebumps, another Halloween movie that is similar to this one, but much darker and more intense, I’d highly recommend that you check out Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
for me goosebumps and the haunting hour (also by R.L. Stine) is what introduced me to horror as a kid, imo the haunting hour is more chilling but goosebumps is just one of the og’s every episode is so nostalgic like that one episode of that weird monster librarian who eats bugs. that’s the episode i think about when i think goosebumps also the slappy episodes 😭
when I was in middle school my mom worked as a special Ed nurse at the same school. I loved getting to see her everyday and my friends thought she was the coolest. It was always fun getting to say hi to her when I was walking with my friends in the hall lol. Now that I’m an adult I wish I could go back cause I miss those times 😭😂
Not so much watching the show, but I did grow up reading the books. I had the whole collection of Goosebumps books, which I passed on once I hit high school. Although, I did keep a couple that were my favorites. LOL actually not sure if they're still floating around my apartment somewhere or if I've given the last two or three away.
Speaking of watching anything with Jack Black, I strongly recommend "the house with a clock in its walls" #bingers It's a great movie for spooky season. 😁

My favorite "Goosebumps" episodes I loved when I was a kid were "Night of the Living Dummy" and "the Haunted Mask" part 1 and 2.
The first time I was introduced to Goosebumps was through my Elementary School's library and Blockbuster. I didn't like Goosebumps because the covers scared me. One day while my class (I was 7 years-old at the time) was at the library, after we picked our books, she would on a video. She put on the first episode of Goosebumps, "The Haunted Mask." It scared me so much I got into trouble on purpose just so she would punish me, and I didn't have to watch the rest of it. I had to write down 10-20 definitions from the dictionary before she let me go. It wasn't until I was 14 years old that I was able to handle watching Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark. I love watching them now and I look forward to the new 2023 Goosebumps series.

Billy u hittin points close to home rn •I never had money for the Scholastic Book Fair, except for once, when I dug up a whOle lotta quarters and ended up with $6 I bought a pointer, the books I wanted we're still too pricy. •My mother worked at my Elementary school for a good year, it wasn't bad, I was too young to feel embarrassed about it, plus I could always chill in her office if I wasn't feelin to well. •In high school my family would forget about picking me up, they always assumed I took the bus and was just being real quiet in my shared room. (Emphasis on SHARED, as in someone else was living in it too, and yet no one noticed I wasn't in there. ) I lived about 11mins from school, which isn't a bad drive... But I had to walk home on nights I figured they were just never gonna come. A good hour and some change walk. When I tell u I got home BUSTED UP, sometimes from rain, and they'd say " oh snap we thought u were in the room, hi😋"..... 😑im still bitter..
I loved this Goosebumps movie and the second one and I got all of the references of the books and the monsters
Slappy was my arch-nemesis when I was a child growing up watching the goosebumps tv show.....that doll (all dolls) scare the fudge out of me. Definitely the scariest monster in the series - could easily kill anyone if he wanted, versus the horrible pranks that came close to it, honestly XD
Yep, that was the real R.L. Stine. And did you notice that he was called "Mr Black"? As in Jack Black. A fun little name swap bit😅
My mom worked at my school and it helped my anxiety soo much. I had such a hard time when we had to go to separate schools when my town's school closed.
20:00 well there is a horror movie about a ventriloquist dummy that kinda looks like slappy. It's called "Dead Silence". It's from 2007. Should check it out sometime lol. #bingers
The Haunting Hour i have not seen in ages but after watching this might go rewatch it. Goosebumps wasnt part of my childhood but a lot of classmates were obsessed with the series. Loved how much you got excited seeing your characters. Sadly most of my cartoon/book live action characters tend to fall flat. Winx Club, Percy Jackson.
Slappy used the same car throughout the movie. 'Cause it's a Goosebumps monster as well. The Haunted Car.
OMG @billybinges LOVED THE GOOSEBUMPS MOVIES , answering ur question yes im a bookworm since middle school, and goosebumps books was my daily read everytime i went to the library , then in my teens in highschool i watched the tv series and other spin offs smh all good 👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏✌✌✌✌😌😌
I love this movie, i hadven’t seen it in a while, heard they did a sequel a while back now but i haven’t seen it maybe it’s because it dosen’t have Jack Black in it and newer characters maybe that’s why, but i will probably watch this movie again for Halloween or something. But saying that i do want to see the sequel if i can get a chance to see it.
Yes, Dylan Minnette did play the suicidal kid on "13 Reasons Why" , he was also Donnie Gill/Blizzard on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and was on "R.L. Stine`s The Haunting Hour" in his teens.

Clay wasn’t the suicidal one, he was the one who was in love with the suicidal girl named Hannah
Mr. Black is indeed the real R.L. Stine! Love a cameo!
Man I love this movie! I try to watch it every Halloween. Funny reaction

Scary stories to tell in the dark was pretty good
5:10 my mom works at my old elementary school. When I was still there I got to leave early so it was pretty great
In my MIDDLE school we had casual dances once a month after school and it was pretty much the club 😂
Stephen king is like r.l stine for adults, Stephen king definitely has scarier stories imo
