this is a really well made video. Season 1 is a great season, but definitely not the best. Season 2 is where it starts to pick up more adult aspects unlike Season 1. Lauren Faust, the creator of the show, wanted it to be a family show, and Hasbro agreed. They did lean more into the children side for the first season, though. Also, Earth ponies have a lot of strength.

Hi. Im also a fairly new MLP fan. I dont have much to say that hasnt already been said by more experienced and knowledgeable individuals. But I would really suggest continuing along with this series. Also, small note. Nightmare Moon is the evil persona of the princess of the moon. Her name before she cracked was Luna, and after the defeat of Nightmare Moon, she reverts back to her previous form and name and resumes the job of raising the moon. She also watches over ponies as they sleep and may enter their dreams to help them or give them advice on troubles they may be having.

the lore of this show is super fun to get invested with, callbacks galor and most characters reoccur. can't wait to see you dive deep as the show is 9 seasons long with movies and spin off series (like equestria girls) that also tie in with the show. great video 💙

Great review! Season one definitely has its flaws, but imo it does a great job setting up the world and characters. The seasons definitely get better as the show progresses, and season 2 is where things really pick up. The animations gradually gets better throughout the show, and there’s more overarching plots starting season 4 as well. Personally my favorite seasons are 4-7, but it’s hard to pick. I hope you end up reviewing season 2, as it’s a huge improvement from this one!

Season 2 will always have a special place in my heart. So many classic top tier episodes. Just the introduction of Discord puts it in the running for best season.

Nightmare Moon isn’t the true name of the second ruler. It’s actually Luna.

one of the best and worst things about the show is fandom. we are very aggressively passionate about the show, borderline obsessed. there's some genuinely incredible fan stuff and some really cringe and bad stuff which comes with every fandom. but for some reason this community operates on extremes and there's probably vastly more fan content then the show itself. don't be pressured to watch everything that gets recommended. just watch the show and enjoy it at your own pace. most fans just want you to be as passionate and to experience the show as they did but its very overwhelming.

Oh yeah, unicorn magic is interesting. All unicorn can float stuff around and open doors as basic magic, but their cutie-marks determine what their magic is good at. For Rarity it's making outfits, so sewing. Technically her main thing is finding gems. It's a unique spell only she can do. Twilight is special: her cutie mark is 'all magic'. She can study spells and perform them. So she can perform all magic as long as she knows how to do it via study and practice, which is why the first time she teleports is such a big deal.

You should absolutely continue watching. Later seasons expand on the world-building and lore immensely while ramping up the action. Season 2 starts and ends with action-packed two-parters. The season 4 finale feels like Dragon Ball Z with its action.

Season two will be a huge improvement to you. Many fans consider season four the best, and there’s some merit to that. Season three and season nine might be the most controversial, season three because it was short and resources were stripped from it to promote its spin off, and season nine because of some of the creative decisions concerning the shows conclusion.

This was recommended to me, why? Idk But if it's getting recommended then congratulations! As for MLP itself... Season 1 is moreso world building and basic friendship lessons, not to mention the characters Season 2 is where the animation improves and also gets smoother, introduces more villains and the episode quality honestly improves here Season 3 is a turning point, even if short, and from season 4 onwards there are overarching plots, arcs and alot more characters to love

The first time I watch mlp was I watch a single episode and watch a few mlp fan content then years later I watch the first season I was hooked and realized how great the show is.

I like slice of life episodes actually. Where show just show every day pony life and them solving friendship related problems. More so then the episodes where they do epic battles with villains and save the world and such. Anxiety horse learning how to stand up for herself and be more assertive. Without being a jerk. Sports horse learning that its not shameful to enjoy books and "nerdy" stuff just because you are a jock. Fashion horse learning how to get along with her annoying little sister. Farm horse learning thats its okay to set your pride aside and ask for help if you are struggling. Party horse learning BOUNDRIES OF PERSONAL SPACE. One day. Maybe. Book horse learning not to stress out over every minor detail.

About fanmade stuff: after or even better before watching first 2 episodes you should watch : "Lullaby for a princess" and "The Moon Rises" as they add much in terms of lore and story of what happened 1000 y ago :3 Now it's to late so I'd suggest watch them anyway but also try at least one of cooperation animations like "Doors" series

In case you do, I would highly recommend watching these fan projects: Solidarity by Princewhateverer Lullaby for a princess & the moon rises Snowdrop And trust me, this fandom and this MLP generation are a giant rabbit hole that is definitely worth exploring. You will likely find the later seasons even more interesting and I definitely think you should continue with MLP. Edit: Don't question Pinkie Pie! That chaos goddess stayed FiM's biggest mystery 'til the end. Even the characters recognize Pinkie's weirdness and understand that she's a 4th wall breaker.

Welcome to pony show! I promise, this series only ramps up. The first season is all about the characters, but the later seasons delve into topics you're gonna be surprised about. A time or two I had to check if the TV rating changed based on the subject matter of the episode. It's fun

season 1 is pretty slow compared to the rest of the show. seasons 3-5 are my personal favourites but i'm biased because of nostalgia. the show really picks up from here. the songs get better and there's more story. i was 10 when i got hooked after i discovered some fan content back in 2012 when season 3 just ended. i watched the show and grew up through my teens with it along side me with a new season each year. to say this show has left an impression on me is an understatement. this is a great comfort show for me and helped get me through some really bad times and good ones.

The series gets better every season. Season 4 onwards dose get a bigger budget and better.

Though I see some inaccuracy in this video. For instance, Luna (aka Nightmare Moon) wasn't banished, but was cleared, "friended" by the Elements. Almost feels like you didn't pay attention But, eh, as long as you had your fun watching the show it's alright

Season 5. You better get to season 5 because that’s when things get CRAZY. (There are canonical mass destruction/war/dictatorship AU’s revealed in that) And. Uh, NMM kinda did get blasted back into oblivion but the pony that was possessed by her, Luna (the other princess) was left behind in her previous normal form to rule over the moon once again!

I have been a MLP fan since during the 2000s with the MLPG3-series and also a Brony since 2010 with the MLPG4-series. I became so fond and interested in MLP very early as a child watching the old MLP TV series on TV and on VHS. It took me many, many years later until I became a teenager and rediscovered MLP and "was totally saved" by it. My very first pony and my only G1 pony Mommy Sweet Celebrations. She has been with me all the way through my life. Very cute little pony in my opinion and one of my favorite ponies. I love MLP since I was a little kid, and I started to be a fan over the 2000's with the MLP G3. I still love MLP very, very much and I love watching over and over again. MLP really means so much to me and life. I really, really LOVE watching the show MLP:FiM in Norwegian dub and original English. Thumbs up and hooves up from me! I was 23 when the show MLP:FiM started back in 2010, and I have been a fan and Brony a long time before G4. The Brony fandom is NOT dead, but still here today. Today I am very proud and happy to be who I am as an MLP fan and Brony, and MLP is one of my things and one of my interests that have meant a lot to me throughout my whole life. I'm not ashamed of it and I never regret in my life. MLP really warms my heart and gives me a lot of joy and care. I have never been bullied, and never had reactions, and never been laughed at and never attacked by it. The only thing I did was to just shut up about it and keep it to myself the whole time. I've been fine and I'm still fine all the time. I'm just fine and nothing has gone to hell. If I hadn't had that, I don't know where I would be today. The ponies have held me tight the whole time and they have a good heart for me. I have many friends and I make lots of new friends with whom we have common interests including MLP through the internet. And it's just nice and it warms my heart. I really love drawing MLP and also my OC ponies. "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" had a great time and a great decade from 2010-2019. The greatest animated TV show of all time inlc. a movie, two specials, etc. I still LOVE that show and it is nr. 1 on my list. I watch the show in English and Norwegian dub. I watch the show non-stop. When I saw the series "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" for the very first time from the very first episodes and then I decided to shovel away everything I saw over the years and forget them and never look back more or less. In the past there were a lot of shows I watched just for fun and that weren't to my taste when I grew up as a kid watching a lot of Cartoon Network, Fox Kids/Jetix and Disney Channel. Everything has its time, but also to build up my taste for series that I like and interest and am a fan of. I felt like I was praised. I have been praised by Princess Celestia.

I saw this show when I was a kid for the first time on Netflix in 2011, and even then I thought it was just gonna be a dumb girly kiddy show with no interesting storylines or anything, but the more I watched, the more I grew to love the characters. What I personally love about mlp is even though it’s a kids show, it doesn’t talk down to its audience, and it has amazing consistency with its characters and lore, and plus the humor is great. The continuity is truly immaculate, and it’s a treat whenever a certain character can recall experiences from past episodes, it really grounds them in a realistic way- well, as realistic as you can get with a show about magical talking ponies. It gets better and better as the seasons go on, so please do keep watching it, I’m curious to see what you think about the rest of the show. :)

I’m have subscribed!!!! I remember when I watched these all those years ago. If they were everywhere on the Internet and season one had just finished. I have gotten injured was laid up in bed for a while so figured I’d see what all of this was about and I remember when the winter wrapup came, I literally said the words to myself, “ I guess I’m a brony now.” And then when season two came out on episode one my wife said the same thing. I hope you check out season two. It was amazing. The entire fandom was blown away.

MLP YAY!!! I was the target audience when I started watching the show, which was ofc like right around when it first aired on TV haha, but I'm 18 now and still love it so xD There is a LOT world expansion as the seasons go on!! The world of MLP feels very vast and still pretty well fleshed out, I love that about it. Also, the season 2 beginning, The Return of harmony Part 1 & 2, are some of my favorite episodes from the show :)

I think the Cutie Mark Crusaders might end up growing on you, should you keep watching the show. Which I honestly encourage you to do. I saw someone else say in the comments that the slice of life stuff will continue to be present but that the other things will also ramp up, which I couldn't have said much better myself. The first season was a great introduction but the following ones will only get better and better.

This is one of thise shows that definitely gets better as the seasons go on. I hope you give the other seasons a try 😌

Season 1 is where the show was finding its ground and establishing the characters but where I'm guessing most Brony's become fully invested in the show is afterwards since it gets consistently better throughout the entire series. Season 5 and Season 7 are probably my favourite seasons (Season 7 is where the show peaks imo... so many great episodes). There are 10's and 0's in every Season but the one thing MLP always does really well (besides songs) is the villains. The finales, premiers and mid season finales are always insanely good because of how they move the overall plot along, keeping each Season's plot devices distinct and fresh, usually with a villain or conflict which introduces a new major plot device or direction for the story to explore. The bulk of the show also is just generally pretty solid. The characters are great - they all have so much personality! including the non-Main 6 ones. They actually make a point to give each character a distinct personality, even the background ones (entire fan bases and novel length stories have been written about some of the background characters... Anthropology is unironically better than some of the official Movies)- it's got relatable themes and it's really consistent with keeping up the continuity and adding to the lore/world with each episode. There aren't really any episodes that feel like wasted time as each one adds a valuable piece to the show, usually encompassed with some sort of life lesson (they're a lot more subtle/organic about it after like Season 2). I actually can't think of an episode that doesn't improve the lore or characters in some way... maybe yakity sax, the cart before the ponies or 2, 4, 6, Greaaat? I really didn't like those episodes. Anyways, those are the 0's I mentioned and are anomalies. For every bad episode I could name like 10 good episodes. The best way to describe the writing style would be with the song "Putting it together" by Sondheim which Rarity's song "Art of the dress" was based on.

my favorite seasons in general are 5, 6 and 7. I also adore the Equestria Girls, and I love the fan animation Lullaby for a Princess, Fall of Sunset Shimmer, Folly of Celestia, Moon Rises, Snowdrop and Elements of Justice/Turnabout Storm. THe last two is a fusion of MLP with Pheonix Wright Ace Attorney. There are a lot more, but those are my favorite things. Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie are my favorite characters (Luna/Celestia are my next favorites), then Octavia and Muffins (Derpy Hooves). If you are interested, do check into the show and the fan content as even the "worst season" of MLP is still an amazing series. (Out of Nine Seasons, one is bound to be weaker, but even the weakest season is better than a lot of series' best seasons. The fan content is also amazing, especially the ones I listed above. I won't spoil the series but it's worth a watch.

I think you will grow to like the Cutie Mark Crusaders more over time. I can definitely see where you're coming from, as they are pretty annoying in their earliest appearances. Their whole thing is that they're trying to figure out who they are and what their purpose is, so their presence is basically a series-long coming of age story. They start off very immature, but they do gradually start to learn lessons and grow up.
