@@permere If they do ever make a Despicable Me 10, they need to stop throwing in new characters like as if it's a Vivziepop show by then. Like, a bloated cast would work for a sitcom, but, I don't need to see entire movies about a cockroach man and Gru's long lost identical twin. Those should be one off characters that could have a handful of tv episodes dedicated to them.

I had a dream penguinz0 did a review of Despicable Me 4 and it was one of the worst things he'd ever seen. Odd first impression.

I mean, it was amazing to know Vector was able to live to see the Fourth movie, but still, his return never made sense since they never gave a good explanation for his random return!

I’d say losing their audience that likes the girls. As a kids movie I’d say it’s pretty important to have kids in the movie itself. Also, making adult designs for the girls seems like an impossible task, considering how strange and unrealistic the body proportions in DM are. It would be hard to make designs that don’t look weird.

It has absolutely no story, it seems like they were just comic shorts grouped into an hour and a half special; Even though Gru became the first-time father of a baby, the villains have no single motivation and are very forgettable, Lucy and the girls have no reason to be in the movie

The second film was good but it was already showing signs of the episodic format of this franchise. 3 doubled down by having a lot of disconnected subplots, but there was still a main plot and ok pacing.

Yeah, it was abysmal. The problem of unnecessary characters was so clear with the m minions. Literally did nothing towards the story, and when they could've done a semi entertaining team up with gru in the already anticlimactic final battle, they don't. Useless.

Yeah I agree, that was good! Like I said I think the premise of this film was good, and there were a few parts I genuinely thought were decent. It’s just that I overall I thought the movie kinda fumbled the bag.

@@cartershow6349 I found it good because of the way it feels like your going through some of the deep emotions through the film similarly to inside out 2 but not as impactful and while the film goes really fast it still tells you a story and its not really complicated to understand and the fact that they added side stories threw out the film like the mega minions and poppy's storyline but it also is way better than despicable me 3 in my opinion because of the lack of humor and its lack of emotion compared to the past two films did and i also like it because of how its not like alot of Hollywood movies where they try to have some sort of political agend or diversty into there films and lastly it helped me alot with my depression that ive been struggling for years

Honestly i just like watching the minion and despicable me movies since they are just dumb fun. If you go in with the idea of a super good plot then should not watch it. If you go in looking for just a stupid movie that is simple to enjoy then you are going to like it.

I have enjoyed this franchise in the past, but in this one it felt like they were more interested in doing a bunch of minion shorts and threw in a thin storyline for Gru to make it a feature length movie. I didn’t hate it, but I instantly forgot about it. Kids will love though, and I guess thats what matters.

My issue with the Gru is that he’s supposed to be a villain and throughout the movies he does villan stuff but in the end of each movie he’s the hero, villains do not save the day!

As a DM fan and an Illumination fan, I would rewrite the story of Despicable Me 4 and make it only focus on Gru's relationship with his newborn son, Poppy forcing Gru to pull a heist and his whole family getting involved and be on the run from Maxime Le Mal who wants to hunt them down. That's it. The subplot can be about Maxime Le Mal also hatching a villainous plan to dominate the world by turning every human and animal into freaky insect hybrid mutants and making the Earth his bug-infested dystopia, while The AVL gives the family a mission to stop them. And what about the Minions and the Mega Minions? They can also be of some assistance. Also, give Maxime Le Mal more screen time, make him a lot funnier, give him an IQ of 200, and make him the best villain in the movie and the relationship between Gru and Gru Jr. would be very emotional and strongly heartfelt. And also Margo becomes friends with Poppy, while Poppy is struggling because of her toxic relationship with her dad. Her father wants to change her and be happy, while she keeps giving him the brush-off, all because she's fine the way she is, and that too can be emotional and heartfelt. I would've written the film a whole lot better and it would be better if I were the movie's director.

And on the topic of that. You or I should definitely have a spin-off solo prequel film about the gorls/Gru's daughters. As it ofcourse takes place before the Despicable Me films and it can show how Margo, Edith and Agnes became orphans. The plot can show us the girls bonding with their biological mother and can reveal that the girls have different fathers and how their mom has dealt with dishonest men in the past(which explains Margo's distrust towards Gru in DM1) and how their and especially Margo's wish for their mom is just make her happy and proud but ofcourse during this, the girls can probably accidentially due something stupid in the city they live in that causes the civilians to hate them and they become shunned for their actions, leaving them into running into their mom's ex/their stepdad(who would be the villain), he would lie to the girls and ould manipulate them into helping him build a machine to destroy the world, but the whole time the girls can think his invention is for good, only for them to realize during the climax of the film that they have been tricke and when the city hears this, it can cause them to hate the girls even more. But then during the final battle and the end, the city will have respect for the girls and they would finally make their mom proud before a scene would happen in which it would show how she died. (And their biological dad was already dad, but I guess the evil stepdad can probably die to.) Afterwards, it can set up the events for Despicable Me 1 to where they will then get sent to Miss Hattie's orphanage in the end. That's what i'd do.

Sometimes it’s best that some franchises stay at three movies, Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda, and Toy Story.

I feel your pain bud. I have never been a fan of these animated abominations against nature. How and why this series makes money is still a mystery that continues to baffle parents and scientists everywhere. Children find anything funny these days. It’s clear that what annoys us adults, entertains the kids.

I think that this movie was very good. I didn’t really care about the lack of major story because this is literally a children’s movie meant to be funny. I also thought that the villain was pretty funny even though his character felt a bit half-baked

I think children’s movies shouldn’t be reviewed for the sake of that they’re literally made for children. Yes there is adult humor in almost every single children’s movie but that’s only for the adults who are taking their children to see this so they can at least get a little laugh or 2

Please, in comparison Inside Out 2 would be the better big company film to spend your valuable time on. I've become sick to the double death of this franchise's continuation. Frustrating how the girls have not changed appearance wise.

honestly, i thought it was a pretty funny movie, but the plot just seemed pretty odd to me after watching it. and after watching this video, you have some pretty good points.

Why is my screen shaking

Honestly it wasn’t the worst but it definitely felt hollow. The story didn’t feel fleshed out, the girl Gru robs the school with had no reason to be there. The villain wasn’t even villainess and there wasn’t even a big epic fight scene with him. I enjoyed the finale scene with everyone but the song really didn’t fit. It wasn’t like the others where the final musical number was absolutely amazing

You summed it up perfectly. Illumation films arnt awful but they feel like Saturday morning cartoons with high budget animation. I did enjoy the mario bros movie though and look forward to the 2 one :)

I thought it had some good ideas here and there to use but it does nothing to little with it because ITS TOO MANY THINGS. Even when kicking out some characters it still drags adding new ones. None of which are memorable. The only real highlight was the ending to me as it feels like a true closure to this weird movie. There's nothing really worth exploring with Gru far as I see. Only Poppy feels like a fresh do over if they ever desire to touch this franchise again.

One of my biggest complaints at the end of the movie was that the villian was kinda in the background the whole time except for the beginning, and then at the end it took like 5 minutes to beat him. And was it just me or was the “super minions” just look like they were in costumes instead of their DNA changing or whatever they said?

At least the end is epic(i did get brainwashed by skibidi toilet please save me)

The stupid part is the Minions have no right being in this movie. Dru canonically is the boss of the Minions now. Gru is not the boss anymore and the AVL is not a villain organization. And to think. We were rid of those stupid oversized pills, but no. Illumination has to shoehorn a few that just stayed when the minions are a collective that collectively follow what all of them view as their boss.

After watching DM4, I can safely say it’s the first time I ever got out the cinema and was lowkey upset and felt scammed. The only thing I sorta liked about the movie was the minion with heat vision because it reminded me of Homelander (the irony behind a Minionlander is a bit hilarious to me).

I can’t believe the kids fought the death Kwon do guy from regular show

I just got through watching it, Villan was mid but for me, ending makes up for it though. I'd give it a 6.5/10 or a 7/10 first three were way better though.

I watched this in the shittiest, most rundown movie theater in ohio while visiting cousins. About 3/4 into the movie, I got sick and had to sit in the bathroom stall with no cover on the lock-hole and the door hanging inward far enough to give an good 2 1/2 inch window through which any passer-by could view my suffering. I stayed there in discomfort and embarrassment for the rest of the film. All in all, I think the trip to the bathroom was more pleasant than watching the first 3/4's of the movie.

We were supposed to watch Inside Out 2 for the end of the school year but got this movie instead. Almost no one laughed the entire movie and my friend had an expression of agony on her face near the end, begging for it to end. …I really wanted to watch Inside Out 2. We all did.

I always thought one Despicable Me was enough. It really didn't need 3 squeals, a spinoff, and a prequel/spinoff sequel.

Yea honestly didn't really like this one. Gru had a chance to try and be himself but that legit never happens, Lucy had that whole subplot of being a hair dresser (which would've been pretty cool) but even THAT doesn't happen, and even the girls have nothing crazy going on. It just seems like this entire movie was filler. Despicable Me 1 and 2 were amazing in terms of this, but damn this one was kinda bad. You can throw around the argument that this is a kids movie. Sure. Despicable Me 1 was, too.

In fairness, gravity falls actually handled the surprise twin trope well because when you rewatch it everything makes sense.

This gives me JonTron vibes. I like it.

i understand that the movie wasn’t amazing, but i was still able to watch it, yk? also, this movie was created for a child audience… so you kinda have to take that into consideration. but ofc any and all ages can watch!!

I kind of liked it even if the plot didn’t completely make sense

The ending of the movie got me like : 😐 They started singing "Everybody wants to rule the world" and reminds me of those KZread shorts 🗿 The villian and the baby is so annoying that I'm tired everytime they appear on the screen. I'm grossed by the scene where the baby pees... 😨 And why the baby's name is Junior, reminds me alot of Junior from Duolingo 🗿

I was really hoping they would continue the third movie's ending where dru takes off with some of the minions, what happened to that?

I feel like KFP4 and DM4 have the same issue of having so much in the story at once it feels bland and boring. Both companies have seen how much there movies have made so they just think giving a lazy effort in their movies is gonna get them a billion dollars. On the other hand both movies got over half a billion so I guess the norm now it’s to give bad movies for good profit

Now much like this movie, Rocky V focused a lot on the father-son dynamic the only difference is is that they had actual good chemistry because Rocky Jr. was played by Stallone’s actual son

I honestly watch these movies to have some choatic fun, and this (along with the other movies) did not dissapoint.

The cast was good, the animations were high quality, it’s just that the plot and script sucks

I never took these movies seriously, so I actually really enjoyed it. Obviously it had some issues like pacing and too many plot lines, but I still enjoyed it. It's not like it's kung fu panda or HTTYD levels of writing

this movie was and alright but what really made me sad is that the overhyped the mega minions bc I would think they had a bigger part in the movie instead of some seamless subplot

Baby Jack Jack errrr…. I mean Gru was actually probably the best thing about this train wreck. Also, why didn’t the girls age?

I hated the movie for a couple of reasons to name one the advertising It was centered around the mega minions BUT They show up so DAMN little like 5 times max Clear that they made them cause the idea was cool but they went with it without knowing how to use them

i have never been so repulsed by a piece of cinematic media the whole movie is a waste of your time, it fails to follow the classic "comedy and tragedy" formula through a weak villain that the protagonist fears when he's faced ones that possessed the fucking moon and a massive base full of missiles, and like 1 straight hour of bullshit where every joke misses or gets explained when the mom (i can't even care enough to remember her fucking name) was joking about someone's name being blanche, i was hoping we'd actually get a splinter of actual comedy through her already knowing her name was blanche, and she was being sarcastic, but no of course, we can't talk about this "movie" without mentioning the side plots about the minions getting powers and the heist, the "terrifying" 15 year old (in gru's words) uses a scandalous amount of allusion to the Internet being harsh on boomers (which gru isn't, by the way) as a bullshit way of blackmailing gru to steal a pet. why not just go back inside and not risk looking bad in front of the internet??? gru is entirely misrepresented in this movie, and has been since the second movie, honestly. he's not awkward or stupid, he's broody and very intelligent. in this film, he's practically molded by anyone into doing anything, there is hardly any substance to his character and his personality is long dead the kid appeal in this movie is horrible. they somehow made agnes more of a little gint by making her voice actor strain her vocal chords to form an octave that completely ignores the fact that her birthday was two movies ago and she sounds younger than before, and there's constantly shit happening onscreen lastly, the ending is dumb. all the minions coming back to help is dumb. the musical ahh moment at the end is dumb and it ruins a song i liked. they really didn't need to beat up the villain as much as they did, he honestly was almost more bearable to watch than gru (minus his weakness as a villain and his over exaggerated accent) i tried to like this movie, but i was brought with to watch it on my 16th birthday, literally the only part i liked at all was when the goat shat on the floor this film is literally nothing and that's why i don't watch movies anymore, i just play borderlands fuck you gru

The only thing I think is good is at the end it shows all the super villains that where in the past movies

Greatest movie in the last 20 years

the only thing i liked about it is the chase by that girl because it reminded me of "GET OVER HERE FLINT LOCKWOOD"

You should do a review of the Minions movie. Honestly, I personally like it. And even if maybe that's not the most popular opinion, it's still a movie that in my humble opinion I think you should review.
