So I know it sounds farfetched that the dad died in the earthquake, but here me out. This movie was set in California 2004 where Sam is probably around 17 as she's already sent her application to Princeton. Given that she looked around 10 when the earthquake that killed her father happened, I'm going to guess that the movie based the tragedy around the 1994 Northridge earthquake that killed at least 50 people, injured thousands, and caused almost $50b in property damages. Dunno if it's what the writers intended, but the numbers line up pretty well in the timeline.

The joke about their lawn being the best is not that their lawn is fake: it’s that they are the only losers using water in a drought, haha.

What I don't get is why all the follow-on Cinderella Story movies centered on singing? This movie was AMAZING and had no singing, then all the other ones are music movies. 🤦‍♀️

Billy ‘trying’ to not insult people is really relatable. I fight that urge so hard everyday but people sometimes be trifling head asses

One stepsister is Madeline Zima, the girl from "The Nanny" and the weird dude that dances like Neo from Matrix was going to be Howard from "The Big Bang Theory"... the cast for this movie is surprisingly good.

When you said “This fool better not have on this Nike arm band”, and I saw it BARELY in the scene that followed after you said that, and you go “HE DOES!!! OH MY GOSH!!!”, the way you sound SO ANNOYED and IRRITATED over him wearing it and went off on a rant about him wearing the arm band for “12 days consecutively” got me ROLLING! LMAO ROFL! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I heard in an interview ages ago that Hilary was so nervous about the kiss scene that they made her and CMM practice plenty before-hand. As a tween I was shocked to hear that 😂 Such scandal. Hilary Duff ruled the world in the early-mid 00s. We were obsessed. I was 12 when this came out and haven’t seen it since then. 💀 Feeling old 👵🏻

Hilary Duff was one of my role models as a kid and I still love her work today. Seen almost all her movies, bought her perfume, bought her clothing line, seen her Younger show, her Lizzie show and so much more. She’s great!

I saw her at a local grocery store and let me tell you…SHE IS EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON 😩 she was glowing and surprisingly much shorter in person too. She just smiled at me and i didn’t say anything cause she was with her family. The funniest thing is, in the car on our way there …I was repeating the lines from this movie 😂 so it was a coincidence to see her. My mom and I really like her!!

A junior novelization revealed some deleted ideas and concepts from the movie: -Austin was supposed to get up on stage during the pep-rally, only to pretend that the whole thing was a joke he was in on. This probably explains why the faculty never actually punishes Shelby and her friends for the skit, since they probably assumed it was All Part of the Show. It could also explain another reason why Sam was angry at him, and not Shelby, in the locker room scene. -Austin was also supposed to have a snippy line about how Sam could have been a trucker from New Jersey; the writers seemed to realize where Princeton was during production. -Shelby was originally supposed to get her comeuppance during the big football game at the end when she gets knocked into the mud. -The dress Rhonda gives to Sam was originally supposed to be her mother's wedding dress. -Rhonda also did not appear to be a waitress in the original script; one early line said she would be able to take Sam's shift to let her go to the ball because she always watched over her at work. -Fiona was supposed to have a cat. Sam's father died while trying to save it during the earthquake. -It also seems that Fiona was originally intended to be more of an Alpha Bitch grown up, with her referencing multiple dead husbands. Her working name was going to be Nora. -Astrid, in earlier drafts, was said to be friends with Sam and had an unrequited crush on Carter. She was also established as being more attractive than Shelby, she just preferred being an Unkempt Beauty.

So the San Fernando Valley earthquake was an actual earthquake that killed a lot of people so the dad dying in the same earthquake isn't as far-fetched as you would think especially since many people were not expecting it when it happened so people were very unprepared

@@hazelventura I never put two and two together as a kid living in California I knew of earthquakes I knew that there was some places were hit harder than others but I'd had never witnessed one that actually killed someone. The earthquakes I was referring to though is an actual earthquake that struck the San Fernando Valley it is referred to as the Northridge Earthquake and it fits the time line well. It happen in 1994

The belt loop holding was definitely a thing in early 2000s, helps bring attention to the hips and waist which was everything at that time. Between the belly shirts, hip hugging jeans, and blingy or spiked belts. Everything was about showcasing your lower half.
