It's not a delay, but deadzones baked into a game. AC6 especially suffers from it - if the game is on Steam, turn on "Anti-Deadzone" in steampad overlay (or whatever it's called), it helps dramatically

This device fits my needs perfectly, basically for the ergonomics and the full sized joysticks since I mainly play racing games and shooters, plus the 6 inch screen The thing that holds me back is the power/battery ratio, I hope they maintain this shell for future releases with better CPUs and pull the trigger on them

Its such a shame that Ayn fumbled the bag so hard in terms of delays and getting orders out. If this came out around a few months ago it wouldve been such a great competitor! But by now, other handhelds have already found their niche. The Ally seems to be a Windows-based Steam Deck competitor, GPD is committed to the keyboard + gamepad combo, Ayaneo has the overall form/functionality....so what can the Loki really offer now? Its a shame because Ayn's prices are usually the best around and are rather fair. Its just too late now.

  • @ColorblindMonk

I'm surprised they didn't learn their lesson with the Ayn Odin, that having around two dozen SKUs to manufacture and ship at the same time will guarantee delays, and give their customers enough time to second-guess their purchase.

Aya Neo's marketing is strong, but they're in a really bad spot right now with AyaSpace. It's abysmal. You basically have to install a third-party control panel just to get complete Xbox controls. Based on this video alone, Ayn's software is lightyears ahead. I wasn't sure if they could actually deliver, but now that they have, I'd take Ayn over Aya 100%.

@@TakiUdon Battery life doesn't really mean much to me. For me like 95% of the time I'm plugged in or could be plugged in easily if necessary. For me I'm more interested in just cranking the TDP to the most it can and playing anything with minimal tweaking necessary. If I was still traveling a lot maybe the lower TDP performance would be a plus, but as it is, its essentially a non-factor for me at least.

@@TakiUdon Most of the stuff I play is very CPU limited, so it is more the Zen 4 CPU with Higher Clocks, rather than the RDNA3 GPU, that will benefit me. I'm a huge MMO player and most of them don't even max my 4090 on my Desktop because they are too starved for CPU. Same for a lot of emulation, not all I know, but most will be CPU bound. The extra CPU oomph should be at least noticeable in those use cases.

I've finished so many games in that time on my Steam Deck and it's been a great experience. I don't really trust Ayn to be timely in shipping these so I probably would've had to wait a whole year instead of just getting my Steam Deck and enjoying games now. I feel like a lot of what isn't talked about in the gaming handheld community is opportunity cost. I think the Steam Deck design is a bit nicer, and simple is better sometimes. The Asus Rog ally isn't bad at all though. Overall they're both real nice looking handhelds, Not too impressed with the design of the Aya Neo. Fisher Price huh? I'd say the Aya Neo 2 looks a lot more fisher price than the rog ally, google it.

Question is, why is there the same display on a larger device that was meant to be an improvement over past hardware? Seems like a misstep to me. I understand the desire from an ergonomic standpoint, but they definitely could have squeezed a 7 inch in there, just look at the size of those bezels on the Loki. Made worse by the fact that they made the comment about improving everything about the design of the Odin - most consumers have trouble sidegrading for a step up in price, especially when you're dressing it up as an upgrade. Not to mention all of the major competitors to this device (Switch OLED, Steam Deck, ROG Ally) all have 7 inch screens. I'd love to see this compared against the Deck, since a lot of people have said the ergonomics on that device are pretty great - I wonder if the Loki is any better, or more importantly worse, to see if the smaller screen size was truly worth it. Especially since the Loki Max comes in at more than both the Deck and Ally, which are both arguably better devices, either in hardware or user experience, in some cases both. I'd need hands-on before I made a concrete suggestion, but at this rate I see no reason to buy this over the Ally aside from extreme personal preference, as it's a better device in virtually every way for less money. Does everything this does but better and at $75 less (unless you backed the Odin). Not to mention the support/customer service on either the Deck or Ally would be leagues better because they're both backed by massive well-known and reputable companies. Definitely a case of too little too late from my current perspective.

Unfortunately the Odin Pro was not even close to be comfortable in my hands, I sold it just after a week (~4 months waiting). On the other hand (no pun intended), the Steam Deck is easily the most comfortable handheld I have ever experienced, Valve did well! Not interested in Ayn anymore sadly, add to that how late they release their devices from announcements, they've got to change that.
