This device fits my needs perfectly, basically for the ergonomics and the full sized joysticks since I mainly play racing games and shooters, plus the 6 inch screen The thing that holds me back is the power/battery ratio, I hope they maintain this shell for future releases with better CPUs and pull the trigger on them

Thanks so much for this preview. I finally feel a little more comfortable with my choice to preorder the Max. Once I compare it to the gpd win 4, I'll decide whether or not I'll keep it.
I would like to see a proper 6800U vs 7849U head to head in battery at the optimum TDP. i think for most, the sweetspot will be the band where people will stick to for gameplay. the performance to battery ratio will be important then.

Its such a shame that Ayn fumbled the bag so hard in terms of delays and getting orders out. If this came out around a few months ago it wouldve been such a great competitor! But by now, other handhelds have already found their niche. The Ally seems to be a Windows-based Steam Deck competitor, GPD is committed to the keyboard + gamepad combo, Ayaneo has the overall form/functionality....so what can the Loki really offer now? Its a shame because Ayn's prices are usually the best around and are rather fair. Its just too late now.
@ColorblindMonk

I'm surprised they didn't learn their lesson with the Ayn Odin, that having around two dozen SKUs to manufacture and ship at the same time will guarantee delays, and give their customers enough time to second-guess their purchase.

Aya Neo's marketing is strong, but they're in a really bad spot right now with AyaSpace. It's abysmal. You basically have to install a third-party control panel just to get complete Xbox controls. Based on this video alone, Ayn's software is lightyears ahead. I wasn't sure if they could actually deliver, but now that they have, I'd take Ayn over Aya 100%.
Unfortunately, AYN is just too late. With the Ally coming out next week for the same price and better specs, its just not worth getting anymore. I cancelled my Loki Max pre-order a couple weeks after the Ally was announced.

@@TakiUdon Battery life doesn't really mean much to me. For me like 95% of the time I'm plugged in or could be plugged in easily if necessary. Listen man i ll be straight forward.. Can this thing play smoothly ps3 games with more than 40 fps? vulcan or open gl or whatever else.
Ally really killed the max!! I do appreciate the bigger analog sticks..you make it that much bigger , go with a 7" screen!!! Plus it took them a year and a half to get this designed!! Feel bad for the people who pre-ordered!!
Kinda nuts how all these new handhelds are best run at around 15w to be able to get a reasonable balance between power and battery life... seems to me the best spec just now is a better screen.
I suspect they might pull a Loki S model soon they used the 7000 series chip
Question is, why is there the same display on a larger device that was meant to be an improvement over past hardware? Seems like a misstep to me. I understand the desire from an ergonomic standpoint, but they definitely could have squeezed a 7 inch in there, just look at the size of those bezels on the Loki. Made worse by the fact that they made the comment about improving everything about the design of the Odin - most consumers have trouble sidegrading for a step up in price, especially when you're dressing it up as an upgrade. Not to mention all of the major competitors to this device (Switch OLED, Steam Deck, ROG Ally) all have 7 inch screens. I'd love to see this compared against the Deck, since a lot of people have said the ergonomics on that device are pretty great - I wonder if the Loki is any better, or more importantly worse, to see if the smaller screen size was truly worth it. Especially since the Loki Max comes in at more than both the Deck and Ally, which are both arguably better devices, either in hardware or user experience, in some cases both. I'd need hands-on before I made a concrete suggestion, but at this rate I see no reason to buy this over the Ally aside from extreme personal preference, as it's a better device in virtually every way for less money. Does everything this does but better and at $75 less (unless you backed the Odin). Not to mention the support/customer service on either the Deck or Ally would be leagues better because they're both backed by massive well-known and reputable companies. Definitely a case of too little too late from my current perspective.
can it play emulators like citra and dolphin?
Unfortunately the Odin Pro was not even close to be comfortable in my hands, I sold it just after a week (~4 months waiting). On the other hand (no pun intended), the Steam Deck is easily the most comfortable handheld I have ever experienced, Valve did well! Not interested in Ayn anymore sadly, add to that how late they release their devices from announcements, they've got to change that.
