My mom didn't let me watch SpongeBob as a kid. Then when I was 12 it was conveniently on Netflix, so I binge watched it in what was the best time of my life. Unfortunately, my sister caught me and ratted me out. I begged her not to, but then I heard her tell our mom. It's strange though because my mom never talked to me about it. So, the next week i watched it some more but made sure I did it when nobody was around.

As I was one of those kids who watched things only on pbs kids like wild kratz or Arthur (not complaining just making a point), I remember this day like gold. I remember when I found out my friend killed my parents to watch SpongeBob. However he turned back time to undo his mistake when he saw the news article, but something happened so that I still remember that timeline. He doesn’t know I know though, but I know he doesn’t know that I know what he knows. He believes I live in ignorance. Pathetic

Fun fact: The first three seasons are considered the greatest seasons in a cartoon of all time, all because of the creator. He wanted the show to end to work more on his marine studies, but Nickelodeon didn’t want it to end, which is why the show went downhill. Hate Nickelodeon, not the creator.

They waited for him to die Edit: I learned about this when it wasn’t confirmed about if Stephen actually knew about the spin-offs or not. It was only confirmed about 2 years ago when we found out he did. My bad for not being more up to date. BUT the only thing that he knew about was Kamp Koral, not the other ones.

It wasn't, actually. There were loads of good British shows, movies, and documentaries; and many of them were much more intellectual/enjoyable than their infantile North American counterparts. I emerged a knowledgable, intelligent person, unlike many of my peers who were raised on American media. I also read lots of books. Effectively an upbringing before the digital age (despite taking place during it).

I wasn't allowed to watch spongebob growing up, but one day my dad said I could...but he STILL has a grudge against me watching

The "i wasn't able to watch spongebob because my parents thought it was innapropriate" argument is proof that parents simply don't always know whats best for their children. Spongebob is like a comfort show for me, it was such a huge part of my childhood, and i still cherish the memories and stories to this day. Life can be extremely stressful at times, and for me Spongebob has been something that lets me connect to a simpler time in my life, so while everyone else is throwing away their childhoods, im holding onto those memories so i never forget where i came from, and so i won't be "That" parent that stops my child from experiencing something they enjoy because it appears differently to me than it does to them.

I was thinking "It's just a kid show and I watch more watch films for more mature audiences".
