Nah I don’t really like dragon ball as an IP. I have always watched the one piece anime. I’d play Naruto if they came out with a game

I mean this respectfully, but I don't see how people thought that Moria wasn't going to be a top tier deck. I believe it was the highest winning deck in Asia, and it is the definition of a true control deck. 1) We now have access to the trash + a leader ability that can continue to replenish it. 2) We can cheat out a 4 cost while swinging 6k in the early game and the 4c can be a perona which forces a discard so if they counter out that's a 2k and something else out of hand on turn 2? Huge early game advantage while also establishing pieces that we need in the trash. 3) We have a card that can grab all of the trillerbark pieces we might need and put them back into our hand in hogback 4) We have a card that can pop a 2c and we can play it from trash so we only need a playset of that card and a bunch of cost reduction to be highly effective at removing things on the board. 5) We have 8c Moria that allows us to cheat out 2 bodies which just can do all the above + establish a 9k body With those tools we are able to have a wide range of options available every turn which allows to win in card advantage and board advantage depending on what is more valuable that turn. Since we are able to pull the needed tool from the trash, we have massive advantage when it comes to overall consistency. This allows Moria players to perform a lot of 1 for 1s that throughout the game, which results in small advantages that eventually become larger and larger, which makes the deck feel very oppressive when in the hands of a competent player.

@@heartpiratestcg yeah yeah I know, I wasn’t referring to you per se, there were a lot of people I interacted with prior to the results from the first couple regionals when I was between saka and Moria i got responses like “ewww Moria mid,” and I was like is it though? And I feel vindicated via the results :]

gecko is winning by playing cards for free with 8 moria or for cheap and without needing to have them in hand. Turns out playing cards for free/cheap is really powerful *cough* yellow triggers* but I'd still 100% face a moria player any day than kata. Though I am surprised Reiju isn't topping at any of these events. Maybe its the loss of don holding her back.

@@brockfg guess I should have said, wins tournaments. But they lack removal so that is probably why. And yes, black bug and 5 power ranger are removal but that's basically it.

@BillyGiraffe i gotcha. Yea reiju seems to have relatively strong aggro-midrange board control but the game gets away from it when people can lucci two bodies or play 7 cost moms into 10 moms with average trigger luck

I think the only issue with reiju is it has 0 removal that’s viable. If black bug was 3 cost and leader locked it’d be so much bettrr

Anything spicy or the list that everyone is running? I really want the deck to be good, but at this point I am not even sure about 10c Doffy, but trying 8c kid isn't working for me either. Moria is doing his job, if I can get the cards in my graveyard (sometimes saka, law and reiju aren't so nice there), but not enough and the Kata matchup is just awful. Kinda hoping that the OP08 minks support will help (since carrot also has a rest effect) or that someone can come up with a better working list.

Depends on what deck you’re playing. But there’s a lot of answers for it but most aren’t good into any other meta decks

So here’s the thing. Gecko is a midrange deck with all the tools to force matches to be bad. Perona 2k murders Saka early and Gecko is better into Saka late because they have an entire second resource while removing the board as much as any deck. It plays Gecko 8 drop the best and can consistently see it better than any other deck. The kata match-up is dependent on triggers. However, it is overall good because Sabo and Perona. Keep their hand size low, force them to pitch their non counter, taxing their 2ks with leader swings and going wide. The reality is Sabo turns off their Onami trigger, reject and Gedatsu. And staying at high life and they can’t put kikonojo down Gecko is at 4 due to GE Absolom severe hurts their pressure. And there is really nothing they can do if Gecko high rolls. It draws a ton, has 5 life and has the best recursion in the game. So. Plus Japan said it was strong with most wins over Saka. It was bound to be good.

@@richardshiflett5181 that’s debatable. And it’s a balanced card if you think about it. It’s only as good as your trash. So decks that can’t set that up fast and well have bad Moria plays. Meanwhile Kata has 30 triggers into 10 Lin. We are still under branew hounds blaze, Enel gets 4 new busted cards and is best yellow deck in OP-O7 and we still have many more broken things to address like 8c kid, Doffy am so on. So I think it’s fine personally. You can’t ban every card that’s strong. It’s an 8c card. It should be strong.

Archtypes? Do you play this game? Moria is control in the purest sense, it wins by maintaining small advantage every turn. Saka is combo+ control with heavy emphasis on board clearing and uses some aggro pieces like searchers to build early game advantage and gather its combo pieces. Kata is a midrange high tempo deck with a game being built around surviving until the late game win con of multiple 10 moms comes into play. Reiju is an midrange deck leaning a little to aggro side since it likes to go face a lot in the early game with the ability to cheat out a 7c 7k rush on turn 2, but is midrange since it's late game can also be won by relying on the massive hand advantage it has gained throughout the game allowing it to counter aggressively in the early game, then has the wombo combo of 8c Judge into all the power rangers in the late game. Yamato has 4 Viable builds topping at the moment, all of which play and act completely different, and have playstyle represented from Stall in the fortress build to super hyper aggro and everything in between. RP Law is a tool box deck that plays very aggro. We see the full spectrum of playstyles topping and have 8 or 9 decks that have top 16'd very diverse imo.

@@michaelyabut5969 Eh, I guess it depends what definition you think of when thinking of control. When I think of control I typically go off the MTG Wiki as a reference because it seems to be the most inclusive answer: "A control deck is a term for a deck that aims to control the opponent's cards and progression with, ideally, the end result where one has full control of everything that is done during the game. Control decks typically get their edge through card advantage." Where card advantage refers to a combination of cards in hand or cards on board. Moria is the purest form of building the board while removing cards from your opponent, and cards from the hand consistently. He swings 6k with the hope that the opponent gives you a 2k to and cheats out 4c that either add a card to their hand to increase their card advantage, removes a card from the opponents hand to reduce their card advantage or pop a card to reduce the opponents board state. All of this comes together to have a very pure control deck
