Did we see the same fight??? If you break it down, it didn't look like Bene landed or controlled anything from the top. Charles was attempting submissions and landing more. I like Dariush as much as anyone, but you're 100% right. From the top, it seems like he landed more punches on the canvas than he landed on Oliveira. Benny's still a dangerous guy, but he just didn't have anything for Charles.

Maybe but Benny most likely was winning the minutes/seconds in front of the judges. Punches raining down weigh more than anything shooting up. And at least a couple of shots snuck through.

At no point was Oliveira losing in that 4mins 😂

Dariush wasn't really prepared, and that showed, but Charles being able to stop all attacks from all spots is what helped him win this. Charles won because he was more prepared.

Let’s get this right… Charles decided to stay on his back lol. He was never in no danger, he was throwing elbows and attempting submissions from the bottom and then he got up when he decided it wasn’t working then knocked Beneil out lol. Beneil was hardly landing anything when he was on top.

I really hope the UFC recognizes the superstar that Charles has become in America and puts the rematch on in Vegas. It’s really remarkable the personality and charisma he gives off to the American audience while not even speaking the same language. When the personification of violence says that he could feel it in his teeth when Oliveira hit him you know its real fucking power.

So funny to hear Chael talk about his admiration for Charles resilance and ability to come back being down, but trashed Leon and said he got lucky. Hmm

It's Charles story. He's got main character energy. Beaten down and broken then his daughter is born and he revives his career in incredible and violent fashion. And he puts the art into martial arts with how he chains the ranged striking into close range striking into takedowns or back takes. It all flows and is super fun to watch.

Took you too long to publish this piece. Somehow I figured that when it did come out, this segment was going to build up via cut down. Benny was on top, but not sure if was winning anything. Charles pulled him into guard. Benny Couldn’t initiate an effective attack because he was too busy defending from submission threats. And when he did get his ground and pound going, hitting nothing but canvas while getting elbowed and hammer fisted from bottom. And then Charles just stood up when he wanted.

Benny actually got completely outclassed in this fight. Even when he was on top he wasn't connecting with his ground and pound. Charles was doing more damage from bottom. And he was winning most of the grappling exchanges. Charles is insanely skilled. No need to say who was winning on the feet. We all know how that went.

Of course the Canadians loved Oliveira! 21 submissions is an incredible feat, and having him on the card (or the next) garners more excitement and expectation that you'll see another. Charles is both an entertainer and a fighter, in the truest sense of those words.

You can doubt him. Everyone always does. Not completely without reason. Yet, he is the peoples champ for a reason. Because he makes us believe that despite all odds and even with a history of fuckups, we can still grow and achieve great things in life. He is us. The rematch should really be in Brazil. Did you see how he fed off of the audience support? Makes a difference too.

Charles was even dominating from the bottom. He was winning during the whole fight. Period! He is a beast and I hope be beats the bejesus out of the fake champ Islam

the reason people love the “the champion has a name” catchphrase from charles is because it came after losing his belt because of a scale that wasn’t properly calibrated correctly because someone jumped on it and messed it up, then he goes out and finishes gaethje in a round but he still doesn’t get his belt, thats why he said “the champion has a name, and it’s charles oliveira” and the fans finally hearing him say it english made them go nuts

Beneil was doing nothing to Charles on the ground. Charles was very comfortable and at the very second he decided to stand up he did it with 0 difficulty. It was a dominant fight and if can't see it you should rewatch it.

Chael was not wrong, Chalres did not win a round, even the first round got stopped prematurely, Oliveira was losing it before the TKO. Still undefeated and undisputed!
