I believe that Pac genuinely thought Puffy and Biggie knew he was going to get shot that night. He didn't say they set him up, he just felt they knew in advance and didn't warn him. There is no way Pac would release a diss tract that full of anger and not believe Biggie had turned against him.

Who shot ya was released strategically by Sean Combs exactly the way he wanted it. Release it to gain momentum for BIG knowing fans will think its a diss record and create huge buzz, but still being able to fall back on the 'Good Guy' card that it was recorded before Pac got shot. The record makes it seem BIG replies to Pac to keep some credibility to his name, but when it gets real, he can fall back on the 'it was recorded before Pac got shot" Pac now looks like the aggressor in the whole situation. GET IT ?? Sean Combs is around today from snake moves like this. Don't be Blind people.

I think people forget Pac was from New York. He didn't leave New York until he was 14. Then stayed on the East in Baltimore before moving to The Bay Area. He was wearing timbo's and fatigues. The Outlaws all from New Jersey. Dude had a whole song called Old School bigging up all East coast artist he looked up to. His sound changed. His whole album Me against the world sound like an East Coast artist album. He represented the West hard after getting shot then going to jail on a bogus rape case. Rumors of getting violated in prison by New York DJ's like Wendy Williams. His whole entourage was from New York the night he got shot. Dude was understandably bitter. And then media took it...ran with it... and we all fell for it. It sold alot of records and magazines. Everyone got rich and in the meanwhile two young talented brothers with infinite potential lost their lives. It should be a precautionary tale but we still haven't learned. We all need to do better.

@@whywomenhatemyforeskin1412 personally I'd say 2001, cause a lot of records that came out in 2000 were recorded in 99, so it was still the 90s, but with the beginning of the new century (which was also the beginning of a new millennium), all the records that came out after year 2000 were dramatically different in sound, topics and mentality, mainly because of the explosion of R'n'B (which was more commercially oriented than hip-hop) and the fact that hip-hop went full mainstream, with artists popping out of nowhere mainly because they were after the money, effectively straying progressively further and further from what is the true purpose and the true nature of hip-hop. it's not a coincidence that the year 2000 is also the year when trap music was officially born as a genre, which is something that further demonstrates how the whole approach to hip-hop music changed completely - I say music specifically because hip-hop is actually a culture, but by that time all the cultural part had been ripped off and the only thing that was left was the music, and that's because of the music industry who turned it into a business, effectively selling hip-hop music as a disposable product that wasn't meant to last or have a cultural impact, its only purpose was to generate revenue. and that's what ultimately lead it to what we have today, that is, so called artists that basically look all the same that only make music with no actual content, because the music has become an industry and songs are just another product created with the sole purpose of creating a profit. there's no longer a cultural aspect involved, the lyrics have no meaning and no messages, the sound is basically always the same because today that's what sells, and the artists themselves are no longer artists, because there's no longer a concept of art involved since what was born as art has now been turned into nothing but a product meant to be sold. of course there are and have been exceptions, but the number of true artists has progressively decreased, and even the best of today's artists are completely different from the ones who actually built the hip-hop culture, their whole music is way closer to the mainstream sound rather than the sound of true, classic hip-hop. so yeah, if I gotta say one year in particular, I'd say 2001, because that's the year where the whole hip-hop culture was effectively reduced into a mere instrument and exploited by the music industry in order to create nothing but a profit.

Any smoke he had for PAC was after the beef started. Pacs biggest problem wit Big was the same one had wit Stretch. He felt they didn’t do enough for him/hold him down when he went to prison. That’s a fair reason to be mad at somebody you helped early in their career but to implicate them in getting you robbed/shot when you know it’s not true is some bullshit. Suge himself recently said that Big never did shit to PAC for that beef to start, but PAC was his artist so he rode wit him on it. I’m not saying Big didn’t do shit after the fact (Making “Long Kiss Goodnight” after he already was dead was fucked up) but in the beginning he had no reason to do anything to PAC and was a friend.

Pac was also upset that it happened in BIGs city at his studio. And the fact that Big didn’t step in quick enough to have all his people comb the streets to find the shooter further pissed Pac off. I understand where both men were coming from. Pac flew off the handle too quick because Biggie didn’t move exactly like Pac would’ve. Pac takes loyalty to the heart and would’ve pulled up on anybody instantly if he thought they hurt his friends. Biggie certainly would’ve gotten involved but he didn’t know WTF was even happening until Pac was already shot and already on Bigs ass about it publicly
