I WAS SHOCKED! MACTAN NEWTOWN BEACH CHANGES TO RESORT-STYLE BEACH

The very popular Mactan Newtown Beach on Mactan Island has changed dramatically in the last year to a more "resort-style" type of beach. Savoy Hotels apparently operates part of it in conjunction with Megaworld developers. Mactan Newtown is on the east side of Mactan island and is a multi-use development with condos, commercial, retail properties, and the Mactan Newtown Beach. The option for me to enter was 650 pesos which included a list of meals with rice and some meat, If I remember correctly.
You are not allowed to bring in any food or drink with you as in the past when families brought in all of their food and drink.

I stayed at the Savoy and Belmont Hotel last March. They are a sister company and Yes, they will give you a bracelet so you can use the beach for free.

Good video rod. The rice and trash food combo is normal for the Phil. Sad food for a "resort"!

That's a shame they blocked out the Filipinos from using the beach without paying.

I told them I didn't want to eat but that was the only option Brent so I had a burger/salisbury steak and left the rice, took some video and pics and left to meet a friend.

I stayed at the Savoy Hotel in December '22, it's a nice hotel, it was just a little hectic getting checked-in due to a group of airline passengers also checking-in due to a canceled flight and we weren't allowed to use the restaurant because only the airline passengers were allowed to dine, lol.

Even in Argao and Moalboal there's a charge to use the beach. But at those places it's by locals and stays local. I don't like when huge corporations come in and take over a "public area" like this. In the end they're just trying to sell the idea of a private beach in their advertising.
