    @cablecow15 He actually does play them. When he goes on a trip, he'll pick out one and a couple games to go along. Elliot still has all of the original shells from his modded gameboys. After what logan did, those gameboys are done. They'll never work again. Would you rather have working gameboys on a shelf or ones that worked fine but are now dead and in a FUCKING TABLE?

You mentioned that the screens for that child’s game system would be 50GBP and that it would be helpful if they could pay for the parts given your financial situation. I am writing to offer my own to pay for the parts. Please contact me to make arrangements if this is a viable solution.

    Something that a lot of the tech KZreadrs with larger audiences do is they don't publicize their PO box directly, they'll only provide the address after accepting the thing via email. That still doesn't stop misunderstandings from sneaking in from time to time but it seems to significantly cut down on issues like the ones you're facing with folks who don't understand what your channel is about (or what resources you have available). Also, another thing you could do is if folks want to show off their custom mods on your channel but have their device returned, it might make more sense for them to just film it themselves and you edit the footage into a video. It'd be a lot cheaper and WAY less risky for everyone involved.

  • @yeismeload

    Regarding the candy and cereals: Malt-O-Meal is a brand that specializes in making lower-cost knockoffs of name-brand cereals (usually sold in large bags instead of boxes), and Honey Scooters is absolutely their version of Honey Nut Cheerios. Marshmallow Mateys looks like a Lucky Charms clone, as well.

  • @RiderLeangle2
    @RiderLeangle22 жыл бұрын

    Don't feel bad about letting people know the reality of the situation, people do need to know and being up front about that is a good thing. As for the cereal Malt-O-Meal is a brand name that Post uses for "generic" cereals sold at some stores like Walmart, and yes those Honey Scooters are like Honey Nut Cheerios and the Marshmallow Mateys are Lucky Charms, although Honey Nut Cheerios and Lucky Charms are General Mills brands Malt-O-Meal/Post makes their version as well that taste pretty similar to the name brand (Well I guess other name brand). You also might have noticed that brand name Post Shredded Wheat was in that same packaging, this loops back around to how Malt-O-Meal is another label used by the same company

    Yeah, that'd be neat. In the case of the Pokémon cartridge the main tell is that the label doesn't have the holographic foil on it, but there's usually a bunch of other signs even for games which don't have holographic foil labels (such as the case color, the embossed text on the 'lip' of the cartridge, the wrong screws holding it shut, or having an epoxy blob covering the ROM chip inside the cartridge).

    I fixed one of my friends childhood DMG a few years ago. It had also NO display (along with a few other faults). On his unit it was the contras potentiometer that was faulty. It was not just dirty, but the rotating wiper was broken. I replased it with a 50kOhms, although the original is only 30kOhms, but I needed to file down the width of the pot a little bit so it eould fit in the shell. Good luck with Erics! Super kind of you to fix those units for your fans. Don't feel bad for pointing out that you can't fix other peoples stuff.

    I appreciate the sincere way you explained why sending you things unsolicited just won't work. Even on this channel, there are over 100k subscribers, if even 1% of people took advantage of that, you would not only never be able to keep up, and the liability would be very high. It's difficult to have those conversations, especially with younger viewers who may not understand the complexity of the matter or why it's a big deal. I think explaining the cost scenario is important too. Just because you may make money off of videos, does not mean that anyone has the right to abuse that to get something fixed for free. You rightfully make the money you do from your channels/sponsorships and although you are welcome to do things out of the kindness of your own heart, abusing that as a fan is not a good look. This is also a good opportunity for all people watching creators to NOT send anything unsolicited to a PO Box if a creator has one they have made public. Although you may think it's innocent, it can be overwhelming and you will likely not get the response you wanted and your 30 seconds of fame will not be the fame you were looking for. These are people just like us, and although many larger creators have management teams, editors etc. the mass amount of fan packages they could receive would be insane.

    Seriously draw a line on the whole "receive fix send back" thing. People seem to think you're a repair service. I would be highly annoyed. You handled it perfectly and everyone watching really needs to understand that you aren't advertising a service. Simply tinkering and making videos to entertain.

    I have an Ambernic Rg351mp, the little retro emulation handhelds are a lot of fun especially when you can't afford or find all the real hardware to play the games, though in his case it seems like he has a good chunk of the ones he wants (and a Homebrew Modded 3DS can play a pretty good chunk of the 8 and 16 bit home and portable consoles as well as GBA). He might enjoy it quite a bit but I feel like in a collection like his it might struggle to find a place. But yeah, the Retroids and similar devices are pretty neat little things, I play my RG351MP basically anytime I'm away from my PC...
