Everyone involved in Jan6 is being prosecuted, Trump is being prosecuted (and convicted so far), and the majority of Americans do NOT support MAGA views. I’m not sure that it is a majority of them. Realistically, it’s more likely that 5-10% could be tempted to START violence. I spent years in TV production. My two cents for him: Get a bossy producer to control the flow and outcome at these events with a GoPro wide shot. A good producer will shut down hecklers, screen people, schedule interviews, end interviews, and help you get in and out quickly. Explain your video filming policies, broadcast rights, your ethical standards, and address editing/context policy all in a printed hand-out. The producer can use it to brush people off. A producer can be a witness with video to press charges and call the police if it gets out of hand. You shouldn't have to do anything more than interview. Also, If they talk in the background off camera you can film them too in the scene, don't let bullies be anonymous. They can walk away if they don't want to be filmed. No one has a legal right to privacy in public, and having them on camera may keep you safer than requiring witnesses to reconstruct any altercation. Know your legal rights and when a threat requires legal action, look for volunteer attorneys for the arts in your area to advise you. Keep up the excellent journalism Luke!

Your attitude is a major reason why many trump supporters keep getting deeper into their own bubble, because so many of you guys instantly talk down to them without even listening to their viewpoint. I know plenty of people who voted for Trump who were not at all asshole maga types, who are now no longer willing to engage in normal discussions about issues with people with opposing opinions because they constantly get blindly judged and attacked as if they were one of the people raiding the Capitol. I despise Trump but I've been to his rallies just to talk to people, and the strong majority of people there were FAR more moderate and willing to engage in rational discussions than the cherry picked non representative samples you see in videos like this.
