Patrick Lambie suffered a horrific injury in the 2016 Castle Lager Incoming Series between the Springboks and Ireland. In this exclusive feature, Pat chats to Bryan Habana about the incident, the mental health challenges that come with such a blow and how the last eight years have been.
We appreciate Pat's willingness to be vulnerbale and share his story which will inspire many people who watch it. The full 30-minute special will premiere on the Rugby channel on Friday night, as we get ready for the Springboks vs Ireland in Durban.

    He was pushed around alot like Frans Steyn. But he could've been such a great flyhalf he was just before his time we still played the Morne Steyn type flyhalf. I thought he was great at Fullback.

    What a legend. I was 10 years old in 2010 when he scored those 2 tries in the Currie cup final. I grew up watching Lambie and Messi. So privileged. 🙌 My 2 childhood heroes

    This is so sad but the most important part is he is healthy and I wish him the best health possible after all sport is fun but there is more to life than sport and I am glad Patrick is doing well in life

    I can not imagine what it’s like to walk away from your passion and forgive and make the best of the choices available. Damn, all of SA rugby fans was hoping that Lambie would recover. Just to watch him play was inspiring.

    Pat was my hero when I was growing up. I'll never forget his performance in the 2010 Currie Cup final, and seeing him named in the Bok squad for the first time right afterwards. Still heartbreaking to see him talk about it

    Yes but these are never intentional. He had I think 4 concussions previous to that incident. I’m not sure how the processes were back then . And stander has been very open about how he has tried to make it up
