I Was Filled With Emotion! | The Greatest Showman Reaction | THIS IS ME is my favorite song!

Ойын-сауық

The Greatest Showman Reaction is today's video!
Hey everyone! Join me as I watch The Greatest Showman for the first time! I listened to all the songs way before watching this but I am glad I finally am checking it out!
Growing up in the early 1800s, P.T. Barnum displays a natural talent for publicity and promotion, selling lottery tickets by age 12. After trying his hands at various jobs, P.T. turns to show business to indulge his limitless imagination, rising from nothing to create the Barnum & Bailey circus. Featuring catchy musical numbers, exotic performers and daring acrobatic feats, Barnum's mesmerizing spectacle soon takes the world by storm to become the greatest show on Earth.

Hugh Jackman was on a roll with his musical performances. Five years before this, he had Les Miserables as Jean Valjean and still made it work as P.T. Barnum! It’s like there’s a balance between historical fact and musical theater. Kinda like it followed where 1995’s Pocahontas went. It’s not meant to be entirely historically accurate, it’s about the story and singing performances conveyed onscreen. As for Zendaya? That’s amazing she learned about 4-6 weeks worth of balancing and trapeze while knowing how to handle it. I know she can sing, but she handled the trapeze… with ease!

  • @GracemarieJohnson2763

So the story for Keala Settle is even bigger than you described. She actually wanted to shy away from all the lime lite but was known in the industry for getting musicals greenlit. She turned this particular one down a lot because she felt she related to the song too much. She wasn't getting roles because of her body type. She said she'd do the greenlit meeting after being personally asked to and agreed for a bottle of alcohol and that she could stand behind the music stand. When the music started she decided at the last second to come out and sing it. When she reached to Hugh Jackman during the pitch it was because she was unsure and scared and needed to feel grounded (it's also the moment she really let go and opened up). It was apparently that performance that got the movie greenlit and they pretty much offered her whatever she wanted to play the part

This movie is one of my personal favorites because it shows how to embrace who you are as a person. Especially as a person in the LBGT. It might be why I love the songs on this movie. Facts: Branam wasn’t in love with Lind, he was using her to make HIS reputation look good 2. Racism and judging because of looks was very common back then even as of now. 3. Being rich as of now if Charity’s dad was worth a million bucks you might be with 10 times way more as of now. And one question, who nearly cried watching this movie?

The song This Is Me feels like my anthem song to me because growing up I was always bullied just because I had a rare brain disorder and people made fun of me just for something that I had no control over. Just because it is not visible does not mean that it doesn’t exist. I found out that resent years what I have has been being brought to light and people are bringing more awareness to it. May 17th is now the official awareness day and our awareness ribbon is green and blue. So I thought I could try and also try and bring more awareness out there too. To anyone else out there with NF 1 you are not alone.

You mention how good all the transitions were. Did you notice the one at the end with Phillip, when Barnum passes the circus into his care? When he runs towards the ring, his coat still has the tails on it, signifying him as “apprentice”, but when he slides into the ring the tails are gone, marking his rise to Ringmaster.

Definitely one of my all time favorite movie musicals. FYI - this movie is supposed to be based on the real P.T. Barnum who was a con man. This is why they keep referencing things being "fake" because that is what the real P.T. Barnum did. They even have one of the daughters say he should get something real, like a mermaid. This is in reference to the real P.T. combining the skeleton of a monkey and a fish and saying it was a mermaid. There's way more stuff that he did, but you can Google it to get more context. Also, if you're into underrated movie musicals I highly recommend 🌿Reefer Madness🌿. It has Alan Cumming and Kristen Bell. It is my all time favorite movie musical!

Have been very lucky in life. Had a Uncle that ran away from home and join the Cyled Beaddy Circus at 14. He traveled with the circus for a full year until it returned to Baltimore (our home town). Then joined the Navy at 15 and traveled the world for 30+ years. He kept in contact with the people he met in the circus. When I was 9 years old (1960). He walked into my classroom, told the teacher "I'm taking the boy" and took my to where the city of Columbia Maryland is now. The circus was still setting up under the tent at that time. I got to watch the big top get set up using elephants. My uncle seem to know everyone. I got to go back stage and meet the performers. Watch the clowns put on their makeup. Then took my to lunch and came back to have front row seats to watch the show. At 71, it is one of my greatest memories.

Fun Fact: so Rebecca Furguson (actress for Jennie Lind) actually has a good voice and she was originally going to do her own vocals. However, the production had hired some "demo singers". Basically, their job is to sing the song over and over again so the director can find the right feeling that he wants and then the actors would sing based of a recording of their demo singer. This is a fairly common practice with actors who can sing, but don't have a ton of experience with it. When Loren Allred (Singer for Jennie Lind) recorded her portion, it was so perfect that the production team changed her mind.

At 27:39, your thoughts are the same that mine were the first time I watched this (being that Barnum was catching feelings for Ms. Lind and his wife (Charity) saw that. I actually saw a post a while back that goes a little deeper than that. The post talked more about how Charity is taking the words of the song (all this fancy stuff never being enough) and seeing how Barnum has been trying to make his show bigger and bigger and she sees that none of it will ever be enough for him. He'll always be wanting more, not realizing what he already has.

I think it's because of copyright issues that he cut that song out.

I felt absolutelly identified with the song This is me 💙💙. I'm different from some many people and I'm wrong about several things but i'm not ashamed. Judge always for the context of people's character! by how they look inside, not by they look outside or what they do!

I've not watched the movie, but I heard the soundtrack a lot when I was in my junior and senior years of high school. This Is Me, A Million Dreams, and The Greatest Show held quite a big spot in my heart. But, This Is Me hit me harder than those 3, because as a person on the Autism spectrum, I was insecure about who I was. But that song (as well as Show Yourself from Frozen 2) made me embrace who I am.

Loren Allred is the one who sings Never Enough and she never really took the credit for it, but she recently decided it was time to change that and she's on Britain's Got Talent now, I highly recommend you check out her golden buzzer audition, it will make you feel so proud!

They actually played the video and did a whole activity about the song this is me in a class I had during my time at a mental hospital (I was in middle school and they had a in building school for us and had a class about our mental health and stuff.) I loved (and still love) it because I felt so alone and saw myself as broken and useless and the song showed me that I’m not broken I’m just different (I have autism and OCD by the way).

If you haven't seen it yet you need to see the behind the scenes of the green light script read through. The rendition of This is Me is so emotional, and From Now On is incredible. Hugh Jackman had gotten some cancer removed from his nose so his doctor told him not to overexert himself. But he became so moved by the music he ended up belting out the song and bursting his stitches.
