I was excited for this... - BOOX Note Air

Ғылым және технология

The BOOX Note Air is an e-ink device that is primarily meant to be used to read books and make notes on them, but it states it's a tablet and that you can create works of art on it as well. Not sure if it's iPad level, but Sarah decides to take a look to see what you can do with it. Also, she has two cats and a dog, so pardon the shed city.

I kinda agree, but I've noticed LTT has a way of trying to introduce people to products based on what they're already familiar with, and Linus himself has mentioned this before. Even if he has a good idea for a video, he won't make it unless either it's something the general public would recognize, or he has existing videos that would serve as an adequate introduction to the concept. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this logic also affected his choices of items to compare.

@@-kohakuma- Unfortunately this review was oriented around comparing it to an iPad instead of a ReMarkable, which would've been a more appropriate comparison. Yet I feel like this tablet is still trying to do a bit too much, if you know what I mean? Speakers and a web-browser for example. I don't think it even should attempt to implement either, as it's not something that fits with the niche. I for example have a ReMarkable instead of an iPad explicitly because it doesn't have a web-browser and other useless tools. I have a laptop for those tasks... The ReMarkable however can basically just import and export PDFs, it has a file manager, and you can write with a pen on it. It's just a notebook in digital form. And that's exactly all I want it to do.

Yeah, e-ink is not ideal for creative work. I've used it for reading exclusively, and for that I love it above all else. Comics are brilliant as well, as long as they are black and white (which manga is), though I hear the new color e-ink display panels are absolutely fantastic for color comics.

It kind of irks me how they give it crap for being bad for media viewing when that was never a strength nor a sales point of e-ink in the first place. It's designed to be a piece of paper you can scribble on without your notes and drawings being lost or crumpled, and without the need to carry a stack of A4's with you everywhere while possibly doubling as an e-reader. And by the look of things it does that job very well.

I've been using the booxs note air for the last 6 months. This is not a drawing tablet it's exclusively a note-taking and reading tablet and it does those two things better than any other e-tablet. It did take me about a week to get used to the OS, after you go into the settings and enable the Play store it is extremely easy to download any PDFs you need to read, I linked it to my google drive. You can also connect it to your computer using the USB type-c cable so you can use it as a second monitor while you're doing research. The biggest downside is that it's black and white when I'm reading journal articles that contain figures sometimes it's difficult to distinguish the different colors in a graph. I'd recommend this product to students and to avid readers who don't want to be locked down to Amazon's kindle ecosystem. Also if you don't like the stylist that it comes with I personally use the remarkable marker plus stylus.

This "review" was really anything but. Not knowing what the tablet audience is, is either a poor editorial decision or they just did it for the lulz. If you need to take notes for work/school and want to eliminate paper, this is a great alternative. If you need to annotate PDFs regularly, this is a game changer. It does some normal tablet stuff, but that's just bonus features added to the note taking ability. I get it, 99% of people would be disappointed in this if they bought it thinking it was an iPad alternative and this review reflected that. But they made no attempt at honestly describing it in terms of what it was produced for.

Surely this product is shooting to be a really good e-reader that lets you take notes and listen to audiobooks on their great speakers ... just feel like it’s equivalent to reviewing a toaster and saying it sucks because it doesn’t cook roast chicken well. I also don't want a Droid or iDevice since the display is obviously not vision friendly compared to e-ink. Price is expensive af tho, yet I still wouldn't consider any other device if I could justify this one with heavy usage. I don't need a regular tablet, and I also don't need to draw so why bother with anything else. Also people don't understand e-ink even after decades now, it's inherently slow. Not the OS but the rearrangement of literal physical beads of ink in the pixels. I'm glad I watched your review. It made my day happier or lighter somehow. Can't stop smiling watching you. I hope more reviewers are like you especially in this trying times we are in because of the pandemic. Anyway, been considering buying this device but would wait for a 10 inch colored eink device from onyx boox

I have and use the note 2. Tldr is I would probably not use this for start to finish graphic design but is still a great e-reader, notepad and sketch book. P.s. you can get access to the android play store so you can use other apps. I read a lot of books and I've used it's notebook to take notes that got me through a few certs now. I've also started using it to diagram house projects. All notepads can be backed up to services like One Note as well as their first party cloud service. The tip is pressure sensitive so you can draw thick or thin lines just based on how hard you press. It takes a bit of time to get used to. There are also different refresh modes that can lower video quality to increase the refresh but this tablet isn't meant for video. There is also a manual screen refresh button in the quick menu if you get any ghosting. I think what I like the most is the battery life. If you turn off WiFi and bluetooth when not in use and turnoff the backlight during the day, the battery can really last you weeks or even over a month. There are some things that the iPad does better but that thing is overkill in price and performance for just books and note taking imo.

I study mathematics, do you think I can move from using normal paper notebooks to using only the Note air boox?

Sarah needs to host more videos. She may be a bit nervous on camera, but she has an easygoing and relaxed vibe that fits well here and would be great doing other hosting spots too.

Sarah with the crew injecting and having some banter honestly makes this a lot better then it would be if it was just the host. I know the chatting slows production but the more interruptions than normal in this video, really helped make it.

I ... she was entertaining but I personally feel like she didnt quite get the product or what it was trying to do ... as such I personally didnt feel like this was a quality first look ... more of an entertainment piece if Im honest. So in that sense, yes, please more Sara, but please with something that more of lies within her domain like idk ... some wacom tablet or someting.
