I was blown away! Toy Hunting at Toy Federation's Retro Toy Con 2023
🚀 Join Pixel Dan on an epic journey through time and plastic at the Toy Federation's Retro Toy Con 2023! 🚀
In this nostalgia-packed episode, we're diving headfirst into a toy treasure trove, hunting for the legendary Masters of the Universe and the awe-inspiring G.I. Joe Ninja Force and Mega Marines lines. Whether you're a die-hard collector or a casual fan looking to relive your childhood memories, you won't want to miss a second of this adventure!
🔥 Masters of the Universe (MOTU) 🔥
Launched in the early '80s by Mattel, Masters of the Universe became an iconic franchise, blending sci-fi with sword and sorcery. It introduced us to He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, and his battle against the sinister Skeletor on the planet Eternia. With its colorful cast of characters, intricate lore, and innovative action figures featuring unique mechanics and accessories, MOTU set the standard for fantasy toy lines. From Castle Grayskull to the elusive Eternian creatures, we'll hunt for these timeless treasures, sharing facts, history, and personal stories along the way.
🐍 G.I. Joe Ninja Force & Mega Marines 🐍
The early '90s saw the G.I. Joe line expanding into specialized teams, among them the Ninja Force and Mega Marines, adding new layers of excitement and collectibility.
Ninja Force introduced martial arts experts into the G.I. Joe universe, bringing a fresh, dynamic angle to the storytelling. Featuring characters like Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and new faces such as Jinx and Nunchuk, Ninja Force figures were known for their unique "real ninja moves" action features, which added a new level of playability.
Mega Marines plunged G.I. Joe into a sci-fi storyline, battling against the monstrous forces of Cobra's Mega Monsters. These figures stood out with their "moldable bio-armor," a special play feature allowing kids to customize their figures with a provided compound. Characters like Clutch, Gung-Ho, and Blast-Off not only had to fight Cobra but also protect Earth from these new extraterrestrial threats.
🎉 At Retro Toy Con 2023, we're on a mission to find these iconic pieces of toy history. From rare figures to complete sets and everything in between, we'll explore the vast aisles, digging through bins, and chatting with fellow collectors and dealers. Expect tips on collecting, insights into the toy industry, and maybe even a surprise guest or two!
But that's not all! We'll also take a look at:
Exclusive convention finds and limited editions
Interviews with fellow collectors sharing their stories and treasures
A behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of toy collecting and convention culture
📌 Don't forget to engage with us in the comments! Have you ever owned any of these iconic toys? What's your holy grail of toy collecting? Share your thoughts and stories with the Pixel Dan community.

The GI Joe Mega Monsters shout out! I had seen those two monsters loose in another one of your videos a while back. They were among other assorted toys and I thought they were so cool. Hard as I tried, I couldn’t find what they were called. This video finally revealed what they were and now I’ve turned my focus to hunting them down! Thank you for your videos!

That Toxic Crusader chopper was amazing. I loved that line so much, so much like the vintage TMNT toys, and right up my ally. The colors and everything on those were great, and the chopper is a vehicle I've always been tempted to hunt down. Also, that blanket story reminds me of a Madballs one I had. I don't know how powerful the nostalgia would hit if I saw it again. Also, A MOON KNIGHT SHELF! So happy to see another Moon Knight fan. I have a shelf for him also! 😅

Pixel Dan, you have no idea what you bring to the lives of so many fans who truly enjoy what you do. You bring such immense love and joy to each episode that the mass number of your followers really do appreciate the intense devotion in putting such masterpieces each week. Your shows make us grown folk feel like kids again, and in a society filled with so much hate and animosity, your channel brings us back to those childhood memories. And for that, I thank you! P.S. I am SO honored to have helped ease your Toxic Crusader collection. Wrapping your gift was an overkill, and I do apologize for it. However, seeing you open the package with such great curiosity and while I'm observing your facial expression wondering what's inside, reminds me of that childhood feeling, and THAT is what you do to us viewers. Thank you from the bottom of this veteran's heart. You rock!!! 🤘🏻

Love that giant Mosquitor! One of my favorites as well. So glad he did him like the vintage with the bulk(I know the slim 02 look is more accurate for a mosquito but doesn’t look as cool) And I have both mega monsters! Always loved the tentacle one. Toxic crusaders was a great line. I still have my complete set of figs. I only got the badguy motorcycle, never the coptor so that was an awesome gift to see you get! Very touching
