Couldn't agree more. Shane stands tall with all the great Irish poets. A great songwriter and lyricist. Despite were he was born, conceived in Ireland, Shane always considered himself to be Irish. Goodnight and god bless, Shane. Sleep well.

Lots of thoughts to Shane´s lovely wife, Victoria. I learned so much listening to a few sentences from her. Such a wise person.

He was one of the greatest Poet and composer of Our Time. I cant realize He is gone

I was born on Christmas day . I was so poor . I was lucky to get one present. I will be 66 this year 2023 . I just got back from holiday in Havana and am going back again soon . I have a woman there . Now I count everyday of my life . I'm so lucky . Drinking and drugs will kill a person . 100% RIP Shane. Safe trip man .

Get a grip

A prime example of never judge a book by it's cover! Shane was a wordsmith and I'm just listening to some of his great songs for the first time. His lyrics tell the story of the Irish abroad, from London and Liverpool to New York and Boston and elsewhere. The second generation also and their experiences. Fair play to you Shane. can you say names who judged him, it seems people make stuff up. never heard anyone saying bad stuff. sure everbody knew he was a drunk, but nobody judged. not back then, maybe now in the youtube era, could be. now everything is being judged. what a waste of time is it now, but back then no not really.

My Sister and myself saw him in New York 1986, my sister and Mum both passed away this summer 6 weeks apart, this year has been terrible, so many have gone, they were gentler times, and people were more Honest, they are in a better place for sure,

Look up The Pogues Special by Antoine de caunes, he speaks really quick en lively there, quick with his answers too. Just before his speech got messed up and he started mumbling.

So sad, a very talented man,at least he had a wife that loved him .I never knew him but he always fascinated me ,how he kept going ,had to be magic.

"Cause it's not annoyingly happy", Shane was the master of writing, essentially adding a touch of light to a very dark world we live in, sad songs written and played in an upbeat way.

It's my fav Christmas song I never get sick of Listoning to it brilliance

Always bothers me that people interviewing were condescending and didn't listen to his beautiful, often witty, words. He was aware of it, and his own deteriorating health, but too polite to say.

Shane was and always my favourite person i say person as at times he looke so sad or exposed om this vid. Addiction is a disease, he wss fed alcohol since age 5 ( not judging his parents) I am a suffering Alcoholic and im proud because because despite 3 treatment centers not acxepting my ptsd diagnoses i will not give up

Shane had the patience of a saint in this interview. Really innane and a bit condescending questions from people who didnt seem to know much about the music. They could have asked more interesting questions. Even so Shane answered graciously.

Shane was so talented RIP

Best singer and songwriter of all times. I wouldn't be doing music if it wasn't for Shane.

Oh, I never felt that what you saw was what you got with this amazing guy. Shane McGowan seemed so multilayered to me that it would take interviews with all who knew him to paint a picture of what he truly was. And even then, I don't know how deep you would get.

I like the way he put Jesus before himself when asked about his birthday on Christmas Day

Imagine having this unique opportunity to interview such an incredible human, and all the interviewer does is ask the most banal questions
