If you're worried about crossing a fast moving body of water take a long stick strong enough to lean on put it down river as you work across.

I was honestly worried about the deep water and waders… but knew you’d made it since we’re seeing this video. So much can go wrong out there.

You have influenced me so much to get into rock hounding the last couple of years and i would like to thank you because I love every minute of it!

I know and share your joy of rock hounding . I really enjoy your videos!! Please hear me when I say when you are out in the wild, and that’s where you were in this video. One little slip can be the end of your life as you know it. Please please don’t wade in to deep water. Go back the way that you know. We all love going on these adventures with you, just be safe. Your family really loves and needs you. I am a big fan of your rock cutting videos! I know you don’t know me but this video was so scary to me. The river is no joke. With much kindness I send this.🌻

Now listen here, son. I'm old enough to be your great grandmother and I must admonish you. I couldnt see if you belted your bib-waders around your waist since I don't believe there was a full shot of you. But you must be sure to tightly wear a waist belt outside your waders in case you fall in. Otherwise they will instantly fill with water rendering you unable to maneuver at all and you can guess the rest....not good.

I do not wear a waist belt and know the situation wasn’t safe, I mentioned how bad it could have been. Won’t be doing that again.

That view with all those birch trees was so beautiful! ok now I'm going to yell at you and a flick between the eyes 😂 what were you thinking? lol glad you made it out! That water line agate the color was very cool with that peachy color up top.

You should get a chest pack to balance out the weight. This looks like a spot you can keep coming back to year after year.

I have one but when I fell I had it and one on back. It was a realization that you can drown. I enjoy the videos but this was scary.

The big one and small one are both 100% mary ellen jasper, I find ones similar to the small one that you found relatively often, killer finds man!

Wonderful video and super nice rocks! My wife Marilyn(Sonshine Legacy) watches your channel often and also loves rock hounding. We love the North Shore and are hoping to get up there for a couple days next week. I agree though be careful! I never walk into a moving river. I'm sure your experienced and know what your doing, just stay safe. Also you passed up some great birch bark! I really like birch bark as its my favorite tinder for firestarting. Beautiful rocks you found! I bet that pack was heavy. Great channel and videos.🙂

Great hunt, you gotta be careful in those rivers. Unseen deep spots are killers, your waders no matter how tight will fill up and weigh you down. 🍻 Awesome finds!

i agree. I fell last year in my waders. I was fortunate that I wasn’t in deep. With my rocks and water in one leg, I was glad to be ok.

4:32 I can totally be wrong because I am new-ish to this but I understand it to be that that can be a hunk of petrified sap. I believe I saw where a fellow who does geology said so but I'd have to search for the reference and I doubt you care thattt much. Great finds today! Blessings!!

Taylor, you have indeed been redeemed! That huge Jasper reminds of a massive petrified wood about that size or larger that I once found about a mile up a mountain creek and had to pack back. No way I was going home without it even though walking in the creek itself was the path.

Me at the beach every day

Hi, I’m in Michigan and I found a huge boulder on my land. I’m a rock hound and I polish, cut slabs and make jewelry. I posted pics on rock identification groups with no answer, lots of guesses. I’d love to send you the pictures. I guess I need to be a member.

Are you planning to cut and/or polish today’s finds? I’d be interested to see what that huge chunk of jasper looks like inside, but that might be more than your saw can chew through! I can’t wait to see what you do with the agates!

I really appreciate the info bits you share as you come across these nature wonders.

I just started watching this so I will comment again, but in 2004-5 I found a piece like that out in Split Rock. It was IDENTICAL to that, even in size, and I have thought many times that I've never seen a piece with that kind of sheen to it, until you showed that. Also I am really rooting for you here, because after the beginning of September it became very hard to find an agate. Particularly for us who just prefer creek hunting to any other way....... without a pit that is.

At 4:55 min, the rock you found appears to be an agate. It’s very similar to agates we find along the pacific coast, north of Santa Barbara. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Scoopy wouldn’t have been able to help with that huge Jasp-Agate you found at the beginning. Thanks for sharing, great video!

Epic find! That huge one looks like may be a sort of jaspagate? I'm not sure. River crossing is always an adventure lol

You should agate hunt with me on Lake Michigan. I might like to send you some of my Lake Michigan finds.

There was a huge galaxy stone right next to the big porphy on the ground, would have bin a beautiful cut with all its baby agates

I been trying find a good hunting location for agates...my thoughts were like rivers with lots of rocks like where no ones been picking but its probabaly a crap shoot. Wish there was a way to get into the gravel pits cause I know they are in there.

Agate Dad please make sure that your viewers know about water safety. Your waders are great but how about a life preserver put on when you're crossing? Being a rock hound myself i have found myself in sketchy situations where i wondered how i was going to get back accross the river. When your on the hunt at times all good sense can go out the window. Please take my advice with love and caring for which it was meant. Awsome video take care
