I can't blame Lex for wanting it all in this context. His mother showed him love AND loss, and nobody would be able to accept that all at once. So he wanted to escape the suffering. Anybody would want to. Very few accept it, and that's why most people would be villains in real life.

@@billnumber3324 Dude. This is Lex Luthor, if he plans to burn Kent with something then he'll do it. This is the same guy whom in the comics and adaptations, humiliated a waitress for kicks, stole 40 cakes from a bake sale, pushed a cop into an oncoming train and sent a jar of piss to a senator. So needless to say, either whatever dirt he had on Jonathan wasn't enough or the writers were too lazy to bring it up. It's not the point that Lex pursues power and money at all costs. That's been in his nature since before he and Clark became friends. The point was that despite being smart, rich and powerful enough to buy the entire country, he couldn't best a simple farm man in an election that would have been childs play to him. This wasn't the beginning of Lex. This was the beginning of Lex's most fatal of flaws. An inferiority complex.

There’s a little bit of a sense and or feeling in a way that the election 🗳️ had been “RIGGED” and “STOLEN” away from Luthor himself there now going in favor of Jonathan Kent with Lex’s father playing a role in that flipping the script in betrayal of his very own son there big time indeed now no doubt about that there. LEX SHOULD HAVE WON!!! 😡🔥
