One of the best ways to lose belly fat has been said to be low intensity cardio. So I did a lot in the form of walking and light jogging for a total of over 140000 steps in only 7 days. And it WORKED!

I’ve been walking 3 hours per day plus all my other actives for a few years now. Which amounts to 19k steps to 30k steps a day. It definitely keeps the weight down and allows me to eat a good amount of food. It’s great getting outside / nature / fresh air etc. I never run my steps just walk them. They mount up quite nicely I do the same walk most days usually so I’m just on auto pilot. So I never get fatigued anymore. It’s not a chore for me. Well done for attempting it. You made it look quite difficult though. Shows how accustomed I am to my daily habits. Please continue to do your weekly challenges. The blind fold one and blender one were my favs.

Good timing - I am just starting to go for 10.000 steps daily since June 1st. :) 20.000 is a real challenge though! I definitely think you are right about taking advantage of the morning. When you work in an office 8 hours a day, I will be lucky to take 1.000 steps during the day. (at least I have the option to stand - I try to go for 2-4 hours a day, but it is mostly around the 2 hour mark for right now.) But walking for 15 minutes before the walk to the bus would not add that much extra time - but you could gain a good amount of extra steps. Also, going for a walk after work, before you go home. (so you are not tempted to just sit down and not move until you go to sleep) What is most difficult is actually to find interesting places to walk, especially in the city. I try to take a specific walk around the blocks, but it gets boring pretty quick.

It is very daunting sometimes I learned early on how many I needed by a certain time of the day ! And on days I have plans at night I have to really focus on getting em done before ! I’m usually at like 14,000 ish by about 1 PM ! I always try to have 5,000 steps before I go on a 4 mile speed walk it takes me 56 mins to walk 4 miles so that gets me to about 12,000 ! Then I like you plan a afternoon walk with someone who hat will go lol ! Thanks for sharing your videos I really enjoy them ! I am almost 58 years old and love to make challenges for myself too !

I worked in the receiving area at Lowes for a few months and I was just CONSTANTLY walking. I would end my day with between 18,000 - 24,000 steps. It was EXHAUSTING. Also related to the calves, I did marching band all throughout high school, and everyone's calves would literally double in size throughout each season. All the walking around, but especially because our marching style required us to be on the balls of our feet while marching backwards. It would make a lot of sense to me that this challenge made your calves grow

I started looking through years of my Fitbit data at the beginning of last year and realized that every time I'd been in peak condition, I was also walking at least 10k steps a day. I decided to do 14k a day, since that would be about 100k per week (nice round number). The weight just melted off over the course of the year... Like 35 pounds just from the extra walking. It took a couple of months for me to physically adjust though. First, it was just foot and knee pain for weeks, then the muscles in my legs would get super tight, so I had to start regularly stretching and massaging them. A massive fix was that I stopped walking in socks or sandals at home. Now, whenever I'm at home and about to walk a lot, I throw on a pair of super cheap Chinese sneakers that I got off of Amazon for indoor use. That cleared the pain issue up pretty quickly. The other adjustments that I made were to immediately do 2k steps when waking up in the morning (takes like 20 minutes), and at least 500 steps per hour (if I miss an hour, then its an extra 1k on the next hour). Just that little routine immediately gets me over 10k/day without even thinking about it. The other thing is that if I'm at home, most of the things that I used to sit and do, now I do while walking (like read news, watch a video, take a call, etc). The steps stack up pretty fast now, and I barely notice it, because its a habit and I generally pair them with something else.

Kept increasing this to 10km per day on weekdays and longer 15km to 21km distances on weekend days. Power walking as a minimum but would include running also. Didn't miss a day for 2.5 years. Hey that was a great video! I just wanted to say that in my opinion when you were talking about how running impairs your jumping ability you got the point (specificity principle) but for the wrong reason. It's not that your body adapts to being a runner and so is no longer good at jumping. The main thing is, I think, that you perform slow steady state running which develops the muscle endurance. In order to jump higher you need muscle explosiveness (or power, or rate of force development) that is better trained while doing short maxim intensity sprints. So I think the conflict is not running vs jumping but rather explosive stimulus vs endurance stimulus (if you think about it jumpers and runners do pretty much the same thing while one more vertically and other more orizontally: triple extension of hip, knee and ankle)

My average steps are just over 10,000 so far this year. Last year, my average daily steps were 4,385 which was so shocking to me I made it my resolution to hit at least a 7k daily average by the end of the year. Adding additional walks to my day, breaking up work and giving me something to do directly after work, has been so enjoyable that I’ve been able to sustain that 10k not only without as much effort as I assumed but in a way that actually makes me feel so much better through an average week. I love being outside but didn’t really bother walking through a day unless I was specifically going on a hike. Getting outside time during work especially has been so good for me. I tend to get depressed in the winter and apparently average 2,000-3,000 steps in the last quarter of the year so I’m interested in seeing if the mood improvements I’ve seen so far will benefit me at that time of year too.

That's around 1000 calorie burn, and this makes either eating to lose weight, or to maintain my weight very easy, and I'm not hungry. Walking like this is a Appetite suppressant. Also, after you do this for a few months, you actually start to gain energy from it. I've lost 175 pounds, and I've reached my weight goal at the end of march. It's been 2 months, and I haven't gained the weight back, and I've been eating pretty much whatever I want, while still tracking my calories, and walking everyday. I walk over 100,000 steps every week. If your trying to lose weight, it's much better to get your calorie deficit from cardio, like walking, which is easy on the body, than starving your body. Find out what your BMR is, and add 100 calories to it, and make that your diet calories to shoot for. If you walk 5 miles a day, and burn 1000 calories a day, it allows you to not have to be perfect, not be hungry, and still lose weight. I get on my treadmill, and listen to audio books. The time just flies by, and I'm done before I know it. I'm not a active guy, and would much rather be sitting in front of my computer relaxing all day. So I always force myself to get on the treadmill, and I will argue with myself that this is far enough right now, and to stop and go back to relaxing, but I'll usually somehow push myself to keep going. I always feel better that I did what I set out to do, and didn't quit. I have a bad left foot, so it's mostly the reason I want to quit, and why I don't walk much faster than 2.5mph. All this walking though, has strengthen my left foot a bit, and in the last month, it's been much easier to walk 5 miles. If I can keep this up, maybe in 6 months, my left foot won't hurt me anymore. :) I won't allow myself to listen to my book unless I'm on the treadmill. So I always try to listen to really good books, that will make me want to walk, so I can hear more of the story. :) I use it as motivation. I'll also use snacks, or food as motivation as well. I'll push harder, to burn more calories, so I can eat a bit more of something that day. The more you walk, the easier it becomes for you to do it, the easier it is to control your weight in the future. I use to have to ration my energy, and now I have so much energy, I don't feel like I need to ration it anymore. These gains didn't happen over night though, but I've only started walking 5 miles day for the last 2 or so months now, and this is when I noticed my energy grow so much, but I've been walking everyday for the last 18 months, but only around 2 or 3 miles, and only on the flat ground, and not at a 10% incline. You burn much more calories walking in a incline, than walking on the flat ground in the same amount of time, and distance. You could easily eat at your BMR + 100 calories, and walk 30 mins at a 10%+ incline everyday, and lose 1 pound a week. 30 mins isn't too much to pay for your health, and a diet your not hungry on, is a diet you can run a marathon on.

I averaged up to 11000 last week! I want to make it 15000 this week! I was so frustrated that I am on same weight last 6 months though I am working out every day for 1 hour or more!! Though I wear watch my steps daily are just 3k 😂(I have a desk job and I don’t make food or I order everything online.) So I just sat back contemplating about the routine during the times when I was the leanest and at my perfect shape! I used to walk some 15000 daily ( as part of commuting to work for 3km to and fro! Also I always took steps in office. My desk was in 5th floor and cafeteria was in UG!! so I did those steps for 5 times to and fro! and danced for one hour almost daily!! When I started wfh, that’s when I piled up weight! 20kg in six months! I don’t know how but got into a state of believing that strength training is only good for weight loss blah blah.. I am really thankful for the posture, shape and confidence strength workouts gave me in last 6 months!! But no movement in scale So I started walking 10k steps per day and dance 3 times a week and strength 3 times a day.. One kilo down in one week! I hope I will get lean soon!! I wrote this long message to let someone know, when in doubt just start with walking!!.. it is a solution for weightloss, mental health and also lean stomach!! ❤❤❤

I have a dog that I walk four times a day for about 20 minutes. I also live in Chicago and can walk to all of my grocery stores or public transport, so I hardly drive anywhere. I do work out for 30-40 mins at least 5 days a week, and sometimes that helps rack up some steps. My social life has me walking around to different places in Chicago as well. All of that averages out to about 16,500 steps a day in the summer, but it drops off drastically in the winter.

my normal walk last winter about 25k to 35k steps, with about 8kg backpack on snowy trails or just snow when the trail hadn't been used a lot. I did it every saturday morning because didn't have time during the week and I gotta say it made my calves and traps noticeably bigger (carrying a backpack for 4 to 5 hours straight while walking on difficult terrain is really effective). Now that snow is gone I haven't been going on walks as much though, mainly because 1) it's hotter so backpack makes my back sweat a lot which is not comfortable, and 2) I rather do other sports like cycling and disc golf when weather is this nice.

Walking early in the morning before breakfast kicks up your metabolism, get up early and move. 1 week challenge of workout in the morning and work in the evenings :)

For me, I’ve never lost weight as fast as this in my life, last summer I got my first ever 6 pack after years of training haha. Also found it was a lot harder to gain weight when trying to bulk up for sports.

Good job man! I'm 140kg and doing 10k - 20k a day for a week now. My advice is, alternate where you walk. Such as doing bear foot to give your feet a breather. Standing desk is good, but get a soft matt under your BARE feet while you do it. :) Space it out over the day. I tend to start the day with a big walk and finish with a big walk. Don't look at your phone etc in the morning. Just get up and go!! I find it's the best for clearing my head.

Yeah, because of my old job I ended up walking up to almost 40,000 steps a day, a good chunk of those steps were going up and down stairwells too. It was crazy because before I had that job I was almost 300 lbs and then one day I check the scale and I'm a couple pounds away from no longer being obese. I didn't even know I was getting that many steps in, it wasn't until I used some app on my phone to check that I realized I was getting that much. Anyways, these days I work from home but I have a sit stand and spend most of the working day just walking on a walking treadmill that I place under my desk, I highly recommend this.
