I love this. I'm a long haul trucker and I make a point of getting out of the truck almost every day and going for a brisk walk. I've been trucking almost 14 years and I still haven't gotten fat.

Making small decisions every day to get more steps has not only become a fun game i play it's changed my life. Lifting and walking man, everyone should! When i first started wanting to walk more, i couldn't go half a mile without my legs burning, now i easily walk several miles throughout the day and it's absolutely been game changing

Keeping it simple (just put one foot in front of the other) to get started is the best advice. Headed at the hotel door at 5:05 am. gonna walk until 6:05 am, Day 1. Thanks, Mark.

Not wanting to do 50 mi in a day (unless it is literally bug out on foot time), but walking is important to me, always has been. One thing that I learned some time ago and it has really helped me. Anything other than water is NOT hydration. It seems that if there is flavorings of any sort in water that our bodies treat it as a liquid "food" and thus uses very little to rehydrate the body and will sweat, pee, or poop to get it out. Not that the other drinks that have electrolytes and or carbs are not important, they are. But I never try to use them to rehydrate the body. And I have learned to do a detox tea twice a week to get toxins out of my body. That helps me to absorb more nutrients and keeps toxins from blocking my nutrient intake and or my immune system. I am 68 and did not live right for much of my life. My biggest downfall was the california culture I had gotten into as a kid and did not officialy stop until two days after 9/11. So, clean and sober. Eat as clean as possible. Beat stage 4 leukemia and did it by way of herbal remedies, eating kosher, a fully balanced diet, vitamin therapy/electrolyte therapy, and prayer/meditation (it is important for me to have that connection with my higher power as well as myself) and all of this with no chemo or radiation. Took a couple of years but hey, here I am and to think the docs told me I had 6 mos to live. I think I am doing pretty good for a ghost, eh?

Awesome!!! So question is: if you could have changes 20 years ago, would you have changed? Would you now tell the youth to chase health over trophies? Health / wellness is a huge priority in life. Sad that people do all the others things like sports, career, college before they invest in their own health. Too many multi millionaire lawyers, doctors and investment bankers at 40% body fat or fatty liver disease from drinking. Too many chase the money in spite of their health. Too many heavy weight bodybuilders and powerlifters willing to destroy health for a plastic trophy. Then later in life they change. If only the change could have happened sooner. Lastly, to every one, please make spouse, kids, family and friends a major priority as well. Divorce rates continue to climb, loyalty and commitment at a all time low in the world.

I walked 10 miles from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. from the apt by Loehmans Plaza to Mel's Diner on J st. Ate a veggie omelet then walked back to my apt where my girlfriend was still asleep. I walked into our room dropped my drawers and rubbed my sweatty balls on her nose. She wasn't really turned on by that... Not amused either.
