I Vlogged Every Day for a Year, Here's What I Learned

In January 2023, I had no idea what the year had in store for me. I decided to do a daily vlog because I felt like I didn't do enough the year before.
I ended up capturing the most transformative year I have ever had. Seeing myself as I really am, let me understand myself better and make the changes I needed to make to have a better life.
I hope my experience can help you too.

This is motivating me to do this for myself! I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, especially since I have bad depression and anxiety and I think it would be very beneficial. Also, this video deserves sm love! The amount of editing you had to go through is absolutely insane!

Amazing! I can only recommend it! It really helped to have to edit the videos every week and be forced to watch myself talk about everything that happened. And so beneficial to notice how quickly things had already gotten better in just the span of one week. I wish you the best of luck, and I'd love to hear how it goes :)

crikey. That was something. Your potrait of how depressive cycles can come was incredibly raw and , i think, atleast for myself was the first time i saw another person describe what i also can expereince so articulatley. I love how you showed that, at the same time that these parts of you exsist, just literally days away is creativity and reflection, that shows what a more holistic picture of the person can be. I think it was super brave of you to make a video like this, I was already sold on your work, but I literally cannot remember a creator who wants to talk about mental health, that was so honest in saying........ im there, and im not there, and showed that you can kinda be all things at once. I dunno if that makes sense, its hard for me to explain. Since so few people will lay their cards on the table like that, myself includng, im constantly filtering myself, I can only take my hat off to you.

Thank you! It's for the reasons you described, that I wanted to make this video. I think I could have easily left out the worst depressive episode, but then it wouldn't have been true to what I went through last year. I feel that if I want to make videos on mental health in the future, I need to be open with where I'm coming from. I do have to admit though, even I filtered myself a little in this video. There were some things I wasn't comfortable with talking about (yet) and I think it would have been over an hour long if I went into everything I went through last year! I just really hope that people can get something out of my experience, so that they don't have to go through the same things I did.

Ooof. I felt you so much in this video. I've been that person. I'm still an asshole to myself more than I should be, though I think I am now the most compassionate toward myself that I've ever been, and that's a great space to be in. Life is hard and it's full of so much joy and so much pain and those things will always be present, it's how we interact with them, and how we treat ourselves, that influences how quickly we can move past the bad and back to the good. Thank you for your brutal, raw truth in this video. It's so powerful to see and hear, and I know that a lot of people will be impacted by it. You ARE funny and cute and wise and reflective and intelligent and deep and full of soul. I'm glad you're able to be kinder to yourself now and I hope this year gives you all the things you're looking for.

Exactly! It's the worst when the person that is being the worst to you is yourself. You can't escape that. I'm happy to hear that you're more compassionate towards yourself now, it's not an easy task to be in that headspace! It definitely helps when you have an ally in your head when going up against this brutal world. Thank you for those kind words :) I really do hope I can take these lessons on to this year and make it great.
