The rotary attachment is great for long pieces but you must first build a jig to stop it slipping on the rollers as it tips either end. I used mdf and 3dprinted rollers with bearings and it works great now.

Would like to see a demo of a hi res photo bordered with a highly detailed filigree. I think you will find that the filigree is not as sharp as the middle portion of the workspace.

You forget that the rotating piece can make you engrave onto cylinders objects like pens or bottle it’s also very unique

Personally I could use a mobile engraver like that, but it would be more interesting to see tank wheels on a gantry machine.

I would love to see some more practical engraving examples ... YETI mug, glass, black granite tiles

Great Test. But the dot size can be affected by the direction of the wood structure (because if hard and soft area) you could rotate the test piece by a quarter turn and laser and measure again or just use other material then wood which is more even

@@luke_fabis OK, just thought of one solution,,, pressure sensors on 4 corner points. Pressure comes off using freehand style, the laser shuts off.

@@TheeRocker The solution is a sturdy light-sealed enclosure with safety interlocks and an e-stop in accordance with ANSI or ISO standards, along with proper operator training and an EH&S officer that gives a shit about workplace safety.

I am just getting into Pneumatic gun engraving but my by-hand drawing skills aren't very good. I am thinking one could paint the gun surface and use this laser engraver to put your art work on the painted surface so you can trace with pneumatic engraver tool. And if you don't like the way your artwork looks you can just remove the paint and start over without scaring the metal surface. What are your thoughts on this??

Does this work on Aluminum and or polymer plastic?

I like the build quality and amazing attention to detail on the whole LP product range, except the L2 rollers, because gnarling is traditionally used to improving finger grip on rotary knobs, it doesn't really grip things only resting on it. It also tends to lose grip easily unlike rubberised or silicon rollers. They may look aesthetically pleasing, but in my book functionality and practicality ranks much higher.

I might not have had the settings dialed in but this probably wouldn't be the best bet, especially due to the size of the machine. I would go with Ortur or Atomstack for that.

I haven't see the laser attachment specific to Maslow but with most CNC's they use something like Jtech as an add on. The higher wattage add ons get pretty pricey and a nearly the same price as a dedicated machine from Atomstack/xTool. They are great though at the lower wattages if you wanted to start playing around with laser engraving, especially if you are caring/cutting the piece as well on the CNC.

It will only work with coated metal like stainless steel or powder coated. For real metal engraving you'll need to step up to a true fiber laser.

There has been an announcement of a Laserpecker 3, which they're saying will be designed to work with metal, which *sounds* like perhaps a fiber laser, but if it is, its likely to be a lot more expensive than the LP1 or 2.

Nice device. How does the beam remain focused when scanned from the vertical? The focal distance will change from the center (vertical) to the outer limits of the scan, so is this corrected for inside the scan head?

It doesn't do any sort of correction. As you get further from the center and the focus changes, it does fade. Engraving wood, slate tiles, or plastic hasn't been a problem at all, but when I do a 100x100mm porcelain tile using the Norton White Tile method, when it hits about 80 mm it starts to fade. For most things, you can just run an extra pass or two, but with NWT, extra passes actually lighten the image.

Start with a cheap chinese unit like arturo...

Regarding resolution, it offers 1k, 1.3k and 2k pixels per 100mm. So it's 10px/mm, 13px/mm and 20px/mm. Or 254dpi, 330dpi and 508dpi.

The laser spot size is 0.05mm, compared to the L1's (0.3mm) and L1 Pro's (0.15mm).

Looks really unsafe and really toxic. I like! ❤️

How does it perform on hardwood materials just purchased one and the end result is very patchy on some reclaimed oak flooring

Oak is pretty porous so the issue might be more with the wood vs the machine. You'll need something that is tight grain to get a good consistent result. With testing I usually wind up using MDF or cardboard to get the best image results.

You will want to use a basswood. Or closed grain. Oak and mahogany are not laser friendly.

If there's a flat or nearly flat area on the controller, maybe? Curves, or compound curves are going to be an issue, but that's going to the the case with any laser engraver really.

wow - i wish i could afford it. i'm sure atomstack and ortur will no doubt release something similar in the future.

how about engraving on the glass and ceramic - wine bottle , glass mug or perfume bottle ?

I'd rather suggest the orthur gantry style as it has a larger work area, uses wayyy better software, and anything you learn translates 1:1 to a bigger machine. The pecker is nifty, but it's really more of a gimmick :/

Laser pecker first gen isn't bad I love it I'm actually interested in getting this just because the first one was such a good starter's guide to it. that's what I would recommend.

hmmm, I dont see agate stone, such as carnelian being something that this machine can engrave. Can someone verify if this can engrave agate stones/crystals/gemstones, such as carnelian?

Do not buy this machine !!!! PLEASE go to their Instagram and Facebook page and read their reviews. MANY people including myself have not received their lasers !! Please ! This company do not respond to messages , packages are going to the wrong address, and laser app has issues .

On the website, the 2nd version is able to cut, and I watched another KZread video demonsrating cutting wood. This is the statement from the website: "Thanks to the 5W semiconductor laser with the upgraded version of compressed spot technology You can have a higher standard and more powerful laser cutting with LaserPecker 2. Wood, paper, acrylic, leather goods with a thickness under 5mm." The website also provided images as well,

Wow expensive. Seems like this also cries out for a vacuum table to suck down the card stock. I take it the base can be removed and it screwed to your own base that might be a vacuum table.

I giggle every time I hear the name. lmao. It's pretty neat though!
