It also really doesn't help that the difference between Naruto's mid-high compared to the high power scale is bonkers. Goes from Jiraiya who can carve a mountain all the way to people who can split the moon in half and have extremely haxed jutsu *(cough Kamui cough)*

Yeah, a lot of people don’t realize, but when Jiraiya hypnotized Roshi, this didn’t at all stop or even slow down the momentum Roshi had gotten when he was rushing at Jiraiya.

Based on the animation, I’m pretty sure what people expected was Roshi trip and fall over from not moving consciously anymore like many do in Naruto. Unfortunately… Roshi wasn’t running. He was like, flying through the air. Inertia is a thing, and… if you’re not using your legs, you aren’t tripping nor slowing down.

7:20 That’s “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F” where Freeza comes back to life to get his revenge on Goku. It came out in 2015 as a movie & later got adapted into an arc in Dragon Ball Super.

Thunder Shock Surprise held up Multi-Planet busting, strongest in the universe fighters... in fact he knocked out 5 fighters multiple times stronger than himself through strategy, even someone with similar powers to Jiraiya in trapping and illusions. If you ever start watching real Dragonball clips, check out the Universe survival tournament from Super out, great animation and fights.

In case you're still confused on how Jiraiya died, Roshi went in for the finishing blow, but Jiraya set off his "toad soul-trap frog thingy." Unfortunately, while Roshi's soul was trapped, his body was still flying forward without Jiraya noticing and it split him in half.

I'd say Roshi had Jiraiya far outclassed physically but IF he could be caught in Jiraiya's genjutsu then yeah he'd be done... I mean not when he's already in motion at his top speed.

What happened is that Roshi was still in motion when he got caught in the illusion so he was still gonna hit

And with that we now have official confirmation that turtles are superior to toads. TURTLE POWER! This is definitely one of those fights that is pretty universally considered to be a one sided stomp. I mean, at Jiraiya’s most powerful he can destroy a mountain. At Roshi’s *least* powerful he destroyed the moon. Dragon Ball speed scaling was already pretty ludicrous in the earliest days (frankly moreso than destructive power at the time, though power caught up!). Add to that how Roshi is also a very crafty fighter used to figuring out tricky opponents who use hax that his more powerful but simpler minded students can struggle with and… yeah. There’s not a lot Jiraiya can do other than go for the mind trapping genjutsu straight out of the gate in hopes of getting Roshi off guard. Favorite line is when Roshi picks up gamabunta (the giant toad): “Get! Off! My lawn!” Amazing grandpa energy, perfect. But up next… Oh hohohooooo boy. Another of my top 5 favorites. You may know of Thanos (you do not know him, you know OF him, the MCU has nothing alike to comics Thanos), but by the end you will know Darkseid. Who is Darkseid? Darkseid IS. That is all.

THANOS vs DARKSEID death battle is going to show you why The comics and the movies are COMPLETELY different, because when the battle was first announce, everybody and I mean EVERYBODY was saying Thanos is going to win with ease, like he’s going to basically snap his fingers and it will be done,but when people actually started to watch it,and they saw how TRULY O.P. DARKSEID actually is most of the people was like🤯🤔, and if I’m being honest here I feel like this video made so many people realize that DC and Marvel are RIDICULOUS when it comes to making a character’s power.

If the videos are still up then perhaps you should see the character intro videos that tease the Death Battle contestants? There are some minor differences at times but at the end Whiz and Boomstick always has something to say at the end.

'Why is she packing heat!?' That's Launch, she was a major secondary character in Dragonball, like Yamcha and Tien, the thing is, Launch never really appeared outside the original Dragonball, but when she's on screen, she's a certified badass. She was left out of Dragonball Z because, if I understand it correctly... Toriyama forgot she existed?

Turtle and Toad is one of my favourite themes from Death Battle, (apart from Wings of Iron and Thunder Shroud) and this fight is just plain good anyway. Thanos Vs Darksied is next i think? That's a good one

While I definitely agree with the results, I absolutely would be rooting for Jiraiya anyways, he is such a great character and one of my favorite characters of all time for sure.

About the Toad: since in Japan animals were viewd as mystical creatures, or yokai in disguise, they used that in Naruto. The Animals can use Ninja techniques too. Though they dont specify, when an animal is just an animal and when it is a summoning animal. Last kind is stronger and can talk.

I like to think Toriyama saw DBZ Abridged and added the Paradise Herb as a Kid-Friendly Weed reference. Most authors like to see fan art and abridged fan stories. It's the producers and copyright lawyers who take down fun. I dono Toriyama's stance on parody but I like to think he added the herb as a nod to TFS

Anyone else noting Duckgoesmoo is using slightly more editing in each video? I think that's kinda neat.

If you asked about the bells than it a test if the students could work as a team or not. If they pass than they move from academy students to genin and get to be a part of a ninja team. If they fail then Narutos teacher, Kakashi, would fail prevent them from ever advancing because they’d put themselves over the team or mission.

yeah, again, don't worry about not knowing about these kinds of things. Death Battle is one of those channels that does give a lot of information, but most people who watch these episodes have SEEN the movies or shows the characters who are fighting are from.

Why tf would anyone their right minds ever think naruto characters can beat dbz characters? The constany comparisons between and 2 shows being so common are utter bullocks. The power scaling between the 2 shows are lights years apart. A dbz charcater can almost simply sneeze too hard and annihilate almost anyone is naruto

I feel like they made weird choices in presentation, cause the Frog Song is probably the strongest Genjutsu in naruto except the Sharingan ones and if Jiraya catches roshi in it it is a sure kill, other than that, yeah in terms of physical feats Dragonball simply scales differently to naruto.

yeah the old dude with the hair is Roshi. When Goku was 12. He and Krillian entered the world martial arts tournament after being trained by him. Roshi feared if Goku won. He'd stop his training because he accomplished everything. So Roshi entered the tournament with a wig, new clothes, no sunglasses and called himself Jackie Chun (yes a nod to the actor). Roshi beat Goku in the finals which did cause Goku to want to further training to be able to win in the next tournament (3 years time). no one guessed Chun was Roshi. Well one guy figured it out at next tournament

I think this was left out of the playlist because of region issues, like Carnage vs Lucy. Also, the real winner of this Death Battle is physics.

Kyle, a few precautions before you watch the next fight. one: ignore the MCU movies, they will take Thanos from the comics, where he started, of course. and Thanos in the comics is entirely different from his movies counterpart, and also WAY stronger. two: as you have not heard of Darkseid, his entire section will have your eyes popping out and mouth hanging open over how insanely powerful he is. he too, will have his feats from the comics, since that's where he started. 3: pay close attention to what they're saying. not saying that you don't, but just as a friendly reminder, because this will be very important for the next fight. :)

Watch "Superman the Animated Series," followed by "Justice League" and "Justice League Unlimited," and you'll find out who Darkseid is.

Roshi would CRUSH Jiraiya. He wouldn't have a chance. Roshi might be one of the weakest characters in DBZ, but he's as strong or stronger than the very strongest characters in Naruto. In terms of sheer destructive power (i.e. the ability to blow up the moon) he's almost unmatched right up until Naruto gets up to its end game (and the strongest attack we see in Naruto doesn't actually destroy the moon, it just damaged it). It's also worth noting that although he can catch machine gun fire if he feels like it, we also see him actually being hit by bullets several times and it doesn't really hurt him that much. Whereas Jiraiya is vulnerable to conventional weapons like kunai if he doesn't take precautions against them. So in terms of physical resilience, Roshi's far above him also. The strongest human is actually Tien (unless you include Android 17 and 18 as humans, in which case they're beyond Tien by several orders of magnitude), although...it's debatable. Krillin does a lot more actual fighting than Tien does, so it's possible that Krillin is actually stronger than him by the end of the show.

By simply allowing his martial arts instincts to take over? He was able to dodge the onslaught of Jiren, the same warrior that kept up with Goku's brief period of full Ultra Instinct. edit: shit. death battle beat me to it.

the flaw with the frog chant is it only trapped the soul and didnt stop the body and roshi is talented enough to body lock to brace for impact. Jiraiya had a decent plan but forgot about inertia/momentum.

yeah~ you have only seen Roshi as a side character who rarely did anything, which is sad cause in Dragon Ball (prequel series to DBZ): he was a pretty strong guy, able to take blows from King Piccolo, Tien and Goku (even though he was a kid, he was still possibly the strongest characters in the series even back then). and yeah, a lot of the moves he knew from either he's own training or from he's master kind of get left in the dust except for the Kamehameha but thankfully Super not only brought back some OP moves, they also brought back OG Roshi, who was actually really powerful among characters who were close to Gods of Destruction.

Yeah I don't buy that. I won't deny that Roshi is really strong but if he really was strong enough to fight in the ToP why couldn't he have stopped the sayians, Frieza, the androids, Cell and Buu? Krillin was regarded as the strongest human not Roshi. Super doesn't make any sense. It just flatout ignores power levels completely.

Naruto characters are rarely about mountain smashing though. Decent tactics and mind manipulation have always been proven to get the better of the Z warriors. The genjutsu would have worked as soon as it landed, Jiraiya doesn't get trapped in the genjutsu with his victim, that would be absolutely pointless. DB were lazy with this one.

Krillin is kinda a hard one to pick as the strongest human but he is close at LEAST. Yamcha and Roshi can ballpark him. And I think Tien is stronger than each of them but I’m not sure if he qualifies. From what I’ve seen Krillin is currently as strong as Goku’s original super saiyan. Tien can take blows from Buu (not remain conscious but the fact he can survive is a serious thing.) If we’re talking anime, I seriously don’t thing there are stronger characters than DBZ. At least not that I’ve seen.

Jiraiya the Gallant wins for me You gotta watch naruto on your own or something. The only anime ill watch besides dbz but i think naruto might be better (esp the music)

Unfortunately, the characters from Naruto and the characters from DBZ are simply on two different levels of power. I love both series, and I'd still put money on DBZ's victory almost every time regardless of opponent. They just can't really compete with planet busters.
