    I worked around Arad in the early 1980's as a field geologist. Great town then, spectacular desert terrain. I was a road cyclist then, though. Thanks for the video and the memories.

    So much fun to ride with you Brian! This is one of my all time favorite rides so happy we got to go on the adventure together and even practice our yiddish a bit! We were shlemiels for not walking on the soft salt area to get into the Dead Sea :)

    Some serious exposure on that trail, & great scenery. Excellent edit. Used to work as a dive guide in Jordan in the late 90s, brought back some good memories.

    That desert is so different from the deserts in the US. US deserts have lots of plant life and lots of wildlife, the Negev desert looks like it's almost devoid of any life.

    Don't worry. We have lots of different desert biomes in Israel, but this area - the Dead Sea - is like the moon.

    Actually the deserts in israel are quite rich with wildlife. But sadly, as man builds more, wildlife fades. Until around 15 years ago israel still had leopards... Imagine what would happen by the end of the century when there will be 40 million israelis and palestinians living on a land the size of new jersey

    Funny he mentioned teslas.. In fact here in israel, EV's, as long as they are not considered luxury, has only 25% percent tax. Model 3's here cost 52k$... it's when you opt for buying a model S that you get to feel the burden. A baseline model S would cost 200k$. A 250k$ ferrari would cost you here closer to 600k$.

    The benfit of navigation in the desert is that you can really see the topography and it matches the map - trees obstruct the view and make it more difficult actually. Also we took Brian to trails we already know so not much navigation was involved :)

    Right as you mentioned gloves I was thinking 'no way without gloves' (and a long sleeve with collar for my bacon Irish skin UA sell a very good hot weather long sleeve). To me it looks like cali after a bit of global warming.

    Thats the driest part of israel. The northern half is quite fertile and rainy with average rainfall on par with what london gets. Further north in the golan height get's even more rain... around 45-50 inches

    Hey somebody stole my bike from my house when I out getting my CDL school. But what don't make sense they didn't take Twenty eight hundred dollars Is bike with a 1× No they took this one sixteen hundred dollar bike with 3× but It wouldn't be me without putting some quality stuff on that Fox34 Fox floating the on rear. We'll say that this is messed up and don't leave your bike around too Long for anyone to steal. The bike they didn't Steal Is the Canondale no they stole my Kona precept. One twenty slightly modified Two a on forty. And torch wheel. Still Miss this bike. You're safe and always good.

    Dehydrated bike riders😅 They got some grazing areas in the valleys and higher near Arad. Quite arid, not exactly the Scottish highland, but enough for them to graze apparently

    That's pretty normal for the middle east in general, most of the western and southern Arabian peninsula is also covered in bare mountains like that

    That's the southern half of israel. The northern part is quite green. It rains there more than it rains in london.
