I've had my Decked System for about 6 months on my Ram 1500 and love it. The extra storage, coupled with the ability to keep it secured and dry when it rains is amazing. Well worth it.

I think they have cargo glides, so you don’t have to sacrifice much bed height but you still get that sliding option. I’ve never tried one but they seem pretty cool!

Thank you for a thoughtful video update on your Decked system and how it’s been working for you! I’m so glad to hear of someone who cut the ammo can in order to access their onboard power! I have a 2021 F150 with the 6.5 ft bed that I’m looking to add the Decked system to. I appreciate your comments regarding the overall ease of customization, particularly because I too was wondering if there was an easy way to mod it for access to my outlet. Losing the lower truck bed tie downs isn’t a problem for me because I have retractable bull rings on the bed rails and could add them to my track system as well. I’ve been wavering on the bed depth issue, but there’s currently a bed cover on my truck which tends to limit bed height anyways. That, combined with my storage bins of off road recovery equipment and day to day items for work has left me with minimal available bed space anyways. So the way I see it- being able to store everything in the Decked system is actually giving space back to me while also making it 10x easier to access necessary items. I hate getting in and out of the bed all the time lol! You’re definitely right about actually increasing your “floor” space by installing a Decked system and eliminating the intruding wheel wells. Thanks again for your informative vid 😊

I'm an F-150 driver, but I have a Decked setup in my truck's bed and I love it. As you stated, it can be setup to accommodate quite a bit, but the best thing is that you can arrange it to what you need when you need it. I'm keeping mine!!

Thanks for the very thorough review of the Decked system. I ordered one right after I ordered my 2021 Toyota Tacoma access cab, long bed last June. The Decked system arrived the next day, the Toyota Tacoma four months later, so I installed the drawer system temporarily in my 1998 Tacoma with a 6' bed. This may be different with the 5' bed, but the instructions are very emphatic about not installing it alone - you are supposed to drill some holes where it is impossible for one person to add the bolts for the hold-down brackets. So I did it my way, anchoring it to the tie-downs with very heavy-duty zip ties. That worked fine, so that is how I installed it in the new Tacoma when it arrived in October. I am still very impressed by virtually everything about the drawer system, but I am afraid I am going to have to sell it. I don't really have room to store it and I have a brand new Kimbo camper due to arrive in a couple of months. I had intended to do some truck camping with a new Leer canopy I bought for the truck, but even though it was a high canopy, the Decked system reduced the available space by a foot, making it a bit claustrophobic. The downside of the Decked system for me has been that I am an aging farm boy, and a pickup is very much a utility vehicle. The Decked system makes it a very poor vehicle for hauling fire wood or gravel or some building materials. The Kimbo will presumably be far easier to remove from the truck than the Decked system. I feel like almost a traitor to Decked because they did everything so very well that I don't want to say anything against them or their product. It is all just a bit above first class.

I’ve had and use a decked system in my 2015 f150 for several years , I have highway products gull wing toolbox installed on top of the decked drawers next to the cab and added rails around the remainder of the bed that are the same height as the gullwing toolbox lids when closed . This allows me to carry full sheets of plywood, allows my dog a rail to lean against when riding in the back while out berry picking or off the main road , and a place too secure any load I need to get from a to b . This system works for me 😎

Secure all cargo properly and 6" bed depth doesn't matter as much for most loads. Commercial trucks haul all kinds of things on flatbed trailers. One could also use sideracks and a headache rack to add height to the bed.

I have the decked system in my Tacoma Off Road. I didn't like things sliding around on the top of the decked. So I repurposed the Tacoma bed mat. Turn the mat around (back to front). I used an angle grinder with a metal cutting blade to trim it to length for the Decked and around the ammo can lids.

I've had my Decked drawers for a short bed F-150 for a year now. If you're researching this product, you'll know whether or not it is right for you and your use case. If you think you want it, just get it. I don't know how I would like it for a mid-size truck with the narrow drawer and with it taking up most of the height of the bed. I can say that for a full size truck it is perfect for my needs. I have tons of tools and equipment stored in my drawers perfectly organized to my liking. I also have a rack for ladders and other long items that don't fit into a 5.5-ft bed, and I can strap down short ladders and other items to the top of the Decked for transport to jobs as needed. I have also shown details of a locking modification on my channel.

As a contractor, those bed systems are really a pain in the ass. Turns out the item you need is the most difficult to get to, so when I downsized, I just went with the Backflip hard cover. Yes, It also is a pain in the ass having to constantly flip it open and closed while working but when it is closed it complements the Army Green Taco perfectly. This little guy is my $38K daily driver. Turns heads everywhere I go. Probably the best thing about the 5ft bed, it's really not big enough to haul around a lot of stuff - which is fine by me. I get the camping and off roading, but I always laughed at the contractor with the big ass 4x4 who needed a step ladder to fetch a screwdriver. I had a big ass Nissan NV Cargo Van for that, now I'm in the Ray Bans driving that bad ass green truck - and loving every minute of it!

Thank you again for making new content. The detailed video of the components, how the unit is packaged and shipped is very enlightening. Being made of plastic, the bulkiness is rather noticeable and necessary to provide the specific weight and durability...But, the cost appears to be not being able to take advantage of the full bed...I wonder what a bed system would look like when made from aircraft aluminum and stainless steel? I would be interested in a 1/3 or 1/2 bed sized storage system. I hope the Decked people take your customization to access the power outlet to heart and make a knock-out..Keep up the good work!

One thing I really don’t hear much about: 1. if you use your truck to transport trash to the local dump, you will need to figure out a way to place a liner on top of the deck. 2. It isn’t fully sealed to the truck bed so stuff will fall into the sides and get stuck between the deck and the truck bed. This includes leaves and anything else that drops into the bed. Over time, you WILL have to dismantle the deck in order to remove trash buildup. 3. It isn’t humidity proof. Leaving power and hand tools in the drawers in high humidity areas or our when it rains WILL cause rust and/or corrosion (in coastal environments) to your equipment. I would not keep tools in there for extended periods of time. 4. The raised deck covers your existing lower cargo tie-downs, so you will have to rely on the upper ones. 5. The raised deck brings your rear window MUCH closer to things you place on top of the deck. Be careful and ensure things don’t move around because they could make contact with and potentially break the rear window. 6. You can place motorcycles on top of the deck. Your biggest problem is getting them up and down from there. Getting them into a regular bed is tricky enough, but adding more height makes it considerably more challenging. 7. Anything that is heavy (I.e. generators, bicycles, etc.) that you intend on placing on top of the deck will be more challenging to lift onto and off of the deck given the added height. 8. The deck doesn’t/can’t pull out completely. Smaller things that move to the front of the drawers (towards the truck cab) will be out of reach. You have to prevent stuff from moving or you will have to figure creative ways to retrieve them. 9. The drawers cannot be pulled out/removed without removing the bottom wheels. This is good and bad. It’s good because they aren’t going anywhere. It’s bad because you can’t get access all the way to the front of the drawers. 10. If you like to transport your dogs in the bed of the truck, your safety margin is significantly less. No more high truck bed. Just some stuff to think about. Still, it’s a fantastic product.

I semi regularly carry a full bed of camping/overlanding/skating/bodyboarding stuff. I’ve opted for a bed cap as that can even be used to get changed at the beach… a drawer system like that would take away too much space for me, these kind of mid-size trucks have small beds to start with.

Removing the decked system would be a pain in the ass when you need room for a fridge or something… a tri fold hard bed cover seems to be the way to go for ppl using the full truck bed.

I was on the fence about getting one due to the loss of bed height, but I don't really use my truck to haul heavy loads in (short bed, 2nd Gen). What I do haul constantly is all of my field gear, which gets stuck in the back seat and passenger seat when I go off to drill. I would much rather have the drawer system to put that crap into so I can have my interior back.

I love my decked system so far. I will say this though mine arrived super super late and absolutely mangled. Looked like it had been through a tornado. I think that's more on the freight company that got put in charge of delivering it but man was I pissed. Thankfully the driver who delivered it was cool asf and let me look through everything to make sure it was all there. Some things I will say is definitely order the tie down tracks, and the locks they sell are pretty eh. Eh in the sense of there super stiff to get a key into and very finicky. If anyone out there has a decked and maybe upgraded to some different locks lemme know plz because I'm really not impressed with the ones they sell. All in all I do love it. I can still load a roll of hay on top when need be. I've been able to actually haul things I couldn't in the past due to having more surface area now thanks to the decked. I will admit its not for everyone. But if ya don't like the drawer system they do make a pretty cool toolbox! Chloe you definitely need to do a install video off those lights your talking about for the drawer's whenever you receive them! I would definitely install those.

Fantastic video! One of the best I’ve seen on this product, truly appreciate how thorough you were. You had mentioned something about lights for the Decked system? Do they light up the inside of the drawers? Where did you find those? Thank you…

It’s a great product I almost wanted one for my tundra but you have to keep payload in mind, everything you add to the truck takes away from payload and if you’re overloaded like 100% of overlanders then it’s unsafe.

Exactly. 200lbs of wasted weight, and honestly unused space isn’t cool. That’s better used in armor in SW US. I had to get custom leaf springs because of sprung weight anyway.

Sounds great. I loved your video, I really apreciate that you take your time to over everything. I wonder if Decked is going to make a slim version for the tacoma. My dad is getting a brand new Taco and I wanna give him something usefull and practical to have storage in the bed. But a shallow version would help a lot for him to retain a bit more functionality there. If you know somethkng about a slim version I would apreciate it a lot. Thanks a lot and keep that attitude, it really makes you stand out from a lot of other channels with "similar" content.

👎 I found the DECKED storage system far too restraining - a lot of bed space (horizontal & vertical) lost to two comparatively small drawers. The truck bed is tall enough, but try lifting a large generator onto the top above those drawers. Anyway, I ended up selling it and installing a topper with slide-out cargo tray. Now I have access to the full bed (tray & either side of tray) and the storage boxes built into the sides of that topper - seemingly endless space. I even fitted a ramp onto the cargo tray to help load that generator.

The locks are trash. They break the plastic that holds the metal bar from the actual lock. Pull hard and it snaps. Ask me how I know. Contacted Decked and they said they know its a problem but have not addressed it in years. They told me how to "fix" it but it should not break in the first place and I should not have to go buy parts and modify it. Other than that, its been a good product.
