It is so cute, adorable but also so heartbreaking to see Paul turn around and look at John when he hears him singing. Paul even talked about in the Get Back Documentary that he visioned them all playing and singing when they were old!

When they were rehearsing this in the documentary - amazing moment where John literally yells "SING! PAUL!" To get him to duet with him at the last part of the song. It was a little shocking - the documentary - John was really pushing Paul with no mercy - but look at the result. That duet is timeless golden rock n roll. SING PAUL!!! I will never forget. I was surprised to be moved to tears when John came on. Paul must’ve wrestled with this for some time… the technology having been perfected to sync it so well. I wonder how many times they ran through this without an audience? I’d love to hear Paul’s account of how this evolved to being performed live. If I’m not mistaken there’s a gasp from the audience before the delight sinks in. What a moment!!

  • @thomaswatkins3686

Lol. Whatever. It was just another way Paul can stretch the Beatle thing on past the last 30 years he’s tried to embrace it. It was no struggle to him It was “can I make money off John and have I said enough nasty things about Yoko to make her not let me?” Paul and John weren’t great friends when he died. That’s a fact. There is an interview with John where he said Paul kept showing up at the door and he wanted him to start calling because he’d largely grown out of the Beatle thing. Paul using his likeness without him explicitly saying he could is similarly intrusive and it’s just lame now. I don’t know why fans find this so amusing. He’s really just using his dead band mates likeness without his consent to make money on something the guy was trying to get away from. That’s the difference between the two.

Paul said on Yahoo that Peter Jackson suggested the idea to him and he immediately accepted. Paul said that he loved the idea. And Matteo Allegra is correct. Technology to play in sync with a recording *has* been around for awhile. I remember first seeing that done with Natalie Cole doing a duet with her father Nat King Cole. They sang "Unforgettable".😊

Right… Paul had the best solo career by far. He’s never stopped writing new stuff post Beatles. His last album was critically acclaimed and sold a ton. In my opinion the last decade or so it’s become clear to most fans that Paul was the real force behind the Beatles. John burned out after about 1966. Honestly Paul is doing John a courtesy by showing him at his concerts.

How good is that? He is just incredible, to still be playing at his age. Not only that but he's still got it. The greatest songwriter, performer and musician in popular music. He has inspired so many people. I can remember being on a bus sitting at the bus stop outside a picture theatre where 'A Hard Days Night' was playing back in 1964. I could hear the girls screaming inside the theatre and I was outside in the street, sitting in the bus. They were the biggest thing ever. They inspired me to take up guitar in my teens. My mates and I were going to be another Beatles. Then again, so was every other young kid with a guitar. I have all their albums, all their movies, nearly every book ever written about them, books about their gear. I have learned nearly all their songs but I never get tired of hearing them. There aren't enough superlatives to describe their immense talent. Paul, given his incredible celebrity, is still the most humble, wonderful human being. What more can one say? It's Paul McCartney.

I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd (post plane crash), with Johnny VanZant do a duet with his older brother, Ronnie, in this same format, and THAT made me weep! If I could have seen McCartney do this duet with John, I would have been on the floor, weeping. These men wrote the soundtrack of my life. I've known since December 8th, 1980 that there would never be a Beatles reunion... The 2 Lennon songs that came out with the Anthologies felt like as close as we'd ever get to a new Beatles album, and now this performance by McCartney with Lennon on the screen, is the closest to a live reunion the world will ever get. Once again, thanks to Sir Paul for keeping the flame lit and keeping The Beatles alive!!!
