I knew I was watching the right video, as I’m sitting here folding and putting away laundry… I spent all day reflecting on my year and planning for this new one. I silently breathed ‘surrender’ for my focus word about 10 minutes in. I stopped your video and created my new agenda focusing on my word for the year. I just came back to finish watching your video and about fell over when you stated your word for the year! Looking forward to 2024 with someone who has the same outlook for the year as I do. I feel like there was a reason I clicked on your video today! :)

You are so well spoken Emma, maybe it’s the teacher in you, 😉but everything you say is so so relatable and true. You feel like a big sister to me. I’m 24, my husband and I have been married 2 years and we will start trying to conceive this year. I know KZread is a public platform, and you need to keep some things private but I want to say that you do a great job at being transparent at the same time and as a person who is a believer, also in 20’s, had plans to be a teacher but not anymore, I appreciate every word of wisdom you share. Last New Year’s Eve, I found out I was pregnant with my second child 🥹 sitting here now, rocking her to sleep, my husband is rocking my 2 year old son. My heart is full. I never imagined I would be here. God has absolutely blessed my family 🥰

Wow. Just wow. I’ve never related to someone so much. I too quit my teaching job (prekindergarten) to be a stay at home mom. I too found out I was pregnant in July, which wasn’t easy first trimester but pulled through! I too hosted three Bible studies this year for the first time ever. Which was/is a work in progress but still grateful for the opportunity. I too took a first family trip this year with my little family. Your words are so strong and peaceful and I’m so grateful that God lead me to you. Becoming a SAHM I too am able to read a chapter of Bible a day and it’s so calming and I feel accomplished when doing so. So thank you for being here and thank you for sharing your story/ life with me. 2022 was a very hard year for my family with loss and this year we had another loss but we remain strong for our child/ren. I can’t wait to watch another one of your videos 🤍

Love your videos, so blessed by you. This year I want to be more open to people. I'm an introvert and often come across as being aloof because I fail to interact with people, I've had feedback that people find me intimidating, not sure why, but I think it's because I'm abrupt and aloof a lot of the time. So this year I'm asking God to change me in this area, not to be an extrovert, but to be more sensitive to others, show more compassion, be aware of situations and to be slow to anger and quick to listen, not to always jump in with advice or my opinion, but to be someone that listens

Emma, I love this video!! I started the “word of the year” in 2023 because of you and it reeeeally helped ground me. I am still praying on mine for 2024. I’m nervous to attempt reading the full bible, but im going to try because I definitely need to be more disciplined with that. I love your videos and seeing how much you have grown this year! You are such an inspiration and a light. Keep spreading God's word. One goal I have is to grow in my relationship with God, daughter, friend, and teacher. This will be my first year teaching! I will be a toddler teacher! I am very excited.

We are doing the Bible recap this year with our church. I'm so excited to get to chat about the Bible with my spouse more! I'm completely decluttering all the thing. Do my kids need 100 colored pencils? No, thats overwhelming. They need one of each color. Im shocked that little things like that make a huge difference for us to manage!

Yes I agree. Complaining is something I also need to work on. I like the focus on refinement as opposed to goals to check off. I also read the Bible this year and am so glad I did. Wait until next year! After another year of reading the Bible, I hope we will be amazed at how it takes root.

I needed to hear this today. 2023 has been a rough year for me, especially in the mental health department. I am a full time special education teacher with a one year old daughter and, let me tell you, balancing that is always a fun time. I think one of the things that was so hard was that I blinked and a year with my daughter had come and gone. That was tough for me. I learned something this year, however, and that is the importance of contentment. That is the word that I have chosen for 2024. I want to slow down, simplify, be joyful, and find contentment with what God has given me and where He has placed in at this stage in my life. Thank you for sharing your heart with all of us! It really does help when you hear someone else out there is going through something similar or who has already been through it. I hope you and your family have a blessed new year! 😊

Same! I'm jewush so our prayers are with bit different. I didn't do much formal prayer when my first few kids were really little and just finally got it into routine again. It's definitely more like an item to check off my list! I want to work on focusing on the actual words and their meaning (they're in Hebrew, my 3rd language, so the translating takes some effort). Great point!

Hi Emma! Love your theme of the year! I'm expecting my fourth in the spring and we're planning on redoing our kitchen a couple months before so it really fits in with my upcoming year. I don't set yearly goals, i do them monthly and sometimes weekly. But definitely something worth keeping in mind through that!

I don't know you, but I feel like we'd be friends. I've been watching your channel since your student teaching days (I was student teaching at the same time). You've helped me through my first few years of teaching by providing so many great ideas. But now seeing your channel develop into a christian SAHM has been so wholesome and inspiring. I've seen your view on life change, your language and topics change and develop, and your faith grow. All of which have been so inspiring to me as a SAHM now too. Thank you for all you do!
