WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZreads lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZread deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

No matter how thin you slice something, there will always be 2 sides. Dilon here. I am here to tell you my part of the story. First of all, let me be clear, we do not pay to alter the tone of any reviews. There is a clear distinction between paying for a KZread fee associated with putting up a review and paying to alter the content of the review; and for our case, it is the former. Gary is not right to say that we paid for altered content reviews when he has no proof whatsoever that it is the case - this is a false claim. If we have that mindset, why would we even approach Gary at the first place? The video is out and the request to take it down was after it is live. I saw the video hours before it went live like everyone, and I have not said anything to Gary prior to the video about apart from just sending the watch outright. There is a misconception that paid KZreadr reviews are skewed which I beg to differ. KZreadrs are human too, they need to be compensated for the time, costs and effort associated with creating a video. KZread commission itself is insufficient to make a living (unless you have millions of views). There are KZreadrs that requires fees and there are some that does not but want the product instead. Gary, in this case just wanted the product. But if you were to draw the ethical line, isn't taking the product sponsored too? The product has a cost element. I think, Gary has every right to say whatever he wants if he buys the watch outright without the brands knowledge and post a review about it. On a separate note, as a creator, it simply does not make sense to reach out to a KZreadr in hopes for some brand awareness, but the opposite happens when the reviewer posts something negative about it. Put yourself in my shoe, would you reach out to a reviewer and knowing that there is a chance he could completely tarnish your brand and you have no chance to say anything once you send your product over? At least give the creator a chance to opt not have it shown to the world. This is akin to inviting a stranger to your home for a coffee chat, but the stranger steals during his visit. At least give the creator a chance to say no, I change my mind in letting you in my home, I think this is potentially harmful for me. What I essentially disagree with the video put out is the tone with regards to the pulsometer function. Gary repeatedly mentioned that it is a gimmick and useless feature. Pulsometers has existed for a long time and has been in big brands too like Longines, Oris, Patek, etc. If you want to be objective about this, all watch bezels are obsolete to a certain degree, simply because the digital counterparts are far superior. Practically, all diver uses digital dive watch and the same goes to tachymeters, telemeters and all. Why bother with a Tourbillion? a quartz watch is far more accurate? For folks that says divers bezel can be used for timing, the same can be done with any bezel that has a triangle, just simple turn the triangle to the minute hand and you can have a mechanical timer. Why does the branding have to suffer simply for choosing an out of the ordinary bezel? What is more important IMHO, is simply the fact that this function can be utilized mechanically. It is more of the concept, less of the use. I have no issues on Gary mentioning about the larger tolerance bezel, bezels are made to be rotated. Larger tolerance will take into accounts for the dirt and grease that builds up over time that stops the bezel from rotating, which some might raise as an issue over time. And frankly speaking, no one would push the bezel like that in any normal circumstances, let alone turn the bezel. We have sold heaps of Pacer and not a single refund or exchange, no one has complained about the bezel tolerance so far. In hindsight, perhaps I think its fair for KZreadr to present the brand owners the chance to opt out of reviews before going live. Branding is fragile, so is life - everyone is trying to make a living. There is also a distinction between the freedom of opinion and whether the opinion is correct. In this case, I disagree with his tone on the pulsometer function; I may be wrong. In all honesty, Gary has all the right to voice his objective opinion in his review. Sometimes being right is good, but being nice is more important. In this case, Gary chose to be right. I am dishearten that the situation has turned out this way. I guess this is the risk every entreprenuer has to take to grow; some punching along the way. Regards, Dilon

@@mancheront3678 His review is fair, and overall positive. I think it would have been better for you had you just go along with it. I disagree with your talking points. 1. If people ask for money to do review of course there is a large chance they gonna be biased, that's implied. 2. No, it's not like a guest steals, the comparison is you invited a guest to your house and he told other people he didn't like your house. 3. He spent like 3-4 sentence saying bezel function is impractical, you also agree, everybody else would also agree, no one is turned away because of this, what's the big deal? 4. That play in the bezel is definitely too big at least for me, so you are saying that is intentionally by design? You would make the wobble this big just for dirt and grease to get between without the bezel get stuck, that makes no sense at all! If you are not saying this just to defend yourself then maybe you might want to reconsider this design.

7 years to put a big bulky bezel on top of a dime a dozen sub homage case and a crown that doesn't match anything. The hands are a little small and and a timing function 99% of people will never use, that should (in my opinion) at least have a lumed second hand. Yeah, I'm not quite sure this one is going to fly off the shelves.

Really good and fair review. The deficiencies you point out are really honest and helpful, both for the brand owner and potential buyers. I for one would never have been able to notice deficient elements like the bezel wobble and that crazy lug finishing. Hopefully the brand owner can take the critiques in stride and kick on.

Well, nice to see the video you reference on ilw2. Dylan needs to relax because the positives you highlight outweigh the negatives and the negatives you mention are subjective to your likes and preferences, wirh the exception of the wobbly bezel that is objectively not good. Keep the video on, Dylan, you should appreciate reviews like this because they will help you make improvements on future releases. Re the watch, I love white dials and this one to me looks pretty cool, and I do love the uniqueness of having a heart rate bezel timer, I think that’s very cool, even though it isn’t something I would find overly practical for me, it’s just cool, why I also like tachymetre and telemetre on bezel, not because I find them super useful, I just like cool factor the eye candy factor, so I like that about this watch. Thanks Gary for another fantastic honest review

24 hour subdial is actually really useful for mechanical watches with date wheels. Setting the date and time becomes less of a hassle when there is a 24 hour subdial. Love the power indicator too. Also a really useful function! To me, it looks like the size of the dial is too small for this movement? No space for 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock left on the dial. Regarding the heartbeat bezel, I think the new gshocks with heartbeat readers are more convenient, but I like the idea of trying to do this with a traditional watch!

On second thought I think the watch is made to be way overpriced by losing focus regarding what actually are its selling points in this saturated market. I think the pulsometer is a good idea and so is the design of the caseback, but the originality of the watch ends there. Hence, the price has been unnecessarily made too expensive. Why assemble it in Switzerland? And why the power reserve indicator and this particular movement? The watch could easily have been made in a high-quality factory in Asia with simpler entry-level 3 hands-movements and still have the components that make this watch unique. This way, the price would have been reduced to 1/3 of what it is now plus maybe with more room for aesthetic creativity for the dial and case shape design, as it just does not have much to speak about aesthetically.

Gary - Interesting to see and some really nice points. Nice to see a different movement in play and I really like that power meter and I’m not usually a fan; but I like the way the meter hand hinges from the 12 o’clock position and so close to the edge. Pulsations and 24 hour dials are functions that I really use but I can see the balance and the aesthetics at work. The hands looked a little thin and lost to me and I probably would prefer them and the indices to be a fraction thicker. Black on black is definitely the best of the three colours. But the reason I didn’t even go as far as investigating the price is that clasp - just not a fan of butterflies at all (poor fit, fiddly, uncomfortable, etc.). I’m guessing they are a bit “marmite” in the watch world?

And, I know they don't design or build the movements, so this isn't on them, but why oh why can't the 24 hr indicator *ever* be adjustable? The pulsometer chrono was made in the early 18th century for use in pocket watches and a physician could use it single handedly while palpating the patient's artery with the other hand. These modern posers don't make the job any quicker nor more accurate since as long as a watch has a ticking second hand (or digital display) you can get the HR quicker by measuring a 10s interval or be more accurate by taking a 60s interval. Focus should be on the quality of the patient's pulse rather the exact beat rate since arrhythmias can be easily detected this way. Lovely video as always!

Added to that, almost all patient facing health care roles follow a "Bare below the elbow" policy, you shouldn't be wearing a wristwatch.

Keep doing your honest reviews. If Dylan isn't happy send him his watch back. I wouldn't want to win it from one of your watch give aways. I could actually see the utility of a pulse rate bezel. Exercise fanatics always want to know their heart rate. But of course they are all wearing a Fit bit or other smart watch with a constant heart rate monitor. I might have liked this when I was a nurse in the 1970s. But today nurses and doctors all use a finger pulse oximeter. You know, they slip it on your finger every time you go to the clinic.

unique looking watch but seems way overpriced....I'm sure there are reasons (is the movement really that expensive?) but AUD950 seems high to me...but I do really like the clean design, the 24 hour subdial I find handy for setting the watch, and I really dig a power reserve function, other than the price it's a great looking watch

There are negative reviews on all the watch brands, from micro brands to established mainstream ones. Just have a look at the flak Rolex cops by a LOT of watch reviewers, some who flatly refuses to own one. I bought a Black Bay, after it being severely criticised for being "boring" and a Rolex wannabee by many watch channels. But I still bought it because I like it. Asking someone to remove a bad review is just bad optics, Dylan. You have a great looking watch, and I will take it over a Panzera every day. Because I like what I see. By inserting yourself in the negativity distracts from the pure visual appeal. Let the watch do the talking now. Do not try to silence your critics, embrace it and use it to your advantage by focusing on the positives that was mentioned. Also realise that spending 7 years on a project will make you more susceptible to not reacting well to critique. It is after all your vision coming to life. I would buy it, regardless of the reviewer's opinion. BTW, I think it was a good review, but will not affect my decision making. If it did, I will not own a single watch.

lol to be fair what features on watches is useful in today's world? Do real divers use mechanical dive watches? Not professional ones anyway. Do racing drivers use the tachymeter features on watches? Do pilots use the fuel burn calculations on a watch? The list goes on and on but the facts are all watch types and features are rarely used in todays world are just there as part of a watches design and a nod back to the past when people did use them.
