  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    I actually think the servo would have been okay if the aluminum servo saver hadn't completely seized up. It actually held up pretty well given that there was no servo saver essentially. I did not tune the differentials they are still stock and they feel pretty good so I don't think they need to be messed with. I didn't add it all up and honestly I would be afraid to but it's probably in the 800 to $900 range

    @@DoRC WOW! That's alot but it is a tank now👍 thx for being honest... I feel some creators just push upgrades without discussing how expensive they are. Tbh I would start with upgrading the towers, braces, servo holder and chassis. I've got carbon fibre towers on my fireteam which have been bulletproof so far 👍 the rest is exb parts. I would love to see what difference a set of 6s backflips would be on the truck. 🙂🙂

    Where the heck did my comment go? Edit: Well anyway...that's a really stout build. AllinRC stuff is super solid. Strongest, most thick machined 6061 aluminum out there. Their suspension blocks aren't hollow either. Beautiful truck.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    7 ай бұрын

    Thanks! Yeah overall I'm pretty happy with their products though the servo saver is not something I would use again. It galled and seized up pretty much immediately.

  • @Shadows-RC

    @Shadows-RC

    7 ай бұрын

    @DoRC That's good to know. But I'm super happy with their suspension blocks. On my K6, I use Hot Racing's. Just make sure you disassemble the servo saver, and with an EXB spring, put a thick washer from the EXB shim kit for open diffs in it. If ya' don't, the poor aluminum halves will constantly grind against each other until they're ruined, regardless of the brand. I find doing that to be more stout than the adjustable servo saver tubes with the threads. There's a method to get that stock servo saver apart using a thick cap head screw, some stock steering bushings, two wrenches, and a bench vice.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    7 ай бұрын

    @all-is-Grass interestingly the stock servoSaver on this truck just came right apart. It wasn't even threadlocked. I don't know if they missed it or if they're not doing that anymore but it has an o-ring like the aftermarket ones do. I did put dry lubricant on the all-in RC servo saver before installing it. It seems as though the ramp got deformed which caused it to seize up. It's possible that it just isn't up to the task of these big tires and all the abuse I was putting it through. Not entirely sure. Could have just been a fluke too.

    @@DoRChey there, liked your videos and now i ordered a Big Rock for myself, i see you are discussing the servo saver and in the Kraton EXB video you mentioned the new design being so much better, have you tried that one on the Big Rock 6S? Would you recommend going for that one as some sort of "day 1" upgrade? Its not crazy expensive and Arrma list it as optional part for the BR6S. Which of the upgrades you did, or are available now would you say are a must have for any new BR owners? Thanks and keep up with the good work, ill try not to wreck mine in the first drive, lol.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    Ай бұрын

    @@402Racing I'm always hesitant to recommend upgrades right out of the gate just because I don't know how you bash and I don't know how you'll crash. If you're a fairly gentle basher and are just out having a good time with it not smashing it up too much you may never need to upgrade anything. The stock service is fine for the stock servo in most cases. It usually ends up being a problem when you upgrade the servo and the servo saver just can't keep up. Ultimately I say take it out and have fun with it and then worry about upgrading stuff when you find weak points according to your own bashing style.

  • @Naginc
    @Naginc7 ай бұрын

    Great video! I mean youve got reviewers bashing the vehicle, which some criticism is good, but theyve gone overboard forgetting what this hobby is all about. Arrma and Traxxas dont build rc's to jump 40 ft in the air from the factory, period. If a person wants that you have to spend $$$ for upgrades which youve done. Guys buy a 1k dollar Xmaxx and immediately take out all the electronics...they call the electronics trash, from factory, I've never upgraded my Xmaxx I kept it factory because I wasn't prepared to spend a lot of money, but if I did, I would follow your lead. I own a ton of rc's from different brands, some of these reviewers dont realize theyre killing the market of which provides them income. The Sledge nosedived from the factory. Truth is this is an expensive hobby. Great video

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    7 ай бұрын

    Yeah big air gets the views but it's not representative of how most people are going to run these vehicles. Personally I haven't really noticed much in the way of nose diving. The truck doesn't have the best air control in the world and maybe people who are used to having good air control aren't accounting for that but that's also really not what this truck is for. It's not a stunt truck. If it was it wouldn't have a 3 lb body on it :-) Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching!

    Front Diff will be the first thing to fail. Outside of their drive shafts, everything else negatively alters the engineering of the RC, to each his or her own though.

    @@colerippeon3903 Yeah I really don't know why a front differential would be a specifically targeted part. Front diff certainly has less load on it than the rear diff.

    If they are the EXB diffs, they have been solid for me after a few months on my K6SXL with the MMX8S and HW 4985 motor. 23T pinion 🤷. But that's a different beast.

    Sorry I don't specifically have one. Honestly I wouldn't recommend this specific build anyway. It was kind of designed to get over the top thing and isn't the most practical in the world.

    @MLE.TheDottedLine the best way to get stock part numbers is just to look up the exploded view diagram on the horizon website. It's interactive and you can just click on the numbers to get the part.

    Why buy the stock model when you're going to change pretty much every part? Just by a pile of aftermarket bits and build it from scratch.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    Yeah if you're just doing this at home it would possibly make sense to go that route however I bought the truck to review on the channel and then to do the upgrade video so just buying a pile of parts would have eliminated half of that equation. Sometimes for the sake of the channel and you guys I have to do stuff that doesn't quite make sense:)

    I didn't add it all up but it's probably around 8 or $900. I'm not going to say that the upgrades I did were all practical but part of this hobby is making things your own and having fun and I really enjoy upgrading!

    Dont get me wrong, im a idiot that spent $349 a few years ago on a 3S Typhon, and now have over $2200 in the thing, yeah I creid to. I slowly do the upgrades, compared to this guy, due to cant afford do all that at once. I have 3 more RCs im working on, again little by little. I dont buy new RCs anymore, just focus on upgrades myself. Want a newer RC, I buy a blank body, paint it, and tada . . . Well maybe some new shoes to

    @creditrazer981 before I really got into my channel I used to do things largely the way you did. I had a few or RCs that I spent a lot more time with developed and got exactly the way I liked them. The channel sort of shifts that paradigm away from doing that though.
