I'm not talking about stealing something straight. No one likes a thief. What I'm talking about is taking inspiration from other songs and tweaking it to create your own music. Happy producing!

If you want to release your "stolen" music, sign up with DistroKid using my link. You get 7% off your first year and it helps my channel. Win win! distrokid.com/vip/seven/5273335 And one thing to clarify, taking chord progressions is fair game. Taking melodies as is, not so much.

Major Labels/Artists do it all the time from lesser known artists. When lesser known artists try the reverse the labels want blood.

Right? And with my Ed Sheeran example, he's got the money for expensive lawyers and whatnot. Regardless... stealing straight = bad stealing for inspiration = good.

its a great way to learn and develop your own style. nothing wrong with it as long as you are not copying whole parts of a song. i think you showed a good way to incorporate certain elements you got "inspired by" into your project. :)

Thanks. Agreed, I worked in TV for 10+ years as a video editor and stealing/finding inspiration was part of the process.

Cartoons and animes have some dope music. But yeah as long as you're not copying it straight, it's fair game. Change the key, change a few notes, and/or change the tempo and you're 👍
