I Turn stainless Steel Bolt into Pneumatic Air Graver Tool
Ғылым және технология
This video is on my to-do list for a very long time and I thought it's going to be an easy build but it wasn't that easy. Working with stainless steel is difficult especially when you don't have enough tools. During this graver build, I failed 2 Times, and One time I didn't like the design. So a total of three fails but the good thing is that finally, I am able to have this fantastic tool which I dreamed of for a very long time. I watch a couple of videos of how to make graver but I want mine to look high-quality lite steve Lindsey graver. It might not be that great for someone else but for me it's awesome. Definitely, the design was different but that's a common type of air graver you can buy. The inspiration comes from Shaun Hughes Engraving. Absolutely humble person and master of engraving. He helped whenever I needed it. If you wanted to step into this field highly recommend watching his channel. You will surely learn tons of tricks and tips about engraving. I got this engraving passion by watching his videos.
The material used in this build is M20 Stainless steel Bolt and 2 M20 nuts. The graver holder is made with M8 stainless steel Bolt having a 3mm hole drilled to accept 3mm blanks. You can drill any size hole according to your use. It would be good If you make it with M16 bolts and in that way, the tool is a lot lighter, and instead of a 12 mm hole drilled for the piston you can go with a 10 mm hole. Usually, the piston weight is kept around 5gm But mine is around 10gm, so pretty heavy than usual. The heavier the piston the force is also higher and you can work with hard material quite easily. I am not a master in this field like Mr. Shaun but tried to show you how the graver performs. Due to some shipping problem, I am not able to use a variable speed regulator but it's surely gonna ease the work. The compressor I use is a car compressor running with 12v. Usually, graver needs to work with half the motor speed of the compressor. In that case, the piston oscillates less and you have higher control over your tool.

Wow dude. Prime example of if you want to make something, you'll figure out a way to make it. I see so many haters on YT talking about "if I had this tool or that tool" I could make that too. You just showed how to do it with basic power tools. Great video and great end result.

Very impressed. With three fails most people would've given up. Glad you persevered. That's a self build to be proud of and the envy of many. Awesome
This is an amazing end result achieved with a minimum of tools. Very, very impressive.
An amazing example of what can be done with what's available with enough determination. Not only did you achieve the desired result but you made it beautiful as well. I tip my hat to you Sir!

All the knowledge of so many industrial products from, "making do" tools, to making an awesome machinist grade piece of equipment. Amazing. Guys like you are going to be hanging out in their garage bringing to the world, everything from wheels that generate more power than they use to run auto,' trains, Etc. To bring perpetual motion to reality, while scholars and grads in engineering switch from saying: " impossible!!" To: "How did he do that?" Great video. I am also a Craftsman gadget guy. Good to see other innovative thinkers, in their shops. That Vise is a fine one. The tool is incredible. Getting precision parts to make air products work is very difficult. Ask Ingersol Rand.

THANK YOU so very much for this detailed and beautiful exposure o f design and artistic craftsmanship. You use the same kind of hand and power tools most of us have in our workshops, so I feel confident that we can duplicate what you have so generously shared with us. You have taken the time and prior planning to make this easy to comprehend. One thing that concerns me, though, is wearing jewelry while operating power tools. One moment of outside distraction could potentially severely damage the wrist or hand that is so very skillful.🥴🧘🏻♂️💫

This man is a Genius at what he does, it takes a lot of skill to makes the equipment he is making, making it even more special, with the small amount of equipment he has to make his engravers, putting the hard work, and labor of love he puts into his equipment he makes from scratch. If the engravers turn out this tremendous with the lack of a lathe, think of what kind equipment he could really turn out with the proper equipment. I would love to have one of his home made engraver setups.

Brilliant video, you are very skilled to do all that without a lathe, thank you for sharing! Can I ask, is there a spring inside the Graver like Shaun's ones? And is it placed in the barrel before adding the piston so it is between the graver holder and piston or after the piston is in the barrel, between the piston top and handle?
@ambroscustom

Thanks for the generous words my friend. No there is no spring. It actually don't required either insted it shorten the stroke. So i didn't put any spring in this.

Perfect I love it. How long is the 20mm bold, and how long the 8mm hole?
@ambroscustom
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Well you definitely not need to kept them as what I did, the back length which you can call cylinder having hole of 12 mm and the cylinder length is 50 mm. The front threaded hole length is 25 mm. But you can increase or decrease it. The cylinder length usually depends upon the compressor strength. You need to calculate the volume of the compressor cylinder and volume of graver cylinder. Graver volume should always kept half the compressor cylinder volume. Hope it helps if not definitely let me known.
such an amazing job dude seeing as you didn't use a lathe, congrats 👍

Ojala m puedas responder.
@ambroscustom
3 жыл бұрын
Супер! отличное видео! спасибо

Hello! Good video. What air source it works on. Can you post drawings. Thanks.
@ambroscustom
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I am using car compressor modified it do that it do both suction and compression. I didn't made any drawing because principle is very simple but a quick suggession is that if you are using car compressor then make sure it has a big cylinder because overall the stroke is depend upon the volume. Make sure the graver chamber volume does not exceed ½of the compressor cylinder volume. You have to modify the compressor to do both suction and compression. If you are making one and get into some problem then feel free to contact me. Good luck
Incrível, algum talvez eu construa um também.
Nice
Excellent build Sir. But god only knows how you still have all your fingers 😂
