The ony thing i don't like about shorts is that they seem not to have any impact on long form videos... and people that sub from shorts don't watch long form because most of them seem to have ADHD ;x

haha, you definitely have a point here, but if the monetization ends up being good and these shorts become very profitable I for sure still think it's worth trying

thanks for the video i myself have noticed that if your video is longer like 40+ seconds and has high retention like 80%+ it will have a way higher chance to gain more views. Even if a short has like 120% retention but is short like 12 seconds or so it will gain a couple thousand views like 2-5k but thats it. it wont get more views over a long period of time (atl east in my experience) just writing this to help some people :)

Very interesting video, wonder how things will change whenever it gets monetized in February...

I feel almost jealous seeing 5-digit views on some of your shorts, haha. Mine are litteraly stuck between 1.2k and 2.2k. Can't get above that even though some of the Shorts have a 120% retention rate. Go figure :D Good video, loved it!

Honestly, something i figured out with my shorts is that, the retention matters not as much as how long they watch. So make the videos around 30 seconds and entertaining enough to have then watching for 25-45 seconds. I can't do it with my shorts if you see my channel

same my shorts ar about 10sec long and 100% + retention rate and stuck at 2.5k views but yea im just at the start line

Which channel are these results quoted from?

Can you suggest some niches to start a channel about. The niche in which I am currently uploading isn't getting that much views even with 70% retention rate. I was thinking to start a channel like Daily Dose Of Internet.

can you join the shorts program if u have 1k subs and 4k watch hours only or do u also need the 10m shorts views requirement aswell

Basically, you need 4k watch-hours from normal youtube videos that are not shorts, or 10m views from shorts to be able to join :)

@@ItsRagnar2 that's okay. I'm in the small business events area for my channel. I'm not into gamming or those other areas. So don't worry. I was only commenting because sharing fully is what I do and I don't fear customers knowing. I've run whole one day business seminars revealed all my secrets only for attendees rolling up the day after to buy my one to one support at full price. It's just something to think about one day and be amazed at the results.
