I Tried Writing Like Full-Time Author Victoria Aveyard // Writing Experiment

Ойын-сауық

I tried Victoria Aveyard's writing routine in this writing experiment! That's right, I tried writing like full-time author Victoria Aveyard. Victoria is the author of the Red Queen series and Realm Breaker. She considers herself to be a full-time author and her writing schedule was a fun one to try out!

Victoria Aveyard is an inspiration. She's so honest about the logistics of her career, completely real about the "this pays the bills" part. I love the creativity of writing, but it's soo true that there has to be a lot of disciple to keep a sustainable income. Great video!!

The most inspiring thing is how Aveyard treats her writing as a business. I think this is one of the clear distinctions between amateur writers and professionals. The professional will decide to write, period. So I like to hear that, and it also applies for those who do not write full-time. I enjoy these writing experiment videos, I always make notes throughout. 👍

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I agree, I think it's awesome that she treats it so professionally and just shows up, and whatever happens at the page happens and she doesn't shoot for a certain word count

If I ever becomes successful author, I’m going to make sure I publish my whole routine so people like Sarah and me can copy, lol. Also, Sarah, would you consider doing a video about your own writing routine? Like, “I tried writing like Ideal Sarah Lubratt“ where you write down your ideal writing routine or what works best for you and trying to hit all of those boxes?

Lol Sam that's so smart 😂. I've made several writing routine videos about my own and there will always be more to come as I evolve as a writer and figure it out! And P.S. it's Sara, not Sarah :)

Love this! I know Victoria usually works out and walks her dog before even the admin stuff (she's one of my regular viewings when I watch her instagram stories). I absolutely love watching her stories because she is so open and honest about her writing process. Hers is probably most similar to mine (minus a few things, of course), but when I'm drafting, I usually hole up in my office by 10am and stop writing by 6/7.

Just want to add that I'm not a full-time writer lol. I have the weekends and Wednesdays to write as much as I can, and it's how I utilize them to their full advantage.

Awesome video! I typically work Monday through Wednesday for my "day job" and have a pretty strict writing schedule on Thursdays and Fridays. It makes me wonder what I could accomplish by setting those kinds of specific daily writing hours. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work!

Funny enough, being a nocternal writer is currently my ideal writing schedule... (And is, for the most part) :P Glad you were so productive that day! Also; I've been meaning to mention: our next door neighbor has a long-time visitor living at their house, and the car out front has Utah plates.... Reminds me of you whenever I go out/come home, lol.

I'm not really into writing myself, I love the thought of being an author, but when it comes to actually doing it I feel like it's not really for me. So instead I watch book reviews and your vlogs, just to get a little bit of it in my life. Haha, I'm weird.

Techniques used by other authors being duplicated as an experiment have often been the weirdest videos for me. Not sure why. Side note: finished the outline yesterday. It clocked in much closer to 15,000 than my predicted 10,000. So my semblance of NaNoWriMo was successful and then some, and now I get to sit all comfy in the stands cheering on friends like you as you work toward your typical 50K.
