I tried wooden pixel art! This is essentially a big acrylic painting... on wooden blocks. I really enjoyed trying a new art style and learning something new. It's an honor to share this experience with you! Turns out making pixelated artwork takes a lot of planning - mad respect for all artists who do this! :D

Woodoku is such a fun game!!!
I made a Stardew valley chicken, cat, frog, and mushroom recently out of wood blocks 🥰 they turned out so cute!!

I had to google what you wrote.. never heard of Stardew but now I want the cat! lol
Cross stitch can lean into this very easily 😊 You’ve inspired me to take my cross stitch designs and do them in wood!

So true!! And that sounds like a really cool art project!

I was thinking of how needlepoint on plastic canvas is so similar to this.
I think you are the first KZread artist that I've seen to create an art piece like this pixilated art mushroom, which by the way, was very nicely done. I have never played Woodoku, or made pixilated art, the idea has merit tho. I wonder if it would be possible to use the blocks to make a 3D piece? What do you think? Thank you for the inspiration Mira. I hope you and hubby and the babies are doing well. God bless you all.
This is such a fun way to do a wall hang! I wonder if you could do it with velcro on the back of the wooden blocks so you could make like an ever changing art tapestry using a felt or other velcro friendly fabric.
I love your art, your so kind and nice and I love your channel!

Aww, thank you so much!
I've made pixel art using scrabble pieces I got loose from thrift stores, I painted them before I used. It was fun. I also made pixel art/checkerboard style drink coasters and sealed it with varnish. And those were stocking stuffers for the adults in my life that year.

Such a good idea for stocking stuffers! Will definitely keep this in mind!
I love pixel art! I might try to recreate this in my Minecraft world! Edit to add: I LOVE the thumbnail....so good!
You can use crochet pattern converter, what converts normal pictures in to pixels to make a chrochet pattern (often used for blancets). It might help to plan a picture and you can choose colors if needed. I used it in my chrochet project like a sweater for the doughter of a friend of mine, I am not a fan pixel art.
This was such a creative use of a sponsorship
I've done something similar with jenga blocks from the dollar store. I've made four sets of coasters (six per set), and worked similarly to you. I painted (or stained) blocks and glued them together and backed them with cork. I've also used the same technique to make charcuterie boards. I made one with a chevron pattern and one with a subway tile pattern. I glued them on top of some scrap wood that I cut down to the size I wanted. All of these took so much longer than I anticipated, but it was so fun! Love how your mushroom turned out!
That turned out very cute. I’ve never done pixel art but I think I would have cheated and glued all the squares on and then painted them.
I’d love to see a floral version!
Cross stitch and knitting/crochet. I used squared paper to help design & add 'pictures' to my knitting & crochet projects 😊
I've never seen a KZread sponsorship from woodoku! I've been playing that game for years and love it.
I have done "pixel art" before, like making mosaics. Only I do it with polymer clay instead of actual tiles, and so that makes it so much more easier to cut it into the pieces that you need for some designs. You might like to try that some time.
I loved this picture, I have done pixelated art before, but i did the grid method, but after seeing you use blocks has actually given me an idea! Wish me luck! And have a great day!
I love doing pixel art! What I normally do is on grid paper and I will copy perler designs, especially for pokemon!
So cute! Like a mashup of Minecraft and Mario!
I actually already play that! It's really fun but can be harder than you would think sometimes.
You just inspired me to try this!! It looks so relaxing and mindless!! You are such a kind and creative person that always has a great videos out here for us!! It reminds me of mosaics.

You are so sweet! Thank you! 💜
I often make pixel art with my mosaic pieces then throw them back in the box 😊❤ love your videos ❤
Hi Mira! Yes I've done pixel art on grid paper with colored pencils. I did some flowers and some comic characters. I should do some more! 🌺🌸🌷🌹. I've also done cross-stitch. :)
I have done a mosaic with construction paper in college. It was fun but that was many years ago before pixel art was a thing. In college for work study i cut out clay tiles and glazed them for my professor's class to use for mosaics. But i transfered schools before i could take that class.
What a great thumbnail picture!
This is so neat. Going to try doing this project. I love making pixel art.
I have never tried pixel art. But doing it with a grid seems fun.
Very cool! It really looks like it took a long time. I'm glad I'm not the only one who watches crafty youtubers while i craft. Btw i was painting while i watched you. 😊
I used to use graph paper and play, playing cards, strips of paper all cut to the same width, but not the same size, pictures of family and friends before that was a thing lol Good for you for trying something new! It's really cute!
I may have done pixel art in art class in school. But nothing major, or worth really remembering. This resembles cross stitch. Well, at least the few cross stitch patterns I have done. 😂 The little mushroom turned out so cute.
Looks cool! somehow I never thought about having a piece of art like this. I'd definitely hang something like that on my wall
This is such a good idea!! I love this. Mira you have inspired me yet again ❤️❤️

Glad to hear you enjoyed this art project!! 😊 💜
I've played that block game. It's fun. Not sure what pixel art is. The Mushroom from Mario Brothers. It turned out really cool. I love it. How fun.
Gave me Mario vibes! lol but I love it! In school, we did pixel art with different color paper squares but it was called mosaic tile art back then.
looks cool, would also be interesting for texture, if you used the 'rough' side of the block (if it has a rough side) to enhance it even further. Well done on the mushroom
Never have tried it before. I feel inspired. Thanks so much for the idea. ❤
I have done pixelated art but not in the sense you're thinking. I make my own (and will be selling soon!) Cross stitch patterns which pixels work REALLY well for it! I actually use blue print graph paper. I believe it's 100 squares to an inch.
Hi Mira, I've tried pixel art, but only in minecraft 😂😂😂 But it was very fun even though it wasn't like a physical art piece 😀 Yours turned out so well!

I’ve done pixel knitting. it is a challenge, but worth it.😊
That came out so cute.
Such fun! It came out great. 💕✌️
I love your videos!! They always inspire me to do art :))
Yes i did in school this year i colored it on paper then used a light box. Then painted i made stitch
I might try this. Painting on wood is soo fun! Loved the art pieace as well!

I hope you do try it!! Pixel art is way more fun than I thought it would be! 😀
I did a pixelated piece out of polymer clay squares based on cross-stitch patterns of geishas. I did this a long time ago(15+ yrs) it turned out ok I thought. I don’t have it any longer because I took it apart for the frame.
omg hahaha this is the perfect combination of my interests. I love your videos and I love Woodoku 😆
very nice design Mira byler! super interesting videos!!
I remember using graph paper to make pixel art when I was younger. I loved this piece that copper paint is awesome!
It came out good. I don’t know how you did this without making a drawing first.
I tried it with cardboard 😊 it was a blast, got lost in it for daysssss and then turned them into magnets for some reseon
this looks so cool! I don't know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't toad 😮
I really like the new background
Hi Myra, I am so glad I found you! I just subscribed😊. I love your enthusiastic bubbly way and how patiently you explain everything. I have been going mad trying to find my art style and then I came across the sketchbook, and then, out of all the artists out there, you are the one. I hope to get notice when you do a new video. I would love to be in a live chat with you guys. It would surely help my depression. See you soon, sparkle on...🥰
looks great, looks like fun😀 but so tedious lol😝
That is awesome!! I didn't do pixel art per say. In the beginning of my art adventures I used the basic computer paint program, and I would add shading and colors 1 pixel at a time. Soooo kinda. But not really. 😅
This looks like so much fun! :) never tried pixel art before, but I might try it in the future, when I have more space for more art supplies 😂
I did a decent amount of pixel art back in 7th grade when I was making assets for a fake Pokémon game in Ruby Script… but then when we went on a vacation, that laptop got stolen on the plane, so I don’t even have that game anymore… 😅 I’ve also done pixel art for Minecraft
This looks like fun=3 My list of things to try is getting longer and longer=) Thank you for the inspiration=3
It would be fun to do barn quilt patterns.
I have been wanting to play with this for awhile.
Neat project. 😊 I haven’t done mosaic, nor pixel art.
Looks good with the wood tiles! I have done pixel art other ways. I have done it with collage and also post it notes(on walls and windows). Its easier if you plan it out of graph paper first.
I love how you try all different kinds of art..... I have so many different art supplies that I can usually find something to try a new methods you've shown us...... Plus I think my Muse for art... Changes her mind a lot 😂😂😂
I love this game. I play it quite often. Great video.
I like the smell of wood, and turpentine with the use in oils.
Very cool! ❤😊
I've done pixel art digitally, but it's always been very undetailed people ones or pokemon in few pixels, haven't done much recently tho
I love this! I actually bought wooden blocks and hexagon blocks to do something similar but not the same. I got them a long time ago but have yet to start it. Lol. ❤
If you do this again you might want to just lay out the blocks close together and use a paint roller on them ❤️❤️❤️
Done the paper and graph paper route of pixel art before, yes.
Yes, I almost always sniff my art supplies, except for stuff like rubber cement. I love the smell of wood, so I'll sniff that a bit longer. (I also like the wood frame stage of home building, I love the smell of all the wood on site.
Feel free to use this as an art idea. I was inspired by this I went to Walmart and got some wood tiles with letters on them and I'm going to make a self portrait with it, with the pixel art in one side and try my best to use the tile to write a message or words of affirmation describing myself on the other, the pokemon gen 3 trainer sprite I think is one of the best pixel art base to use and I think using painters tape or low adhesive tape to secure one side while you glue the other could work and then adding sting to the side so you could flip it over, that is the plan and I hope 200 tiles is enough
13:25 missed opportunity but amazing work❤️🤣
Already play this game, it’s a relaxing game😊 what a fun idea with all those pieces.😊
Wow I have never tried anything like this . very Kool dear
This is the first time I have seen a sponsor I haven't seen as a sponsor but already use 😂 I love that game! Lol

It is sooooo fun!! I've had Woodoku on my phone for a long time and was so excited to have this opportunity!
Hey Mira, I do this with cross stitch. ❤️🌿
Fun!
molotow has acrylic paint in spray cans, and their (REFILLABLE!!!) acrylic markers re leagues above posca imo. So yeah, just a rec, would love if you checked em out in general.
It reminds me of Mario Kart (Nintendo 64 version) its really cool though I wouldn’t have the patience for such a big project
It's so cute that you feel guilty or suspicious when you keep things from us. I was raised differently. One of the main ruless of my home was "Don't lie, but never volunteer information". People outside of our home don't need to know what goes on behind closed doors. My mommie was a lady who would go out her way to help strangers --she even invited a homeless family to live with us, but she knew that her kindness could be interpreted negativity by some, plus getting credit for her good deeds was never something she wanted. She always made sure we lived by Matt 6:3 Don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing. It's always interesting to see how differently Christians decide what is most important to their walk with the Lord.
You inspire me soooooooo Much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You have waaayyy more patience then I do ! 😳
I started a pixel art quilt for my husband, it's the video game fallout logo... I got board of all the square and haven't finished it... 😂
I've done pixel art while designing cross-stitch patterns. I used to plan them out with grid paper, but now I use a program. Cross stitch is kind of pixel art, right?
I love this project so many fun possibilities where did you find the wood blocks? I found some on Amazon but they have rounded edges. Thanks for sharing love your projects and work! Have a great week 😊
Cute and fun! (No, I've never tried pixel art personally)
mira try a bob rose tutorial in acrylics pls
Be careful, this could develop into full-blown mosaic! Next thing you know, you'll be covering every surface with intricate tiled images and motifs. ;-)
Hi Mira. I've been watching your channel for awhile now and just wondered if you ever do anything for the UK?
hiii! where can you get these? you've inspired me to try!! :)
Maybe next time Blu tack them in a row so you can just do one big sweep of the paint.
Latch hook, perler beads, crochet, knitting, cross stitch, that's all pixel art. That's all the pattern is when it boils down to it. A single stitch or bit of color at a time, in a specific color. Pixel art
Love the idea, but PLEASE use that really cheap paint sponges! Those would work brilliantly for this.
Cool 😍👏👏 but if you put it inside a frame , wouldn't it be better? Like it will protect it from dust !
So cool.. but before you painted them. They looked like scrabble tiles form a distance. But I like this idea. Because I’m kinda struggling with art ideas.
I was working on pixel art with crochet while watching your video.😂😂
where did you get the wood squares from interested in trying this.....
Was wondering if you'd be into plastic art? I just saw the first part where you took the plastic bag off the plastic bag and there's so much plastic waste, ya know? Paper trash into wrapping paper has been done already and, along those lines, was just thinking about how you could turn some of the mass amounts of plastic into art :-) we all get a ton of plastic, honestly, but just thought it'd be a neat idea I haven't seen done yet on KZread.
