Gosh...I can not believe how unsophisticated and unbusiness like those coin shops are. I am in Philadelphia and the shops here know what they are doing!!

Hey the 1620 pounds price is not too bad I think. But it's bizarre all these coin shops don't know the country's coin

This was fun to watch! I'd buy from the guy that didn't know a gold one ounce Britannia....was one once, lol! You might get a one ounce Brit for 1/2 ounce price🤣😊

Yeah the UK massively Lacks the culture and knowledge the USA has about gold 😂 That's why it pays to call around, you never know, there could be an opportunity to take advantage of Arbitrage! (Buy from one shop at a cheaper price, sell to another shop at a higher price)

I recently purchased a 1/10 1987 Britannia (first year they were minted) from a Pawn Shop last week 16% below spot… crazy!

I’m lucky to have knowledgeable jeweler who knows his metals and that’s a rare thing here(Sweden). He dabbles in bullion as well. Picked up some earrings for valentines to my girl today and he offered me unbroken tubes of ASE’s for 30$ per coin, that’s unheard of here, bullion dealers sell them for 45-50$.

Wow that's a steal, even in the US ASE's are AT LEAST $33+. I wonder, does Sweden have VAT on Silver?

Are their a shortage of bullion sellers online that have good prices or are they mostly just local coin shops your trying to find to see if they have a good price?

The first one: if the 1/4th ozt is 450 pounds it's not likely that the full ozt is 1800 like she said, since premiums are higher on lower ozt sizes.

I bought mine from Gerrards in London. Helpful staff and deliverd from stock.

You should have followed up with that cheap quote, you might have got lucky.

It almost feels like jewellers and coin shops are as unfamiliar with gold coins as the general masses.

Yeah unlike in the US where Jewellers tend to know American Eagles better. This just goes to show how undervalued gold is in the UK.... No one knows or cares about it (I think I saw a figure saying less than 2% of Brits hold gold)

As of today Saturday Sep 9th 2023 , the Gold spot price was $2620.15 CAD or £‎1539.85 @ closing market on Friday. I was shopping for a 2023 1oz Gold Britannia coin and found the best price of $2744.14 CAD or £‎1612.14. So I see the prices are very compatible though I am surprised you are having a diffilcult time finding one in the UK. The one quoting you £‎930 for a 1oz Gold coin, I would have told her to freeze the price ( we can do this in Canada ) and I would have gotten 4 of them LOL. I think the Britannia is a gorgeous coin and will be aquiring one next week if the price remains fairly the same. Thanx for sharing. Cheers !
