The sad parts about Nando's are that it doesn't make great takeout/delivery because it tastes much better right off the grill with the sauce still on it, (the sauce often falls off during transport,) and the quality can shift vastly from shift to shift depending on who is working. There was one guy at my local Nando's who nailed the balance of crispy grilled bits while keeping the chicken moist inside.

The chillies they use for the peri peri sauce all come from one little chilli farm in south Africa that has family connections to the company. They pay astronomically over market price for these chillies out of good faith and loyalty. They also sell the sauce in bottles on supermarket shelves in the uk and put it in absolutely everything on their menu to actively encourage as much business for the chilli farm as possible. Very very cool company.

my girlfriends mum is a nandos regional manager and she has confirmed that their recipe for their sauce in the packets/bottles at the restaurant is completely different to the little bottles she didnt say in what way but she said it was very different

As a chef who worked at a nandos when I was a teen. I really like the flavour of the hot sauces. The dry chicken is more of a tell on the cook who cooked it on the day. Also Nandos always has extra sauce to help cover your chicken. It’s a great place to eat on a rainy day but never a go to destination. I still buy peri peri sauce now and use it on other foods.

From South Africa - so glad you're trying Nando's. Unfortunate you found it dry. Nando's here definitely seems to do their chicken a lot better.

Yeah the delivery isn't good because the food just isn't supposed to be done like that, worked there for 3 years and before COVID, barely any take away was ever served. Always straight off the grills to a plate and out. Takeaway even after being "perfected" during COVID still will never compete with sit in.

Halloumi is a cheese made from goat and sheep milk combined, and it's low fat and high protein. It's a big part of cypriot culture (there are many cypriots in the uk). Very surprised they hadn't heard of it.

I used to work at Nandos, just saying it now - we *all* know you're putting soda in the water cups. Youre not slick, we just don't care enough. Only person who is supposed to be allowed to confront you is the manager, and they've got anything else to worrying about since one cup of sprite or whatever is worth about 12p to the restaurant

I found it hilarious how they were calling halloumi cheese a blight on their family lines, meanwhile for Christmas I literally eat it with my family lmfao. It's an Australian thing, u literally put it on the barbie no joke, first time i've ever seen an American portion smaller then an Australian one. Technically peri-peri is he correct pronunciation in South Africa where the restaurant originated. It is Piri-Piri is Portugal but in African countries its either Peri-Peri or Pili-Pili. Of course the flavour isn't great because Nando's is a chain restaurant and its food will never be authentic.

Thing about nandos is its really inconsistent. The menu is great all around, all the sides slap and the chicken has good range of flavours, but depending on location and shift it can just fucking suck. The most popular british fast food will always be the nearest sketchy kebab shop. The food rating is rarely above a 3, yet the food is always good. What they do best is always different as well, sometimes its pizza, sometimes its the chicken wrap, and very rarely the best thing is the kebab.

In Watford there are two Nando’s within a couple hundred meters, that’s how much we love Nando’s

As a South African this made me happy and sad, because one nandos is awesome but isn't our best franchise. Nandos also never tastes good as delivery or takeaway. Also from what I've heard, nandos outside of SA is not nearly as flavourful or spicy as the local stuff

I work at Nando's in the UK and if you get delivery you kind of have to go with Sunset Burger, Fino Pitta or wrap as the sauce keeps it good for longer. Chicken on the bone or the butterfly dries up super quick. Also cannot believe they didn't know what halloumi is, literally the best thing at Nando's

You're supposed to dip literally everything you ate in the Peri-Peri sauce.

As a Portuguese there is no such thing as Nandos around here... There are some typical portuguese things like peri peri but not exactly portuguese food. So if u want come to Portugal so I show u the best culinary we have my treat ;)

There’s Nandos literally everywhere here in Australia and it has to be one of my favourite take out places, you have to wait way too long to get your food tho
